jamtf Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Not much has been written about this new small set or perhaps I was drunk or something. This could be a new army builder (on the other hand, who needs an army of pirate captains?) with some extra useful bricks. The guy in the picture looks like a friendly captain despite his eyepatch. He could become Brickbeard's counterpart. Interesting new torso design if you ask me which does not seem to be available in any of the "normal" pirate sets that are available as of May 2009 or something. Link to Image Quote
keetong Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) Yay its only one set but its pretty cool maybe its that survival thing that was on the list? The ones on each side of it look new as well. the shirt on the pirate looks like a decals at second glance. Edit: for the reason of the shirt. Edited August 30, 2008 by keetong Quote

Alright, sorry, did not know.. Anyway, about the stickered torso... looks to be a sticker indeed. Let's hope that this is only a preliminary image and that things will be edited. This sets is meant to be for children between 4 and 7. Offering this set with stickers is not such a good idea if you ask me. I know that Lego used stickers in more ranges (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, City, etc.) but all the torsos are printed. Stickered torsos were typical for the late 1970s and early 1980s figs. Ever since, Lego has always used prints on torsos. Nonetheless, this is in my opinion a very neat torso design for a helmsman or a generic pirate. What also wonders me is why they do not seem to use the new head with the gold teeth and eyepatch which is available in the new Lego Agents line. Fatespuppet Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I think this set looks very neat. It'll probably be around the 10 dollar price range, but the part selection looks great. There are some lime green bricks thrown in as well if you look at the side of the box. I think the torso sticker is just a mock up to get this photo done. My guess is that these will be fully printed upon release. Too bad they don't have a soldier one as well. Quote

See this pic:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb301 I can think of two reasons. 1) They want an all new head for the pirate 2) The head in that picture looks a lot friendlier, which may be intended to make the set more appealing to 4-7 age range. Oh well, I will simply MOC a new pirate with the gold teeth myself and call him "Jaws". Edited August 30, 2008 by jamtf Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I thibk this is for kids, since I read: "4-7 anos" which I think means 4-7 years old. The fig is good, though. Quote

Next question, would you like to see Agents heads appear in future Pirate sets? Quote

Next question, would you like to see Agents heads appear in future Pirate sets? Hmm when did Gold tooths head appear in a castle set? Gold tooths head though is a great pirate head. He has an eye patch, looks mencining and incase you didn't guess he has a golden tooth. I really like the fig in this set. Looks like a good brick set as well. The coins . Quote
Dufresne Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 (edited) Interesting point - I realise they've appeared in the recent castle but why would they use Agent heads in pirate sets? Next question, would you like to see Agents heads appear in future Pirate sets? In some cases, sure. I mean, one of the cyborg-style heads wouldn't work, but gold teeth are absolutely appropriate for a pirate and would provide another way to get the head. Edited August 30, 2008 by Dufresne Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 30, 2008 Governor Posted August 30, 2008 Hmm when did Gold tooths head appear in a castle set? I wasn't specifically referring to the gold toothed faces, I had the "Ogel Wizard" or "Evil Wizard" in mind when I wrote the previous post. Quote
jamtf Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 I wasn't specifically referring to the gold toothed faces, I had the "Ogel Wizard" or "Evil Wizard" in mind when I wrote the previous post. Don't want to look smart with this reply but Ogel was part of the Alpha Team range, a Lego line that was discontinued a few years ago. Last year, I saw some of these still on stock in a small toy store somewhere near Straelen (Germany). One of those was the largest Alpha Team base. Unfortunately, priced at original retail price and no discount. Obviously, seeing those prices (and the fact the theme did not appeal to me at all) I left them untouched and only purchased a HP 4762 Rescue from the Merpeople set. The Ogel face was indeed re-used in the Evil Wizard from the new 2007 Castle line. In fact, I used the Ogel face with a black beard (same style as the wizard, a special color for this item, they are available on BrickLink for about $1.50 each, most of them being offered by German BL stores) and added a black tricorne and as a result, MOC-ed together another evil looking pirate with a strange looking red eye. But I agree to the fact that the Gold Tooth Agent head is quite useful for the new Lego pirate range. Quote

jamtf Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 You mean Agents and Alpha Team aren't related? Uh oh... Not really... Alpha Team was some futuristic arctic snow base while Agents is a range with mostly new secret vehicles and "cool Agents" chasing the bad guys on their secret missions. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 30, 2008 Governor Posted August 30, 2008 Well it looks like it's time for me to do some sleeping! Late at night some themes just blend into one another... It's a bad habbit of mine... Quote
