Hey all you in Eurobricks land I come to you today with my first review. I'll be covering Vezok: the beast.

First we have the inventory,

vezok-inventory.jpg

41 parts in all. Some intresting stuff there, including several sand blue ball sockets, sand blue metru waist, light up eyes, some new lower leg pieces and a piraka skull.

Now for the limbs and components that make up the figure.

The torso:

vezok-torso.jpg

Made up of 6 parts. Unlike almost every other canned bionicle set released, the piraka contain no gear action feature. Doesn't really bother me, it allows for better posablity.

The legs:

vezok-legs.jpg

basicly the same type of thing we've seen since the toa metru, but with new animal-like feet, new lower legs, new upper-leg armor and longer upper legs.

The arms:

vezok-arms.jpg

The right contains a new lower piece which allows the wrist to swivel all the way behind. The left is just the same as a toa metru arm.

Face:

vezok-face.jpg

Basicly the most unique aspect of each piraka. Vezok has a "pissed off" to him with a nice big frown and bumpy (possibly representing stuble) chin.

Arsinal:

vezok-weapons.jpg

He's got (of course) the standard issue Zamor launcher and a harpoon/buzzsaw.

It's enough to make him look menacing.

Now on to the actual figure itself.

unarmed

crouching

hand up

buzzsaw power

harpoon power

Looks nice, has a repilian/"creature from beneath the sea" feel to it. There are enought ball & socket joints on this guy to get him in some nice poses. Although with the head being tethered to the rubbery spine, it kinda limits the ways you can move the head.

The light-up eyes work well.

Apparently the battery isn't replaceable, but there mite be a way to replace it. The Zamor Launcher serves its purpose, (to hurl plastic balls at people :-D ), But seriously these things can shoot pretty far and with a fair amount of force.

Overall I like this guy, he makes for a great action figure with some nice unintrucive features. For mocers there are some uniquely colored socket pieces and new lower legs that could be of some use.

Score:

Figure: 8

Pieces: 7

Playablity: 9

Overall: 8

Theres more pics in the gallery, after moderation.

Any photo request will be taken into consideration.

Thank you, and good night.

Thanks for the very good and detailed review.

It's funny - I look at the parts laid out on the table, and I think to myself..... "this set will suck - there's nothing here of interest".

Then I see it put together, and it looks kinda cool.

The loss of geared action is, as you say, no loss at all.

The Zamor launcher is a nice new feature. Better than the discs and torpedo shooters IMHO

I have to say though, the MOCing possibilities seem so-so. That head/spine/arm piece, WTF am I going to do with that. I'm sure Cajun or Jinzo or someone will figure out something they can do with it, but I am baffled.

How is the light activated? Is there any way it can be switched on from a distance (like with a long axle somehow attached?)

Nice review. Thanks.

Ah, I'm glad to see the short end of the weapon can still serve as a passable "hand" visually like it can on the green one.

And to answer your question gylman, the light is activated by a little press-button that lies under a rubber tab at the back of the head. It takes quite a bit of pressure to get that sucker down through the tab or through direct contact. I'd assume you'd have to construct some way to transfer enough pressure to the button directly downward to get it to "remotley activate" in any way...in short...it's probably more trouble then it's worth and would probably add too much "kibble" to the figurenuts.GIF

For a Bionicle, it doesn't look all that bad. A lot better then the first Toa (only Bionicle I own, so I'm always comparing Bionicle to them). Just the face...that's one huge <insert that tiresome argument> pieces of *enter bad word here*.

It is, there's people who've done it.

Yeah, the instruction book, the Lego reps and everybody connected to Lego says you can't, but that seems to be just a way to avoid liability with kids handling batteries, or maybe to keep the age limit lower, probably something along those lines.

You have to CAREFULLY push the nibs holding it together with a small pin, while not scratching it up too bad.

Voila!

Well that's quite the revival..

Anyway, Mephek was making a reference to

. Yeah, that's not fanmade, it was a (very odd) official ad.

Nailed it.

I was quoting the piraka song from 06

Looking at the post from Mephek again, I realized this topic is not only outdated, it outdates my lego.com account, one of the ten oldest active accounts on the Lego Message Boards. I'm sorry for reviving this a week after Mephek revived it, please forgive me.

I know This topic is ancient, but why it's up here...

Has it been almost 10 years since this set came out already? I still remember picking it up and Starting my bionicle collection, and it remains my favorite bionicle set to date. With the dual weapon, spines, zamor launcher, light up eyes, and color scheme. Nostalgia is awesome. :classic:

Huh, I must say, the Piraka were among the sets I passed, as I didn't like their heads and the design of their arms. I later got three of the brown one (due to being only 2€ each), and I must say, they did have some nice pieces. I particulary like the light-up eyes, especially since these also work with the Toa Metru heads.

Hey guys, so I do know this is literally a decade old but having just collected a used Vezok, I have a few questions. I see in the parts inventory you provided that all the Zamor Spheres are in different colors. I believe one is a very light shade of green, another is blended with the light and solid shade, one is solid green while the last is a darker shade of green. I'm just wondering if anyone can clarify what colors the Zamor Spheres are in the actual set since I'm a little curious to know. Also, I believe that the 2010 Hero Factory Villains have the same Zamor Sphere as the light shade of green. Can anyone clarify for me? It would really help since I nitpick which ones are actually supposed to be part of the set.

I think they were randomly packaged. I own four Piraka and can verify the majority is a shade of lime-light-green. But my Vezok included just one sphere in dark green. The Toa Inika had a similar issue, were some of the Nuparu and Hewkii figures came with orange spheres, and others with red spheres and sometimes a mix of both.
