Captain Green Hair Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Since i hadn't build anything castle ever since i was a kid, the MCC contest held by Rocko on Flickr was the perfect opportunity to build something. I call it 80's smackdown as i wanted to capture the feel of the old catalogs, with a bit of a modern touch. We get in th battle right at the point were the crusaders break out of their castle, before more Falcons come in through the breached wall. But wait, who is that in the tree? Right, it is Robin Hood and Little John and they are being cool. Just waiting for the battle to end and then rob the king after: More can be seen on Flickr. Hope you like it! Quote
Matn Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Fantastic castle scene, Captain Green Hair! The details look very good, I like the use of those grey plates with clip. The battle tower looks also nice, I like it. You've captured the 80's feeling very well. Ha, Robin Hood is a nice touch. Quote
Tom Bricks Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Do those forestmen have sunglasses? Great job and good luck in the contest. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Great work CGH! I love the ornateness of the towers and walls. It has a real 80's feel like you say. Quote
Dragonator Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Nice work CGH, we'll make a castle builder of you yet! You've included some nice details on the walls, I particularly like the crenelations. The wooden tower top gives some nice variety, as do the various constructions behind the wall. You've done a good job on the landscaping; I can't say I've seen a river done like that before. Very neat. Good luck in the contest! Quote
Teddy Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 What a great castle scene! Now I wish you had build the entire castle. The moat is great. I like the use of the plates with clip on the battlements. The wooden tower is great as well, as is the siege engine. It surely has the 80s vibe. (And I see Mr. Whiskers is up to no good. Starting making trouble is this neighbourhood. ) Quote
Paul cantu Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 This is really cool. I like the overall design of the castle. The forestmen wearing shades is a great touch. Quote
Aliencat Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Very cool stuff! Especially for being your first Castle MOC in a long time! I like all the details you added, no part of it looks boring, and that cut-through on the sides is very well done. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Very well done, especially for a re-entry into the castle theme. The architecture is very nice; ornamental, but still practical looking. The cutaway tower is cool, and I like the burning wood on the house. Good luck in the contest! Quote
General Armendariz Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Ah, the perfect smackdown of there time! go black falcons! *ahem* Anyways, that castle sure does show the 80's castle feel. good job Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Awesome scene Captain! The work has paid off I see! I like the wooden tower, it fits nicely there. The siege tower is nice as well, I don't see them often. I also like the details scattered over the MOC. Good luck on the contest captain! Quote
