Captain K. Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 58b Hello, I would like to introduce my new ship to you. This is the HMS "Sophia" a 8 gun sloop of war. There are more pictures: on Brickshelf Capt. K. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Nice ship Captain, just saw her in BS! Only improvement i can think of is the yellow stripe. Perhaps it is possible to make it in smaller steps, so it flows a bit better? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 8, 2008 Governor Posted August 8, 2008 Perhaps it is possible to make it in smaller steps, so it flows a bit better? Exactly what do you mean by that mighty Green Captain? I'm not much of a builder, as you're no doubt aware so what are these "steps" you speak of? Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Nice ship, and nice little cannons! Would you be able to give us a close up of one of those cannons? I would like to see if it's different from the other cannons in the cannon index. I've added you ship to Index of MOC Ships. Quote
Captain K. Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Hello, thank you for your answers. @ Captain green hair Perhaps it is possible to make it in smaller steps, so it flows a bit better? I could try this. A good idea is! @ Phred Would you be able to give us a close up of one of those cannons? I would like to see if it's different from the other cannons in the cannon index. The cannons simply are built up. Capt. K. Quote
Daniel G Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 A nice ship. A little cannons is very good for this art. Greetings Daniel G Quote
Swab Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Very nice liitle ship. I like the color scheme. Keep up the good work! Swab Quote
Capn Frank Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I think i like this cannon better than your previous version. Nice work. Thanx for the pic, I've added this cannon to the MOC Cannon Index. Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Cool ship Captain, I like your style! Only improvement i can think of is the yellow stripe.Perhaps it is possible to make it in smaller steps, so it flows a bit better? I agree and I do not agree with the good green captain here! Yes, I do agree the stripe could flow a little better, that seems like a good idea to me. And no, I don't agree there is only one improvement: I think the sails look a bit distracting, especially the middle sail on the fore-mast and the topsail on the mizzen mast look somehow to big compared to the other sails. Lastly, I think the topsail on the fore mast looks like it could also do with a little lowering. Other than that, it's good! Quote
Captain K. Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Hello, thank you for your good tips! I have changed the yellow stripe and the sails once again. The ship is looking that way now: I like it now better. What do you say? More pictures:Brickshelf Capt. K. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 What a beauty she is now! Youre building quite a fleet over there captain, what are your plans? Quote
Norrington Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Oh, I like this ship very much. I like that the sailors actually have uniforms (the Brits didn't do it for about 200 years after their navy started). The ship is very good. Did you draw inspiration from the Sophie, Jack Aubery's sloop-of-war in Master & Commander? Quote
Chenben Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I don't see the change of the yellow strip. What have you do? The sails are better like this, and very pretty cannons Quote
Captain K. Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Hello, @ Captain green hair Youre building quite a fleet over there captain, what are your plans? Yes, I plan a small squadron to build up. Up till now the squadron consists of the "HMS Leopard" and this one "HMS Sophia". And I build 22 cannons frigate at one. To this but later more! @ Norrington Did you draw inspiration from the Sophie, Jack Aubery's sloop-of-war in Master & Commander? I am a tall fan of Jack Aubery and his adventures. Yes, HMS Sophie has inspired me when I have built this ship. @ Chenben I don't see the change of the yellow strip. Compare these two pictures. I have changed the yellow stripe only in the middle of the ship. In the past: and now: Thank you for your answers. Capt. K. Quote
