lightningtiger Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I've been busy again........ How this for a ballast wagon, comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Brickthus Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 What will you use for ballast? 1x1 round plates are the smallest round piece, since the various ball pieces are too big. Interesting to test a hopper to see how well it unloads your chosen ballast. Does it empty straight downwards, through the track, or to the sides? Mark Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Thanks for the reply 'Mark Bellis', I have based this hopper on the one's used in Oz and yes, it dumps in the middle not the sides. Here we have ballast cars used on the Adelaide to Darwin railway (took nearly a hundred years to do but we got there in the end), although these have radio control pneumatic operated hoppers - they dump dead centre of the track. Mine is of course manually operated, I have tried some 1x1 tiles and they were fine - it worked. I'm a conformist! ! Quote

Captain Zuloo Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Nice MOC! Good functionality there, perhaps you could build an elevated unload station. Are you familiar with the dumping facilities? And what loco is in the photo, I don't recognise it... Quote

Thanks 'Captain Zuloo', might just build that station you said, oh that train was the track laying of the Adelaide to Darwin railline a few years ago. I'm a conformist! ! P.S. sorry 'The Brickster' about the oversize photo I'll watch what images I upload here. Quote
