danim Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 This is a MOC I have started for Bricklingston, it will run right down the main street above the pavment/sidewalk and will be motorised. I am hoping it will seat about 4 minifigs, possibly more well enough with the description, on with the pics As I said this is still a wip and it will be about twice as long and twice as high but that will be when I get the parts Quote
ImLost Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I think this is a cool concept having a motorized cable car running through your city. But I feel your MOC will look so much better if you use matching colors. Anyways, look forward to see the finished product! Quote
danim Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 the reason it is different colours is because of the lack of parts that I have the reason for doing this is because I wanted to have some sort of train type thing in Bricklingston and I decided that trains were too big and the monorail was too expensive so I went with the cable car system. This is the 4th attempt at getting it to work as my first few ideas did not work as the cable car was tearing the buildings of Bricklingston from their foundations (baseplates) along with my large feet Quote
Tom Bricks Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Is this one of those trains that runs on cables above the ground and on a track or is it suspended in the air. If it's one of the suspended ones you might want to look at this set. Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Looks like a Jules Verne canon to me... Quote
slacker int Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 This is a very interesting concept Daniel. I completely understand your reasoning behind this project... trains/monorails require a fairly large space for good incorporation into a city. Is this one of those trains that runs on cables above the ground and on a track or is it suspended in the air. If it's one of the suspended ones you might want to look at this set. This is a great idea from Tom Bricks, and was exactly what I thought of as well when I saw your idea. The set with the cable car is number 4852, the final showdown keep us updated on your progress! danim Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 I have used the spiderman cable car set as functional help as I tried it just using wire but it was causing the buildings to come off of the baseplates so I had a look at the set and realised that there was a rail type thing which the cable car ran along and was moved by string attached to the round things that you get in technic sets, so I created mine and then added in an axel at the large round thing on the cable car rail which I can connect a motor to. The Progress I have doubled the length of it so it now does not fit onto the table in the first pics and instead of having it as 1 tower high it is now two towers high as well as having one of the small pirates boats connected to it to see if a cabin could be built, pics will be uploaded after I get home Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Looks impressive what you have done so far 'Damin', have you thought of having it travel up a hillside to a fancy hotel - you could have it depart from a normal train platform and it would be the only way to go to and fro this hotel. Just a thought, anyway keep going - I would like to see the end result ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
danim Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Thanks for all the comments Lightning Tiger, I thought about doing a hill but my layout does not allow for that plus it is in the middle of the city now on with the new pics An overview of the cable car/tramway as it is just now but it will be getting extended even more and a close up of the gondola (the cable car its self) The gondola will be a proper design as this is just so I can see what it is like in motion And finally the running gear, there is one at the other end as well, this one will be connected to a motor at some point but for now it is connected to the Micro Scout when I wish to run it At some point I will post a video of it in motion Quote
danim Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 well the cable car has been installed into bricklingston and a station has started being constructed above the tv station, it has been decided by the builders that the boat will stay as it allows the cable car to move without a complete rebuild pics and video to be posted later Quote
danim Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) here are the photos of the construction in Bricklingston as well as two videos, the rail is still to be extended as well as the stations bein[g built Edited March 24, 2010 by danim Quote
