Hello everybody!

Since The Rancor created a great topic about sets we'd like to see next year and even mentioned the possibility of add-ons for the brilliant 10193 Medieval Market Village I thought that it would surely be interesting for us as well as for TLG, too, if we like some add-ons to the awesome 10193 Medieval Market Village and if so which add-ons we here on EB would like.

At the set ideas, the accessory ideas and the minifigure ideas you can choose for more than only one possibility. But please only vote for the possibilities you'd like the most because there won't be a significant result if every joice has about the same number of votes. So please vote! :sweet:

And if you've got additional ideas please share them with us.

Comments are welcome! :sweet:

I voted, I would like a pharmacy/docters house, another market stand or two, and of course a church with graveyard.

The priest, the pharmacist and some sales(wo)men come with them off course.

A townshouse with a prison would be neat as well. Another guard or 2, a governor and off course, a TAXcollector would be included.

PS: could you add the TAXCOLLECTOR to the poll please? He could come with a treasure cart and a few guards !

I really like this option, and I think some other will too, he goes great with the governor/mayor/nobleman as well.

Done  - great idea, the tax collector, zorro3999!

No medieval (or recent) city can live without a tax collector !

The graveyard, combined with the church, gives some nice possibilities as well, hopefully TLC doesn't think these are too "religious" or "political"...

BTW: Did you guys know you had to pay 1/10th of your income to your Lord in these days? If there was no Lord in your village or if you were a "Freeman", you were expected to pay this same ammount to the church.

One tenth of your harvest (or commerce) ! :oh:

Can you believe that ???

And here we all b*t*h about us having to pay high taxes, I think we all should be happy the taxsystem of the Middle Ages is behind us :laugh:One tenth of your income waisted like that...UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE. :sadnew:

Voted for almost everything! This is such a winner of a sub-theme.

Nice poll, Klaus-Dieter.

Um... you do realise that 10% is far less than most people pay now, right? I mean, it wasn't a brilliant system and if your Lord was bad, you suffered, but the same is true of current politicians. The good ones actually maintained a certain quality of public roadways and were responsible for keeping the citizens safe, things we pay a lot more for now.

Don't get me wrong, it was a hard life, but a lot of that was the difference in technology. If you can find me a 10% tax society now, I'll take it.

Hey, if nothing else it would be easier to cheat the on taxes back then.

Judging by the poll right now, anything that they made would go over well. None of the questions is a clear winner.

I was set off by this question. "Do you think that there will be some add-ons in the future?" There might be more castle village sets, but add ons? I just wasn't sure how it helped the rest of the poll. (except for making it longer)

The one thing I would like to see is more animals, like cows. Ok, I only want cows and horses, as I don't like brick built animals except in mocs.

Great idea here, I’d like to see more reasons why people voted like they did.

My reason to vote for a taxcollector has already been stated. I voted for a pharmacy/doctors house because they can be used in eg. tournaments and to take care of the sick and wounded (and let them die a lot earlier in most cases...), I would give them tools like a saw and cutting knifes.

A Lord would be something that can't be missed. Since it is a market, I would prefer a mayor or a count over a knight, after all it is not a battlefield.

Priest(s) would be nice since we don't have any, we have moncs but that is not the same. i would like to see a "Roman church-style" priest. But as said, I doubt TLC will release one.

Did I really have to put: "THIS IS A JOKE" underneath it??

Off course I knew....and I think everyone would take a 10% taxsystem...exept those who live in Monaco, since they pay NO taxes at all (the happy few).

Actually, we living in Belgium and the Netherlands pay the highest taxrate in the WORLD !

An AMAZING 55% to 60%!!! (ask Captain Green Hair or Bonaparte, I'm certain you will have ruined their day just by doing so  )

Yes you do, it's early and the internet is full of people who would actually make a statement like that seriously and my joke detector is broken. Dammit.

I figured you might be 12 and have no grasp of reality. Did I mention that my joke detector is broken? :sceptic:

Hehehe, the village has just been unveiled and already we are thinking about what should come after it

But I'd really like to se a farm, a church or a tailor. Oh, and more women in general. Maybe a... seemstress guild located right next to the barracks. And an alchemist (we have wizards, so it's in theme). See, I'm dreaming of my little village too. I'll place it on a hill, not too far from the pillaging orcs trolls.

And more trees like the one in 10193! Trees and a shrubbery!

I would love a nice church with a priest, since that goes well with this theme. I would like a farm, a Windmill, a nice well, maybe a fountain and a lot more village people ( ) Another building or so would be nice, maybe a bakary or whatever =]

I voted for the church. It would be nice for a church and a priest, but I do not think it would be fun for Non-Christians or Catholics. That would kinda be like the Town Plan church. They said it was a "Town Hall", but I have never seen anyone being married in a Town Hall :sceptic:

Ah! Free advertisement of my thread. Thanks Klaus Dieter :thumbup:

I voted (I think) mill and church as my favourite buildings.

What I would really want is a smaller affordable set which is between £20 and £30 (you do the usual Lego maths!)

