I was just clicking my way through Brickshelf, and found these pictures of new educational LEGO sets for 2010 with a city-theme, and thought of posting them here for your enjoyment.

The use of the new torsos and hairpieces and fresh, modern colors in the buildings are what makes these sets extra appealing at least to me.

Too bad these aren't really sold to private people. Maybe I'll found a foster care home (I actually could, with my social care degree) just to get an excuse to buy these sets.

I saw these the other day on Bricklink, and I have to say I'm very interested in them.

I know of a place that sells Dacta sets, and they'll order sets specifically for you (me?). I'm planning on getting one of these sets for myself, so if you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Alright fresh ideas - hehe !

The transport and shops sets look fantastic - makes you want to be a kid at school again eh !

I should show these pictures to my son's teachers - the science and technology teacher will flip out !

I'm a conformist! !

I did many times calculations and ended up in conclusion that Dacta sets just charge premium as they are not meant for private people. I would not suggest in buying one as you can get the interesting parts much cheaper off from BL.

At least in the US, Lego Education will sell to anyone. I've been buying stuff from them since the late 90s. The sets do tend to be expensive, more than normal Lego sets, but they often have good deals on bulk Technic parts. They added a "global" section to their website a few years ago, so it may be possible to buy from them in other countries now too.

I like the emergency and airport/space sets here. The part selection looks quite generic (in contrast to past Lego Education sets), but they have a very classic look and feel that I like.

Thanks for sharing :classic:

What interests me most is all those nice civilian figs! :oh:

How come this theme gets better city figs, than the acutal city theme? :sceptic:

Hopefully parts in new colors and new torsos will be featured.

There's an Education Centre here in Melbourne where you can buy LEGO education stuff, but from a parts/price they're not good value. Interesting to see the variety of uncommon parts in the 9385 set - turkey, black broomstick and red kettle! And the brown parts look like Old Brown...but that's just wishful thinking :sceptic: .

I think it's awesome (and sad at the same time) that the education hospital and police look better than their CITY counterparts.

The hospital which was released in 2005 i believe, really was quite bad, but you must be kidding on the police station. The station released 2 years ago for me is the best police station ever released, and this here looks like NOTHING compared to it lol

I saw in the PDF also something called "Lego Soft" with big soft pieces to build your own gardenhouse or something like that. That looked also very nice.

I'm dead serious. Sure the Education Police looks kiddy, but the look of that thing looks more like a real life Police Station rather than the CITY 08 Police Station. Town/CITY Police Stations are always some of the biggest and most fun to play with (I had the 1996 one... or 1997?) in all of Town/CITY lines but you gotta admit they're a bit ridiculous and over the top, literally sometimes, as they are often the tallest buildings in all of the Lego Town/CITY sets. :classic:

I've had the pleasure of playing with these, quite a few years ago now. Melbourne Museum has a whole lot of this stuff, and kids can build houses and things. It's great! Here's a pic: 1354218998_5cae985f11_o.jpg

Wow first time I hear about Lego Soft, they're such an awesome idea! I would have loooved to have such bricks when I was young, the possibilities are tremendous! I imagine building Lego houses that I could actually crawl in, climb on... Hmm but then it would have been so expensive!

Anyway, Lego keeps rocking! :sweet:

They have these at http://www.legoeducation.us/store/. It doesn't seem like you have to be a teacher to buy these especially since they sell items for home schooling as well.

As for the pricing, the price per piece ratio isn't as good as for brick buckets or Creator sets, but it's about as good as most basic Lego sets. And the amount of minifigs that come with some these are ridiculously high.
