Capn Frank Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 (edited) My wife and i really like the MASH TV series, all nine seasons. I wanted to build something from this TV series, and thought the helicopter would be the most challenging, and i don't think i've seen one very well done in my BS and MOCpages searchs. If i'm wrong about that, please feel free to point out where the folders are! Well here it is. The Bell 47 Mash Helicopter. I'm not satified with all of the brick colors, but i am very satisfied with how it looks. Here's a Wiki Article Edited July 23, 2011 by Rufus Indexed Quote
spade450 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I think it turned out great. The colors look good to me -- very subtle, unless you are referring to the windshield which is a bit bright for the overall color scheme of the model. Sometimes (actually, most times) you build with what you got. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 You've certainly captured it very well Phred! The tail is well done, is it sturdy? The colors look ok to me, though all dark grey and some M*A*S*H* stickers would be great. The canopy might look nice in trans black. There's just 1 thing i'm missing in there, where's the guy in the dress? Quote
Ralph_S Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Very impressive little helicopter, especially the lattice work for the tail. I can't figure out how you've done that. The only obvious improvement I think of would be to replace the trans neon green bubble canopy with a similar item in transparent clear (it can be found in agents set 8969). Cheers, Ralph Quote
Sir Norman Ray Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 As a huge MASH fan, I love this! Awesome little chopper, keep rescuing those wounded men! -Sir Norman "Because suicide is painless..." Ray. Quote
L-space Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 It looks great. My suggestions on an unlimited budget: maybe change the fuselage to dark green replace the windschields for the patients by bubbles But still very recognizable and that's what counts Quote
Capn Frank Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 Thanks guys! The tail is well done, is it sturdy? The colors look ok to me, though all dark grey and some M*A*S*H* stickers would be great. The canopy might look nice in trans black. As Mr. Spade said, I used only pieces that i had for now. In my Constitution BL purchases, i hope to add some more proper colored elements (Like a trans black canopy ). The lattice tail is as strong as it needs to be. There's just 1 thing i'm missing in there, where's the guy in the dress? Doesn't Klinger work with the Jeeps ? I guess my next MASH model will have to be a jeep. ...especially the lattice work for the tail. I can't figure out how you've done that. I put thread through 3mm flex hose. Unfortunately the hose is a clone, but i could never cut up a lego brick. The main support is three 3mm, rigid hoses, which are lego hoses. Quote