I also voted to see a hangman, but I highly doubt TLG would produce this.

Yes, I'd like that, too. And I think that - if TLG hopefully releases an add-on - it'll be about half of the price and would contain only one house.

I also voted to see a hangman, but I highly doubt TLG would produce this.

Yes, a hangman and a gibbet would make a medieval city more realistic. But I, too, doubt that there'll be a gibbet and a hangman.

I'd happily have anything as long it looks good converted into my city. One good add-on I think would be a stables.

I totally agree with you, Pencoin. Since 10193 is so a totally amazing set I bet that every add-on - never mind what it would be - will be a great set and a great addition to 10193.

But I think that a stables is very unlickely (and would imo be unneccessary) since there's already a stables in 10193.

I voted for one add-on - a pharmacy with a new pharmacist and a gibbet. I would much rather have an apothecary, but they're pretty much the same thing.

Hmm, the Middle Ages... I don't suppose they're going to make a plague victim set - bubo-ridden villagers, big red cross to go on the door of that horsey inn, horse and cart carrying away the dead. Would be great.

And a gibbet too! Let's have some Lego hangings!

I would enjoy having a town hall with a prison and a church. The criminal that I want would go in the prison, and the priest could lead the church, and perhaps lead the soldiers into battle. What, haven't you ever heard of warrior-priests?! Oh and I would also like more cargo and market stands, all the more to be plundered by the forces of darkness. One more thing that would be cool is more peasants. One like the city one would be very nice.

I unfortunately think that they will not put any add-on for next year, simply because people will either not be able to afford it and children might not be interested. If the latter is true, and they don't even like the original, then they'll lose even more money. Hey, we have different mentalities then the focus group. They might not like this as much as we do!

Oh, and I would definitely want to buy any add-on if there was one on sale. No doubt.

That's a pretty comprehensive list of village people you've got there  .

In all seriousness, I'm not sure that LEGO would consider some of these. In particular, the church and any other religious symbols might be an area of some sensitivity for LEGO. Personally, I would love to see a monk, priest or some nuns, however I suspect that all of these figs might be too political for LEGO (who may not wish to offend the religious sensibilities of some consumers). I would also question the production of a water mill given that the one is already included with the village.

That being said, there are some pretty good ideas here. Personally, I'd like to see a windmill or a proper Inn however as I'm primarily a MOCer, the figs and specialty elements are my primary interest. In particular, I'd like to see more variety when it comes to accessories and minifigs. I don't need to see costuming tailored to a specific role, but I would love to see some torso prints in different colours. The new peasant torso would look perfect in brown, dark brown, or grey along with the tan version we've already seen. A more refined tunic for a merchant/tailor/etc. would also be nice. When building on a large scale, the repetition of torso prints can become quite apparent. I'm thrilled to see two distinct peasant females and I would love to see this expanded upon. Keep the torsos unique yet multi-purpose.

As for accessories; I'm a big fan of the new cows so I wouldn't mind some sheep or pigs to go along side them. As much as I am a sucker for brick-built animals, they seem at odds with many of the pre-fab animals we see. I suppose the pitchfork would be a nice throwback, however I've got enough of them already. At any rate, I'm very happy with where LEGO is going with the village. That being said, I'm not sure if I would expect much more of this theme. I'm already stunned by just how complete the village set already is.

Any minifigure with a new male torso would be great! I noticed that in the set, theres only 2 diferent male torsoes, not including the Crownies - the kids and the old man have the exact same torso!

I'd love to see an impulse set of a villager, dog and a cow laden with trade goods (maybe veggies, weapons, jewels/gold, etc)

Yes, a medieval citizen Impulse set would be great, UsernameMDM!

This poll needs to be converted into a contest. I at least want to see someone build an invalid mini-fig...

Great idea, Hinckley!

As for the invalid I didn't think of something very spectacular: Perhaps a blindfold or a peg leg.

Only a rhetorical question which should not discriminate against any person or any religion:

When TLG is afraid of a church being too political then why have they released the Taj Mahal since it's the expression of a religion, too? :sceptic:

I unfortunately think that they will not put any add-on for next year, simply because people will either not be able to afford it and children might not be interested. If the latter is true, and they don't even like the original, then they'll lose even more money. Hey, we have different mentalities then the focus group. They might not like this as much as we do!

I'd say that it'll depend of the actual price of the awesome 10193 Medieval Market Village, ptdapen.

If this brilliant set is exactly sold for 100 Euros/USD, then it's 50 Euros/USD sheaper than the amazing 10184 Town Plan. That theoretically would mean that every customer has 50 Euros/USD left. So I could well think - and I of course hope, too - that there then will be one add-on for about 50 Euros/USD in early fall. But of course this is no guarantee. Perhaps TLG even wants first to wait and see how 10193 sells (which is in my eyes unneccessary since it surely will sell very well) and then decide whether they'll release an add-on or not. Consequently both is possible.

And to the target groop: This set was especially designed for AFOLs - not for kids (which imo would like this set very much, too - it even includes two knights!).
