Dark_Avenger Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Hey all - this is probably the first big project I've made from scratch in the past couple years (everything else has been modding here and there), but after several days and a whole lotta pieces, my wizard has a tower to call home! Just the tower: ...and the mountain: River of probably-shouldn't-touch-that-stuff: Entrance to the mountain, you can see the outline of the alter: Detail on the crystal lines running down the rocks: Cave mouth on the side of the mountain, with a path and stairway leading to the tower: Detail on the tower: Entire model from behind: A hole runs from the roof of the tower to the wizard's study: The study: Inside of the mountain: Alter: Staircase leading to the outside path of the mountain shown before: I built the model in halves: the tower and mountain separate (otherwise it'd be terrible to carry): Obligatory battle scene: The wizard at home: More various pictures in the gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=397840 Special thanks to the Pick-a-Brick wall at the Woodfield LEGO Store - always a good and useful selection when I stop by! Torax Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Beautiful! Very solid colour scheme, but the tower looks a bit dull. Maybe you should add a little more windows? Also, how does he get to the top of the tower...? Overall, cool MOC! Quote
Dark_Avenger Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Beautiful! Very solid colour scheme, but the tower looks a bit dull. Maybe you should add a little more windows? Also, how does he get to the top of the tower...?Overall, cool MOC! Thanks Torax - I tried some windows, but they didn't work the way I wanted since the tower is zig-zagged on the edges, and I didn't just want them going all in a line up the front. I thought about doing some kind of design in the wall between the door and the top of the tower, but no ideas came - maybe I'll add it in the future. And I like to imagine the wizard can fly through the well to the top - makes it harder for enemies to follow. Quote
Bammboso Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 That´s a very impressive tower! It´s easy build (espacially the landscape at the bottom) but that doesn´t matter. It looks fantastic. I´m a big fan of detailed interieurs ---> love your wizard´s room Quote
Sandy Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Greatness! I'm loving the details you've put in, like the crystal veins and the well at the bottom. The tower lacks finesse, though. You might want to "decorate" the MOC with some bones or flames or brickbuilt gargoyles, perhaps? The battle scene made the tower instantly twice more interesting to look at, just because there's so many details. Also, how does he get to the top of the tower...? This is a wizard we're talking about! He uses magic, of course! Quote
Athos Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I think the dark grey bricks are too regular. They look like the tower has the chicken pox. What you could do is make them fill more than one brick-level at a time; stack some on top of each other. I do like how you've used the inverted slopes to make little holes in the wall. And the river is a nice touch. Steve Quote
Jipay Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I really like your MOC, but to be honest, the photography ruins it. The pictures make it seem a bit drab while it must render really good in real life ! Impressive building overall, reminds me of LOTR evil tower Quote
posades Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I really like the entrance to the mountain, it looks great. Also love the details you put in the interior, love it. Quote
ziljin Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Looks amazing. The battle scene rocks. The tower looks a tiny bit like the Orthanc from LOTR. Well mostly just the top. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Menacing! I like the laboratory and the black tiling. Quote
______ Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 This is one of those MOCs that gets more impressive by every picture, I love the mountain leading up to the tower and the whole little details added like the interior of the tower, also the stairs leading up look quite cool and are quite tricky to integrate in caves (well to me it is ). GT-Vince Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Astonishing, the battle scene is my absolute favorite. Perhaps you should build some catapults and stormtowers to complete it? The river is also a very nice touch Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Looks very cool Dark_Avenger! It reminds me of LOTR towers. I like the mountain and the river of, well I don't know. The interrior is nice, I like it how you can play with the wizard in his office, its nice and open from the back. Great job overall! CommanderFox Quote
The Penguin Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I've always wondered why mages live in towers. But after seeing that one I wouldn't mind having one for me. ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 What a nice EVIL looking MOC ! Great design, love the study - HP has nothing on this guy ! I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Big Cam Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I must agree with some previous comments, this is an amazing MOC but the pictures are bad, it takes away from the awesomeness of the tower. This is getting me excited for the new impulse buy Wizard set, although it won't come with a giant tower like this. Quote
