Danthebrick Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Set 4097 Bantha Attack Battlepack Minifigs: 2 Tusken Warriors, Bantha handler, Tusken Shaman Pieces: 70 "Ride out accross the Dune Sea in search of prey. The Tuskens are out looking for loot or slaves to bring back to camp. Riding on top of their fearsome Bantha they search out vulnerable victims and lost droids! The warriors carry deadly rifles whilst the mysterious Shaman uses his ancient powers to summon up sand storms and raise the bravery of his comrades." Motivation: I like several other members am a closet Tusken fan but wanted to make a set that showed off their potential as a fighting force (I'm fed up of them being seen as weedy!). The obvious way to make them stronger was to build the mighty Bantha but I wasn't sure I could make one look decent, especially within the brick limit. In the end I remembered something from my childhood when we used to make elephants and this is pretty much the basic frame I started from. Getting down to 70 pieces was also really tricky and I had to loose some of the "hair" and a fancy war saddle I had made to come in but I think the end result is ok. ps Kim would you delete my other entry Box cover design The crew: 2 warriors, Bantha handler and Shaman side top front Quote
Fumoffu Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Your idea for this BP is a good one and the minifigures are good. The Bantha is probably a good effort given what you got to work with and if we just try to visualise what the Bantha could be without focusing too much on what's actually there then it is ok. Those horns/tusks keep making me think the Bantha is giving the viewer the "fingers". The Bantha really cracks me up the more I look at it. Its funny. Quote

The face was the hardest bit to do and yeah the horns do look they are insulting everyone! - I wanted to do a fully curled horn but couldn't get it to work. Quote
KimT Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 As much as I would love a Bantha, I don't think it belongs in a BP. But since there's no rules against a vehicle this large , you're still good to go. Best of luck. Quote
Danthebrick Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 no rules against a vehicle this large , you're still good to go. I nearly classed it as a single brick built minifig which would of left me loads of pieces to build my Tusken camp but I somehow thought I wouldn't get away with it! Quote
zebhra Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 nice vehicle esign, and its use clay for the torn? Quote
Danthebrick Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 use clay for the horn? yeah sort of - childrens plasticine! I tried to make some curved ones from putty but they kept breaking. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Those 'horns' are cracking me up. Good idea though. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) That's an awesome entry, Danthebrick! I really it! If you overworked the design of the Bantha it would be a perfect Tatooine BP which finally would include a Bantha we're so long waiting for! Very, very well done! Danthebrick Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Those 'horns' are cracking me up. hehe - are you suggesting I accidentally made them look like something rude?? That's an awesome entry, Danthebrick! I really it! If you overworked the design of the Bantha it would be a perfect Tatooine BP which finally would include a Bantha we're so long waiting for! Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Thanks for the comments and vote Klaus - means alot to me! My Bantha is very much a prototype and still trying to figure out a way to make the horns look decent - saw a picture once of a large Bantha which had used flexi pipes as the horns which I might try.
