Continuing my journey southeast of Grave Stone, the River Boat may be in a bit of trouble as this small Confederate Steam Boat makes its way downstream. The design is based off Adventurers set 5976 River Expedition with some modifications including the color, cargo, and Confederate naval crew.

Oh this is a wonderful creation here TheBrickster, you never cease to amaze me with how many ideas you manage to pull from the western style genre, ghouls or no. This really seems like a proper Lego set, and I would definitely buy this in a heartbeat. The little flag is a great touch, as are the matching hands this time

The boat has this great simple look to it, but the details are always appreciated such as the rifle rack, cannon, steam engine and cannon ammo pile. If there's on criticism from me it's that the "below deck" seems quite bare.

This is a very promising subtheme from you and I'm really enjoying it, do you plan to continue it?

Batbrick Away!

Another nice western river set, though part of me would like to see it with a wheel rather than screw driven. Can I ask a couple of questions how is the canon mounted can it be turned to face both side? Also were did you get those wonderful western backgrounds from?

As always, thanks for the feedback guys. It's great to have a small core group that always takes time to provide comments on your creations.

I wish I could take credit for the design of this little boat, but it's much of the same as that of River Expedition (with some modification and different colors).

If there's on criticism from me it's that the "below deck" seems quite bare.

The picture came out very dark, but it actually has a few more details that aren't visible.

I just might. I like Civil War history, and I draw some inspiration from Playmobil's Western theme that included Confederate troops, something definately missing from the Lego Wild West theme.

This looks great but I feel it's missing a paddle like your Bloody Mary ship had.

It's not a paddle boat though. - darn paddle wheels always bite you in the @$$.

Currently it can't be turned. It's mounted on one upside down slope and a 2x2 brick. I may change this though.

I created the backgrounds based on the original Wild West Box art, with some modification, most of the shapes cut from other images. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the image of the boat is a bit dark.

A nice looking ship, now I think an Ironclad ship would be nice to add to your collection as well.

TLG should buy your line and release it to the public!

Hello!

An adorable little boat! I have a favor for small minifigure-scaled creations, and this one makes me smile. :classic: I also think the soldier uniforms you arranged by those firemen torsos are excellent! They're a great variation for a different soldier fraction. :classic:

Cheers,

Nice concept (a steam boat), which definitely turned out good. I like MOCs that have this set-like feel to them.

I just might. I like Civil War history, and I draw some inspiration from Playmobil's Western theme that included Confederate troops, something definately missing from the Lego Wild West theme.

I wish TLG would 'borrow' some more Playmobil ideas. Playmobil has/had excellent themes, with original ideas for sets.

Looking good!

A nice blend of steampunk, realism, new and old parts, and techniques.

River Expedition is a set I really should have got at the time, lots of great stuff going on in it, not to mention Gabarro.

"Send them back your fierce defiance!

Stamp upon the accursed alliance!

To arms ! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!"

That's one great creation, TheBrickster! ) :classic::thumbup:

I really love the design of the boat! I'm not a spcialist in American history, but it loks very authentic to me. )

keep the good work up! )

Thanks fellas.

This was intended to be an iron clad ship. I suppose it doesn't look too "iron-like" with a black hull.

I also think the soldier uniforms you arranged by those firemen torsos are excellent! They're a great variation for a different soldier fraction. :classic:

I was really shooting for something different than the normal blue and greys, and liked the classic firemen buttons and belt.

Yes, they really do. And they offered both Union and Confederates. In fact, I think they still do as "add-ons".

Thanks Slyowl. I'm glad you like the creation.

It's one of my favorite sets.

Simple, but it has nice appearance and I like it!

I'm not too fancy, so I like a simple, clean design as well.

You should have been a Wild West set designer.

That's a great compliment Ratshot. Thanks.

To arms ! To arms! To arms, in Dixie!"

Damn straight!

That's an absolutely awesome Western MOC, TheBrickster! :oh:

I really  it!

It looks absolutely realistic and the details are stunning! :oh:

I even like the very official set character of it and the official box art you added to it.

You even showed that boats/ships not necessarily have to be very big to look good but that medium sized ships can look brilliant, too.

Very, very well done!

Very reminscient of the Adventurers River Expedition boat. But that works here.

My only real complaint is the background doesn't really fit with a southern river boat.

Another Great MOC Brickster

I love the ammo sitting around the deck for the cannon.

It is nice and small and looks like it could make a fast getaway if needed.

Great job!

Brickster, I'm loving your river gunboat (and all of your American Civil War series sets). Nice work on the packaging background, too. You're right about adding some green to give it the deep South look most commonly associated with the Civil War (even though there were Union & Confederate units operating way out west in Texas, New Mexico, and California).
