pedro Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) Hey everyone, After seeing some nice set alternatives a while back - and after KimT suggesting I give it a try - I went for it with a couple of my recent sets! I bought 2 Clone Walker Battle Packs on release and an Assassin Droid Battle Pack, so decided to build using those. AT-AP As the Clone Wars escalated, the Republic military built up their ground forces with newer, more versatile models of walking battlefield armor. This two-legged model, dubbed the pod attack walker, featured artillery cannons and a third retractable leg used for stability during long-range weapons firing. Clone trooper drivers piloted this walker model in such heated campaigns as those found on Kashyyyk and Felucia. I used 2 x 8014s to build this as I happened to have bought 2. No doubt with an extra set I could refine the folded middle leg a little, but I wanted to keep restricted to using only the parts available in the 2 sets. Front Left Rear Spares Serratto FAS-2 'Dagger' Landspeeder Serrato, a weapons and repulsorlift manufacturing company, pledged alliegance to the CIS during the Clone Wars and produced several dedicated skimmers during that time. The FAS-2 Dagger is a fast assault landspeeder with sleek laser deflecting fairing, two high performance thrusters and armed with two powerful laser lances. Chiefly deployed on missions requiring surgical strikes, fast assault, covert ops and often piloted by assassin droids whose combat ability would serve to enhance the effectiveness of the Dagger. I created this tinkering with 8015. I also created a 2 manned version but haven't photo'd it. Rear Front Side Spares Hope you like 'em! Questions and constructive criticism glady accepted. More pictures are available in my Clone Wars Brickshelf folder here when moderated. Edited April 24, 2009 by KimT Quote
green dewback Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The AT-AP is amazing ! Looks like a mini version. Quote
Future74 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Both are awesome builds! The AT-AP is really accurate, even shapewise and that from two battlepacks, amazing! Buy a third BP and make it complete! I created this tinkering with 8015. I also created a 2 manned version but haven't photo'd it. Looking forward to those! Quote
Spyder Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) That AT-AP is the best alternitive I've ever seen! It's gorgeous, and even better, you used only two battlepack sets! Two thumbs up! Edited April 22, 2009 by Spyder Quote
Artizan Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 wow great builds i think i am falling in love with that at-ap! Quote
ILikePi Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I believe that these belong in the Battle Pack Alternatives topic. Considering the limited parts you had, these look amazing. If only I had two of a battle pack... Quote
prateek Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I like the AT-AP it looks just like a mini version of the real thing Quote
DualDisorder Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Nicely done on both, but I'm really loving the AT-AP. Looks pretty genuine. Amazing work man. Quote
def Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Those are both fantastic, I think I'll give the Dagger Landspeeder a try. And you photos are flawless Quote
L-space Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Wow, I really like the Dagger Landspeeder. It this going fast standing still. Very nice design you did on that one. This is the stuff TLC could have persuaded me to get into PT and CW. Quote
RileyC Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 really like the at ap. You could even call it a midi scale! Quote
pedro Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks for the all positive comments guys, really glad you like my efforts I believe that these belong in the Battle Pack Alternatives topic. Ah, I hadn't realised there was a topic on alternates... it must have been hiding in the depths of the forum somewhere This is the stuff TLC could have persuaded me to get into PT and CW. With all the creativity around EB, there's still a chance I'm sure! really like the at ap. You could even call it a midi scale! Come to think of it, yeah! It seems to be around the right size. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Great AT-AP! not sure how much I like the landspeeder though. Don't really like the split down the middle. Quote
KimT Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 A midi-scaled AT-AP Great work pedro. Amazing what you can do with just a couple of BP's That sure shows that it's not the amount of bricks that makes a great MOC'er Quote
DoctorDude234 Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Not to sound like a noob, but does the AT-AP alternate fit a minifig? That is amazing, btw. Quote
pedro Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 Great AT-AP! not sure how much I like the landspeeder though. Don't really like the split down the middle. Aye, the split is pretty much unavoidable unfortunately and especially with such limited parts. Not to sound like a noob, but does the AT-AP alternate fit a minifig? Perfectly valid question, not noobish at all! No, there's not enough room inside... it's filled out with hinge bricks and other parts to support the hull. Cheers for the further comments! And thanks for frontpaging this KimT... got a bit of a surprise when I came on earlier Quote
KimT Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Cheers for the further comments! And thanks for frontpaging this KimT... got a bit of a surprise when I came on earlier You're welcome. There's so many things I'd love to frontpage within the Star Wars forum, but I can't do it all since that'll clutter the frontpage. I saw an opening and posted this great alternate topic. Hopefully I'll find spots to frontpage more of the great stuff you guys post here Quote
Millacol88 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Excellent, Pedro. The AT-AP is surprisingly accurate considering it was made with such a limited parts selection. Quote
baby Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Perhaps you might want to show us how is the inside. I got no idea how to fix it. Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 A sweet looking AT-AP! This is a great way of making dioramas! You just buy lots of battlepacks and turn them into AT-AP's! Now on to the Dagger Landspeeder, I think this much nicer than the lame-ish Assassin battlepack These MOC's are awesome! Keep on making awesome MOC's! Quote
pedro Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Perhaps you might want to show us how is the inside. I got no idea how to fix it. I'll see if I can take a couple of photos for you Quote

pedro Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) Here you go! Right interior. See the 2 x 2 bley plate on the hinge bricks? That's where you attach the front hull panel. The dark bley hinge plate clip is where you attach the side hull panels. Left interior. Note the single cone underneath the hinge brick - it's important as it adds a lot of stability to the hinge bricks. Front hull panel. Make sure this is built completely before attaching by the dark bley modded plate to the 2 x 2 plate on the front hinge bricks. It's best to attach the front hull panel before adding the side hull panels. Side hull panels. These clip on as above. Hope that helps Edited April 29, 2009 by pedro Quote
