Hello everybody!

The last days of my semester break I decided to desgin a possible add-on for the amazing 10193 Medieval Market Village set. Here is the result:

Medieval Bakery And Shop

Pieces: 627

Price: 76,35

Somewhere in the medieval Lego town you can find a bakery and a shop. Help the baker at baking or the shop owner at selling his goods. Where does the woman and the little child go? Will they buy some croissants from the baker? Or buy some tea in the shop?

The bakery building contains baker's shop, living room and garret; the shop building contains shop, sleeping room and garret. Both houses are built up seperately so you can put them together to one big house.

A nice building, but I think it just doesn´t look medieval enough to me. At least not enough to be combined with the Market Place. If I had to put this building into a time frame, I´d go with the late 19th century.

A nice MOC, however it looks always "different" on LEGO creator. I agree with DJ Force, it doesnt look that medieval. However, I would definitely buy it, if it was a lower price...

Looks great Klaus, I would like add ons to the Village, but would have to be priced accordingly.

I admire your patience in designing this set. The interior s well furnished with a lovely attention to detail. Not sure about the window design, but you have to work with what LDD has to offer.

Thanks for sharing

DJ Force, I took the blacksmith' house from the awesome 10193 Medieval Market Village as archetype for this my MOC. The floor downstairs should only be built in grey. But some of the bricks which would be necessary for that aren't available in LDD. So it might perhaps look a bit "strange".

you did a nice moc, and it'll fit perfectly with the medieval market I think ^^

Thank you very much, Guss! :sweet:

Like already mentioned - I took the blacksmith' house from the amazing 10193 set as archetype for that my MOC in order to give it a more adequate character as a possible add-on.

I totally agree with you, Dwarvenlord: It's a bit overpriced. But consider that I designed it with LDD - and an individual product is always much more expensive than a set released by TLG. So if TLG hopefully releases a medieval bakery and a shop, this set surely would have a lower price.

Thank you very much, I Scream Clone! :sweet:

Yes, it take me a lot of time to design this set. But for me the interior is something very important for a set (and when designing a MOC, too).

Especially the white seats took a long time since I already designed several seats and now had to opt for one of them. The baker's shop interior was hard work, too, whereas the shop was very simple to furnsih. If you want to, you can download the instruction from Lego Factory. Go to the gallery and search for the name "Klaus-Dieter" (I hope this MOC is already published).

I voted "above average", a 4 thus.

I would/might buy it if it had a lower price yes, but then again that goes up for so many other different sets...

The bed and the front of the building look very nice.

Very nicely done - I'd certainly buy it for the lower price. Perhaps, if you could overhaul it a bit more, it would convince me to be outstanded by it.

BTW, nice job on the Baker's hat!

Definately one of you best MOCs. I really like the eaves over the windows. Those windows look better than I thought they would too.

The only things I would suggest is making the bottom all grey. I like the contrast between the stone and the half-timbering. And I'd make the roof overhang the outer/side walls. I think that looks better.

I think that the bones and structure are right, but the skin and organs are off. I have to agree with the others that it doesn't read medieval to me. I don't think it is an LDD thing, but more of a color choice. I wonder if you used more gray's and browns/tans, if I would feel better. (I think that the Medieval Village is too colorful, too.)

Also, the chairs that you have constructed are very modern. I would place them as 1940's era design. Medieval should be more stripped down, basic. Brown doors and black window panes.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with Athos that this is one of your best MOCS, and better than anything I've done lately. And I'll probably shamelessly steal your idea at some point. The architectural structure of the building very Village, but the color scheme and design are more modern. And, you know, if you strip down the interior- wooden chairs, a minimalist bed- the price would drop accordingly.

Oh, but it needs stairs to the upper levels. Actually, I think that all the Medieval Village buildings need stairs, for that matter.

Thanks. Nice to hear that you liked the baker's head, Lt. Col. Thok. :sweet: I, too, thought that it would be the best compromise when using LDD.

Really cool LDD Klaus-Dieter  . I need to agree with DJ Force and Dwarvenlord that it not looks so "medieval" but I think is because of the effect that cause the LDD  . I vote above average because it is pretty nice and for sure will make a good partner with the Medieval Market Village set. I vote buy, but at lower price because well I need some cash for Star Wars too  .

Thank you very much, darkrebellion! :sweet: Imo a bakery (of course not mine, TLG's designers and a lot of you, too, could esign it much better) would be the perfect addition to the amazing 10193 set.

Thank you very much, Steve! :sweet: I really would have liked to desgin the whole bottom in grey since I personally don't like it to be mixed with black. But LDD regrettably doesn't offer the bricks which I'd need in grey  .

That's indeed a problem with LDD, Tacitus, since some bricks are available in some colors and in some colors not. So how should I add some brwon doors or black window panes when there are no existent?!

Good idea, Tacitus! I thought about that, too, but then decided for no stairs since 1. it's easier to design ( ) and 2. because I wanted to make it as much similar designed to 10193 as possible - but of course different, too, since TLG would even do so  .

Btw: Does someone else plan to design an add-on for the amazing 10193 Medieval Market Village, too? - I would be really interested how someone else would desgin an add-on (it isn't necessary to design it in LDD how I did).

Dear Klaus-Dieter,

I like your design so far!

Are you planning any more designs?

I dont know if it counts as a 10193 add on, but I made some modular interior structures for my castle here inspired by the 10193 design.

<edit: took photos with better lighting>

Kind regards,

Teddy

Yes, I plan to desgin a courthouse with LDD in the future. But at the moment I've got a lot of work. So perhaps around Christmas.

By the way: Your modular interior structures look really nice!

It's a great MOC but i do not think that it has the unique selling points of the medieval market village, which has cows and a blacksmith's, new torso's, new turkey and more playability with the guards and the Inn, i think this would make a great addition to any medieval town, but i do not think it would sell.

Excellent work! I'd definitely buy it if it was released.

As I've said before, Lego needs more civilian stuff. The Medieval Market Village is a priority for my 2009 Lego purchases. Hopefully, they release more sets like that...even just one or two a year would be great.

I would really much have liked to include these things you mentioned, too, Talon Karrde!

But LDD regrettably offers only a limited number of bricks - and molds like the cows are officially even not already released. So I wasn't able to include these things.

And btw: Welcome to EB, Talon Karrade! :classic:

I totally agree with you: Civilian stuff is the magic word! And yes: One or two medieval civilian sets per year would be - apart from very much in demand by me - the perfect number. At the best some add-ons for the awesome 10193 Medieval Market Village since they then would be a bit cheaper, too.
