I wanted something to do between my Hogwarts project that didn't used any of my tan pieces. That's a hard one, because I really like to use tan pieces in my buildings. To stay in the Harry Potter universum I thought I'd give The Burrow a try, the home of the Weasleys (and Harry's second real home after Hogwarts). I have worked on it yesterday and this morning I added the details and greenery. This afternoon I took the pictures and I've just finished the editting of the background. It was fun to make, I think the result is good. I hope it's recognazible to the Harry Potter fans!

Very cool! I think you have represented the home of the Weasley family quite well! I like how it looks kinda 'patched together' just as it is described in the books. Great work!

That is freaking asssome Matt!   WOWZERS!

It looks so neat and tidily built! Well done! There is so many interpretations of the Weasley's burrow, but that is just spectacular.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I really appreciate it! Woah, Cutlass_Iz, you're making me blush  .

Oh, and I'll probably add an interior soon, but we'll see about that.

This really is a very very lovely MOC! It looks very LEGO like. Looks like it could come straight out of the LEGO factory! The only thing I have doubts about is the size. There live 7 people in that house, and it doesn't look like there would be able to fit 7 people in there. But on the other hand they did say in the books that it was a very crowded and had very small rooms. So I guess the size is alright.

Very nice. It looks really like in the movie, although you could see the house only 2 seconds.

Has it also an inside or is it more stabilezed inside.

Posted (edited)

Thanks guys.

The inside has a few bricks stacked on eachother so the upper part can't fall over, but I am considering an interior (because the upper part is pretty stabilized, it rests against the roof), I'll see about that interior. I'm not sure if I will decorate the upper parts from the inside, but I will make the ground floor for sure. :classic:

And I've been blogged on The Brothers Brick with this, and with everyone's positive comments, that just makes my day.

I'm not the Harry Potter expert but this is nicely made... keep it up.

By the way,... how is it on Belug (still visiting it)???

For me it's been some time that I visit the forum.

Very nice indeed, I like it a lot. I like how you've acheived the look without a gigantic scene or very intricately arranged building using heaps of SNOT etc., but rather clever arrangement of "ordinary rooms" using nice details and decoration.

Did you build from a plan or drawing? I find it hard to acheive such a clean look when I just make it up as I go along.

Great work!

Thanks!

Capt. Kirk: it's rather quiet on the BeLUG forum. Well... Hm, but I see now that the nice clubdays make it up for that. But maybe it would be nicer to get more comments on the BeLUG forum also, because those people have more influence on you than on forums on which you don't know each other.

brickzone: I was going to use different techniques, like SNOT, but I guessed a simple look works better for the Burrow. Glad you see that also! I started it with my imagination (using the information in the books: build on a stone house), and I also looked to a picture of the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It can be seen as my "blueprint". (:

Capt. Kirk: it's rather quiet on the BeLUG forum.

--> With other words it's still the same as in the past. But I consider this a bit the fault of the Staff. They do very few posts or respond only on things that interest them. This is unfortunately mainly city/town. I still remember the day that I won the Pillage the Village contest (large division). My Flickr account was full of positive reaction from around the globe (pm's, comments and favs). Also here it was nothing then praise. On Belug I got 4 reactions - out of 200 members- and none of the Staff said a word... :sceptic: And then they want me to drive 60km to show my mocs on a club-day... :sadnew:

--> The excuse that they have little time is for me weak. Because there is clear evidence that they read "weekly" the forum (just post a negative word and you'll see). Especially when you compare it with this forum and you see that these Staff members can respond (they have also children, have other hobbies, have a job, etc.). But I stop given comments because we are going off-topic.

--> One last word, please don't read this as a negative comment... but just as a remark.

Well... Hm, but I see now that the nice clubdays make it up for that.

--> That's positive... :thumbup:

But maybe it would be nicer to get more comments on the BeLUG forum also, because those people have more influence on you than on forums on which you don't know each other.

--> I personally find this a strange attitude. In essence it doesn't matter who gives the comment. Whether it's a Russian, a Frenchman or a Chinese... if he / she is right or you can learn something ... what the f*ck.

I totally think the same, Capt. Kirk! When there has been posted something negative about the club, all the staffmembers react on it, but when there has been posted a marvelous creations you only get some reactions by the few active forum members... If the staffmembe rs also reacted, I think you would have a bigger urge to go to a club event!

And I formed the last sentences a bit weird, it doesn't matter indeed who gives the tips and comments. I have to say, Eurobricks members has given me more tips and critics than on any other forum. But when you go to an event they can explain exactly and show what they meant on the forum and you can adjust the MOC properly. :classic:

--> In way is good to hear that you think the same and believe me we're not alone... but I'm affraid that the Staffmembers don' see it or maybe better said, don't want to see the problem. And like you said, if the staffmembers also reacted, I think you would have a bigger urge to go to a club event... that's 100% right Matn. But if they wish to do it the other way that's their problem IMO. And wish them all the best in the future... the gone need it if they want to survive.

That's one of the main thing which bothers me about Dutch forums. You can post your stuff there, but the reactions you'll get are minimal. I made a topic in which I wanted to promote a flickr group for Dutch members, but they locked the topic allmost the same day... That's why I started visiting eurobricks more and more often.

Mat: I'm just seeing this creation from your signature link today. What a nicely made creation. What catches my eye is the rickety-looking wooden tower, a great design addition to your MOC.

This motivates me to look at more Harry Potter creations. Great job!

I know I'm double posting but I would like to share the little scene I made with the Burrow at Tielt this weekend. It includes the garage, the broom cabinet, some chickens (based on mijasper's design), the flying Ford Anglia, the Weasley family (except for Percy) and Harry and Hermoine. And of course the Burrow itself!

tielt_burrow.jpg

I know the layout of it isn't accurate. The garage should be standing at the back of the photo because here you can see the garden/back of the house. But it was nicer and easier to look at it this way. :classic: I'll edit this post if somebody has made some better pictures of it.
