jonwil Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I have built a 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive (modeled off the one in Back To The Future 3, no, not the time machine one, the regular one) and I want advice on how to build the cow catcher for the front. I am using the small train wheels (the really tiny ones) for the front truck and the Emerald Night wheels (all 6 of them) for the driving wheels The rest of the loco is good, just the cow catcher I am not happy with. Any advice (including links to pictures of other peoples cowcatchers) will be appreciated Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 A quick Brickshelf search returned this: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=21720 Good luck! Quote
SavaTheAggie Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I've built both a 4-4-0 and a 4-6-0 and the cow catcher is always an issue. I've never been satisfied with the standard brick-built solutions I've seen just about everywhere. Perhaps what I've done will inspire you. Both use custom lengths of flex tubing, though obviously the 4-4-0's cowcatcher uses a lot more. --Tony Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Great question. I've struggled with cow catchers as well. Your designs look very good Tony, as well as the locomotives. I hope a few more train fans will share their cow catcher designs. Added to Train Tech! Quote
