A funny battery train like a little diesel. The colors are well choosen. This set has everything to play along, when everything is build up. You only have to buy 3 batteries for the elec power. These batteries goes into the blue wagon directly behind the train itself. With the red pin on this wagon the direction og the train can be changed. With the signal you can stop the train or let him go.

This system is directly copied form the blue area trains, before 1980. You can modify this train with the modern 12v motor or with an old 12v motor form the blue area trains. In the track itself you put the innertrack for powersupply and add a speedregulator.

mine version had an old 12v motor in it. In this way it's like original as possible.

And the last wagon where a minifig can stand in:

And offcourse this is the second model you can make of this train:

Or you can make this one, which I do prefer:

I do like this set, because it's different form all the steamengine's form lego as train. Only the stickers are always a problem when you buy this set 2d hand :sceptic: . For diehards 12v freaks, you have to have this set. Also for beginning trainlovers a great addition to start your collection.

Playability: 8/10 (Build it up, add 3 batteries and start playing. Much cheapier then the elec trains).

Design: 8/10 (Train itself, GREAT design. Only the wagons could be better.)

Price: 8/10 (Affortable for collecters and beginners if you look and wait long enough.)

Overall: 8/10 (It's a great set, looks good and you can play without buying a speedregulator.)

This is definately one of those "cute" little train sets. I'm not a big fan of the wagons, but the Red Shunter certainly looks nice. -Reminds me of some of the custom 9V creations made to look like the famous Blue Shunter.

Sort of like this one:

Is that just a sticker on the blue battery boxcar?

Yes, that's a sticker and hard to get of you bought one without it :sceptic: .

A red 7760 is easily to made, als a green one :sweet: .

Maybe I build this 7720 in blue one day  .

I voted "above average" for this as at the time this was most definitely an above average set. We are used to more from models these days but I still think it is adorable. I never owned one but I might build it as a 9V at some point. It has a real classic feel to it.
