SuvieD Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Here is my entry. Sadly, this MOC is too big to move and is sitting in the basement where the lighting is so poor. I would have loved to get it out into the sun to let the details shine. Let me know what you think. The picture is a link to the BS folder. Quote
Sandy Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Ooh, very nice! Extremely nice! I'm loving the whole soldiers vs. forest folk position. All the different creatures defending their home are fantastic. I'm also loving all the magic spells being cast. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but the minifigs blend into the background quite efficiently. It creates quite a chaotic scene. I'm missing the "big picture", though. It would be great to see the entire MOC in a single picture. Do you have such a photo somewhere? Quote
purple tornado Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I like it very much, that tree is huge. + the old school minifigs are wicked! Does the giant tree have an interieur? Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Nice creation!! I love all the action going on, the hand to hand combat, the magic... And of course the forest looks great too. I like the river, the foliage and the large tree. It's huuuge! And did I spot Hinckley with a baguette? Quote
lrdofbricks Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 im loving the random forester beating somebodies head in with a chicken leg. Quote
-JD- Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 This should be frontpaged! I love it! The tree is the the best followed by those wizards sending out green lightening. Great job! Greetings, JD Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Very special creation. I love all the layering. The details are amazing. There is such a diversity of activity and imagination. What a fun build. Quote
SuvieD Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 I want to say first off, thank to everybody who wrote something. I appreciate the comments and any criticism you might have for me. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but the minifigs blend into the background quite efficiently. It creates quite a chaotic scene.I'm missing the "big picture", though. It would be great to see the entire MOC in a single picture. Do you have such a photo somewhere? Thanks Sandy. The chaos of battle is exactly what I was going for. I think if you look at some of the pictures on page two they have a more birds eye view. Sadly the lighting isn't all that great so it is hard to show all the details. That and the fact that this sits on four large gray baseplates. I like it very much, that tree is huge.+ the old school minifigs are wicked! Does the giant tree have an interieur? Sadly only the lowest floor is hollowed out. If I had more time I would have loved to make the tree into sort of housing solution for many of the peasants and creatures. The contest ends tomorrow and I needed to get this finished last weekend so I couldn't do more with it. Nice creation!! I love all the action going on, the hand to hand combat, the magic... And of course the forest looks great too. I like the river, the foliage and the large tree. It's huuuge! And did I spot Hinckley with a baguette? It is huge. I used up almost all of my brown bricks both new and old colors, all my foliage, and most of my small brown plates. The pictures don't show the full size well either. I wish I could show this in person somehow. And yes, that is Hink fencing with stale bread. im loving the random forester beating somebodies head in with a chicken leg. I love that too. Thanks for noticing it. The villagers have only two swords among the lot of them and the rest had to fight with what they could. Wow. That is amazing. Thanks. This should be frontpaged! I love it! The tree is the the best followed by those wizards sending out green lightening. Great job!Greetings, JD You know, I find that the wizards add something extra to a castle battle. The magic adds a fun look to the scene and is a great way to show movement which is sometimes difficult with minifigures. Very special creation. I love all the layering. The details are amazing. There is such a diversity of activity and imagination. What a fun build. Thank you. This was an awesome build for me. And kudos to you for noticing the layers. There are many layers of building and hopefully the layers of action are coming through too. The whole build took two weeks and I put a lot of time into it. Multiple layers of bricks, plates, foliage, and figures went into this not to mention the tree, which was like adding a second set of layers to the whole thing. I am extremely pleased with what I ended up with. Quote
Matn Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 This is one of the coolest LEGO creations I've seen! The techniques used are really awesome, you've done a great job on the scenery and greenery. It fits prefectly together, and the big oak is also impressive. Those wizards are also great, what you have done for achieving that 'magic effect' is really inventive. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It's good to see another creation from you SuvieD. This is a beautiful build, the sheer scale of which is hard not to appreciate. All the details are great, my favourite being the wizard you put in your first post, but all the various wizard spells are cool, and the makeshift weapons of the defenders are fun. The only thing I would criticise is that the ground is too mottled. It does help with the chaotic look, but I think some of the details get lost in it, particularly in the black areas. Overall a stunning creation, and I agreed it should be frontpaged. Quote
General Armendariz Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Amazing work!!! its bib, very big and theres a lot of details! I think I spotted myself! (look behind the trans green spiral thing) Quote
Guss Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Big , huge, awesome, full of details, impressive, it's the words that comes to my minds when I look at it, a very stunning creation, great job! Quote
Oken Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 More bricks than pixels in the image :D (There is Charly game inside?) I like it!!! Quote
Zorro Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Magnificient! All those details and fighting men! After zooming in on the pictures it looks even better since else it looks a bit crowded. Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Really amazing, your moc! Very nice and detailed battle scence! But what I like most is the enormous oak! Quote
building123 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 It's so beautiful you've inspired me to go find all my brown bricks and build a giant tree! OUTSTANDING!!!!! Quote
Admiral Rodgers Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 (edited) That's a tree! It's almost humbling Edited June 9, 2009 by Admiral Rodgers Quote
alex12 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 This is spectacular. I love it. So many details you could spend hours looking at it. Quote

Overall a stunning creation, and I agreed it should be frontpaged. The black areas are meant to look similar to hardened lava flows. That is why the lake was there. This used to be a volcano and it is only by the effort of many that the tree is still standing while everything else is gone. The contrast is somewhat lacking though and I should have used more reference pictures or left the black to show more. I was trying to get a weathered and changing landscape to show but the tan wasn't the best choice to make that happen. Thank you for your comments and putting this on the front page. Wow, this is rather impressive. Thanks! Great job! Love it. I do too. Wow, that is incredible! Nicely done. Thanks, it it nice to have other builders like what you are able to come up with. Amazing work!!! its bib, very big and theres a lot of details!I think I spotted myself! (look behind the trans green spiral thing) Yes, that fellow looks a lot like you, though I don't it is you. Big , huge, awesome, full of details, impressive, it's the words that comes to my minds when I look at it, a very stunning creation, great job! Thanks Guss. More bricks than pixels in the image :D (There is Charly game inside?)I like it!!! Lots of parts went into this though I don't know if it exceeds the pixels count even with such small pictures. Magnificient! All those details and fighting men! After zooming in on the pictures it looks even better since else it looks a bit crowded. The lighting and camera focus I used don't show all the details at once. With the apeture set this way I could "force" the viewer to look at only what is most important in each shot. Thanks for the comments. Really amazing, your moc! Very nice and detailed battle scence! But what I like most is the enormous oak! I love the tree. It is huge and very fragile to touch. I am always afraid something is going to fall off it. I will need to dismantle it soon or risk warping the bricks permantly due to the stress on some of them to hold up all the branches. It's so beautiful you've inspired me to go find all my brown bricks and build a giant tree! OUTSTANDING!!!!! Be paitent if you build and take time to re-enforce your branches as you go or you will end up mending constantly. That's a tree! It's almost humbling Thanks. It is a very big tree and the texture turned out great. This is spectacular. I love it.So many details you could spend hours looking at it. Well I spent many hours building and planning so I hope it is enjoyable to see all the details I packed in. I posed each and every figure, some more dynamically obviously. I am happy to see that you enjoyed my efforts. Quote
TomC Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Thank you for reporting the tree's fragility. I was wondering about that. This creation is simply marvelous. I'm greedy for more pictures, it's so beautiful. Wow. tc Quote
