Matt Dawson Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) I got two sets today, due to some of the rarer parts. Range: Star Wars: TCW Pieces: 50 (i think); 5 are spare Cost: Free with paper: 45p if you buy the paper just for the set Release Date: 2009 A fairly normal image on the cover - no shooting, just a flypast of a moon: Quite a few abnormal pieces - at least to me: Instructions: After step four, most of the main lengthy body is built: The Spares: The finished Product: Side: Underneath: End: Conclusion: A nice set for 45p. A few rarer parts that you might not find in normal sets - a good buy if you need some of the parts but can't get enough of an order for Bricklink or PAB. Edited September 16, 2009 by KimT Quote
ben506 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Nice review. It's a shame that I haven't actually been able to get near a Smiths or Toys R Us this week, but have been getting the Mirror anyway (then recycling it without doing more than removing the vouchers). Shame I can't try and get multiples, as the £5.99 for sending it in would add up rather quickly. Quote
Matt Dawson Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) I only got the last two sets in multiples as some of the parts are quite nice. I thought the bit at the end was a 2x2 plate with the 4x1 dropdown on one side (known as a Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 4 - Bricklink part listing but was instead a "Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud" (see Bricklink list here The way i did it was to buy 2 daily Mirrors from sainsburys, walk to toys r us (during which I'd stop and remove both vouchers) then bin one just before entering TRU. I'd collect one from the customer service kiosk, then walk around, then go back to the kiosk afterwards. And they didn't even refuse in the slightest Now to start modding my City vehicles. mikey Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Another excellent little model, with some great parts (2 X Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud). A brilliant end to an amazing promotion, which has created a Star Wars Lego customer... Quote
Dunjohn Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Another excellent little model, with some great parts (2 X Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud). A brilliant end to an amazing promotion, which has created a Star Wars Lego customer... This was the most disappointing set for me, not that many interesting parts and a rather drab end result. Yesterday's V19 Torrent was the highlight of the run. Nice review! Tomorrow, we get a box to hold them in. Anybody wanna review that...? Quote
Big Cam Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Great mini model. I have the regular scae one and I must say LEGO did a great job modeling this. Only thing missing is a working cockpit. I like how they even thew in the tan and broen single stud pieces to give it some color like the originals checkerboard feel. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I got this set too today. I wouldn't say I found it dissapointing as you did however. I did like the brown and tan plates used to add extra colour though. Also I think they pulled off the shape very well for a mini. The review could use a little more juice to go with the pics but apart from that great. Quote
prateek Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Woah, that is pretty big for a promo Great review BTW, this set is good for parts. Quote
CommanderFox Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Nice review! The pics show the fighter really clearly and I like that! It's nice to see the instructions aswell overall very nice review CommanderFox Quote
Matt Dawson Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 I've built an alternative model from my spare set before it gets dismantled... Quote

Lord_Bloodwort Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) Cool Its like a mini speeder well done! CommanderFox I almost like the alternate one better than the original! Great job! I just realized it reminds me of the Cobra Gunship from the GI Joe Rise of Cobra movie. Great job! :) Edited September 13, 2009 by Lord_Bloodwort Quote
