Sorry if this is a duplicate, but here's something that recently puzzled me.

I am trying to make an imp officer, but his head is really looks, so it twists really easily and sometimes slides off by itself. At the same, one of my Stormies and some of my Clone's heads are so tight you gotta yank it off, and I don't wanna damage the pieces. Usually to untighten a h ad, you just twist it a lot, but it still take a bunch of effort.

So, how do:

Heads get tighter

Necks get looser

Necks get tighter

And heads get looser?

I notice most of the loose heads are pretty old.

Well, I'm no expert, but I believe it is from the head being taken on/off or turned so much that the rubbing has smoothed down the neck/head until it turns freely and falls off.

Hope I've been of help. :)

Well I try to pull off a head that is jammed, I hold some cloth and then pull it. It stops your hands from being slippery and losing the parts.

If you want to use heads that are damaged and all off, The only thing I can recommend, other than using a thin layer of blue tac to wrap round the neck, is to just buy a new head off Bricklink.

It might sound stupid but I bought Republic Gunship Hasbro toy around 3 years ago, And I shot out these missles in the cannon. I didn't use them much, But a few days later when making some Lego Creations, the Long Female Hair got jammed on a head and I stuck the bottom of the Missile in the head and yanked the head, And it came off! Its a perfect utensill for Lego, because it fits perfectly in the head, and it doesn't get stuck when trying to take it off. If you have the Toy, try use the missile!:

Have you stored the MiniFig complete for a long period of time, and then taken it apart and put the parts into new combinations?

Maybe the parts have stretched to fit each other over time, which would make them difficult to re arrange?

I think either the heads and/or torsos have slightly different sizes. And over time it will probably loosen. I bought a bunch of Fantasy Era castle sets recently. Some heads are real tight, and some are just right.
