The brave Cpt Chimp N Zee takes his ship the FSE-01 to explore uncharted sections of space! A few years ago a very exciting sight greeted me when I woke up one morning, a family friend had dropped off a huge bucket of LEGO that their son had no room nor intrest for. My mum told me that yes it was to be shared between me and my brothers, however as the biggest fan of LEGO and the oldest I could get first pick if I helped her sort it... A wonderful afternoon was spent gleaning parts that are probably older than me. Among those parts were some Space and two odd looking figures, a mouse and a chimp/monkey. I kept them as a curiosity. Very recently I came upon their true name and was slightly impressed. Having browsed some of the Fabuland MOCs on this forum, and the obviouse high regard many members hold this theme I decided to try my hand at making a Fabuland MOC. Combining two 80s themes I made this MOC, a classic space style Fabuland Space Explorer (or FSE-01). Enjoy. Quote
KDog Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I love it! What a cool idea! How did you get the space emblem on his chest? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 I googled Classic Lego Space Logo, found one with a good blue background and resized it to 20/20 on MS paint, printed it off then carefully trimmed it out and used pritt-stick to glue it to the fig, i did try making sticker decals, they failed badly... Mrs Pegleg Blockbeard Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 HAH! This this excellent! Good job! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 10, 2009 Author Posted January 10, 2009 Why thank you. I am planning on doing something in all grey for the mouse figure I have, however I am yet to print the a logo or find enough pictures of grey classic space ships I need to make one. I should have something by Tuesday. Quote
Batbrick Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 That's sweet, very well done too in keeping the classic look of the craft. You're right though, I've never seen Fabuland in space before, neat idea! Batbrick is Back! Quote
zero1312 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Oh no!!!! What's next? Fabuland Technic? Quote
kill will Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 It looks very swooshable, and Fabuland is always a plus. Amphropomorphized, I don't think I've heard that one before. Quote

CopMike Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Well done Peppermint ! I love how you make the decal and choose the right animal & color to go with the ship! Now all of you the few remaining non-Fabulands lovers see how great Fabuland is! CopMike Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 It was rather fun working to a different scale than the usual minifig scale I favour. If I ever find a black torso'd fabuland fig I might give Fabuland Blacktron a try . Quote
Hewman Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Great stuff, two fantastic themes from my childhood. I might have to classic spaceify some of my fabuland figs with a few spare classic space stickers I got off a guy on ebay. As for a black fig, the crow here Fabuland crow would fit in pretty well for Blacktron. Also available with a red helmet (at least I think it's red, red-green colour blindness can be a problem when it comes to Lego). Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 Well, I have made a grey ship, now all I need is a logo to stick on the mouse, which I can print off tommorow, more Fabuland in Space tommorow! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Here is the second of my Fabluland in Space MOCs. click for more pictures Major Apodemus Muridae In the FSE-02 (Fabuland Space Explorer 2) Bravely explores the uncharted crater-scape of the Scala Moons. This one was based on the small grey vehicles of the Space theme. Once again I found a classic space logo, resized it, printed, trimmed and glued it to the Fabuland Mouse figure. Quote

I'm just wondering, does anthro-whatever include the ability to survive without an atmosphere? That really looks more like a hover-car or something, and the poor mouse might die. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Ah yes, my friend pointed this out... Forcefields? Generated by the slopes either side of the front slope. That or the Scala moons have atmosphere... All the grey vehicles were on planet and atmosphere based (by the looks of things on the original boxes) so Apodemus is safe. Quote
Hinckley Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Ugh. Saying an animal is anthopromorphized...or however you spell it...is redundant. Repetitively redundant. That being said, these are really great! Thanks for sharing them with us. I love to see Fabuland creations and it's not often we get to see them in space. Nice work. Quote
Hewman Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Ugh. Saying an animal is anthopromorphized...or however you spell it...is redundant. Repetitively redundant. Huh? Why is that redundant, am I missing something? Anyway, I love these little creations, I think I'll have to get out my space and fabuland lego this weekend to see what I can come up with. Quote
Svelte Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Huh? Why is that redundant, am I missing something? Would you really take dictionary definitions from a creature with the head of a man and the body of a turkey? I don't think it is redundant, as anthropomorphism means applying human characteristics to lots of things - animals, plants, places... not just our furred and feathered friends Quote
LuxorV Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Nice work on both crafts, Peppermint Now I'll just have to wait for that Blacktron one LuxorV Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks Everyone When I have a list of items I want that makes briclink worthwhile (I hate making $1 or $2 purchases, seems like a waste of P&P...) I will get the crow fabuland figure ready for blacktron-ising. Quote
