Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) We have adult minifigures, and we got dwarf/child legs around 2000 (which was still a delay), yet we still don't have any baby minifigures! I'd love it if there were any. The player pieces in the new Lego board game resemble tiny minifigures, so maybe they will be used for babies... I just wonder why we haven't had any babies yet? (that sounds odd ) :skull: Edited March 3, 2009 by Shoc Quote
The Cobra Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Maybe beacuse they would be too small. But I remember an outstanding vignette called "Don't throw away the baby with the bath water" or something like that, featuring a really small child (a minifig head inside a reversed turban). Quote

Scyzoryk Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 You don't really need a WHOLE minifig (torso, arms, legs, hands, head etc) for a baby. How bout a one piece like the golden idol from the indy set?? Quote
Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 There is a lego baby but its bellivle. And its bigger than the minifigure Hehe. Nah, that's no good. You don't really need a WHOLE minifig (torso, arms, legs, hands, head etc) for a baby. How bout a one piece like the golden idol from the indy set?? That's what I want. I wasn't thinking of an articulated minifigure, that would be close to impossible for a baby. :skull: Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) There is a lego baby but its bellivle. And its bigger than the minifigure There is? LOL bigger  Those Belville creators! If there are babies there has to be nappies. In any case I think LEGO should first focus on making more women otherwise there ain't ever going to be many babies. Edited March 3, 2009 by Calvin Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I think the new game pieces will be great babies! There are small and cute ^^ Quote
Sandy Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I don't really see a need for minifig babies. System isn't Belville, their target audiences are quite different. And why do you need an official piece for something you can make out of existing bricks? Quote
Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 In any case I think LEGO should first focus on making more women otherwise there ain't ever going to be many babies. Haha, yes. There are two few Lego women compared to Lego men. I think the new game pieces will be great babies! There are small and cute ^^ Yep, they look it from the picture! And why do you need an official piece for something you can make out of existing bricks? For the same reason I'd rather have a horse piece than a brick-built horse - the aesthetics. :skull: Quote
Algernon Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 What an outrage! LEGO should make fetuses, too! Let's petition for a new theme called "LEGO How Babies are Made"! Quote
Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 What an outrage! LEGO should make fetuses, too! They already do! Let's petition for a new theme called "LEGO How Babies are Made"! Ah, a return to educational Lego sets, eh? :skull: Quote
Shadows Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Minifigs are babies, or at least infants... Don't look at me like that, I'm not crazy. Look at this instead! Yes, that's right, a minifig sitting in the high chair (with pigtails, too) of the Gylman family kitchen. See how perfectly she fits? Of course she can't bend her elbows or move her hands nearly as much as the adults, but that's the price of miniaturization. That puts a whole new perspective on the issue, huh? Quote
CP5670 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 That set is awesome. I didn't know they ever had both types of figs in the same set. It really is a "minifig." Quote
5150 Lego Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 What set is that stove door from????? I know its a cabinet, but i'vennever seen that door before! That would be great for one of my projects! Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 The Brick Testemant uses a plain minifig head as the body and a printed Head for, well, the head. The Racers body can make a good baby in a high chair/pram/car seat. I have also seen people use the cylinders as a body. I agree that the new game pieces would make great toddler/baby minifigs. Quote

(that sounds odd ) :skull: Good and interesting thought, Shoc! I have never thought about that until now. Yes, to get some Lego babies would be quite nice - of course with buggies. But at the momemt I'm already really content when I see that more woman minifigs and even two kids - in the awesome 10193 Medieval Market Village and the amazing 7641 City Corner - appear. If TLG goes on with this family-friendly politics that's really fine with me (and then I don't necessarily need some Lego babies). The absolute perfect thing would be if TLG offers us a big family home (similar to the Playmobil one) with a whole family (mother, father, son, daughter) - that would be absolutely awesome! Linky ...That puts a whole new perspective on the issue, huh? Ooer! Now I'm getting confused... ...a minifig sitting in the high chair (with pigtails, too) of the Gylman family kitchen. The Racers body can make a good baby in a high chair/pram/car seat. I never really thought of that! I have a lot of those Racers torso-seats, that would actually look pretty good. The absolute perfect thing would be if TLG offers us a big family home (similar to the Playmobil one) with a whole family (mother, father, son, daughter) - that would be absolutely awesome! Yep, it would. I love making homes out of Lego, so I've always wanted a sort of Lego 'dolls house'. Especially with a proper family too! Interestingly enough, nobody yet knows the answer to my original question... :skull: Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Squeaker's kid is an alternative that's smaller than the "stubby kids" - I've seen that technique before, it's good but I'd rather have an actual minifig. The main problem is that the use of the 1/2pin is "illegal" by TLG's standards, as it cannot click into place, so couldn't be used in a set. (Regarding the origins of the technique, both I and Micahberger used it in December 2007, but it only gained widespread publicity after Rocko did the aforementioned vig. Someone may have used it before that, though) That's what I want. I wasn't thinking of an articulated minifigure, that would be close to impossible for a baby. Something like the monkeys. Except not quite like them They already do! The Brick Testemant uses a plain minifig head as the body and a printed Head for, well, the head. The problem with this and the turban technique is that they only really work for old-fashioned babies, wrapped in cloth. What about baby-grows, and all things modern? Quote
badboytje88 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Can someone give me a link to a pic of the player pieces in the new Lego board game? Badboy Quote
Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) Squeaker's kid is an alternative that's smaller than the "stubby kids" - Seen that one too, it's quite good. The smaller the body though, the more disproportionate the head becomes... Something like the monkeys. Except not quite like them No, unless we want baby monkeys too. I think he meant human foetus, not alien foetus! I have that piece actually, it's nice. :skull: Edited March 3, 2009 by Shoc Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 If the LEGO board games sell well maybe LEGO will decide to use the player pieces as a baby? Quote
Shoc Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) If the LEGO board games sell well maybe LEGO will decide to use the player pieces as a baby? Even if they don't sell well, those pieces look good for babies so they should use them as that. :skull: Edited March 3, 2009 by Shoc Quote
Zorbas Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Let's just all pretend that the LEGO world is like Pleasantville. Where all citizens are just there, no one knows how they were brought to life. Seriously now, if there was a LEGO infant, it should have maximum, the size of the parrot. Not bigger. And if i'm right Shoc, I assume that you mean something like the cat or the rat. To be honest, i'm not a big fan of this idea. Quote
