legolooney Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 When i saw this little piece in my local high street i couldn't resist, and when i found no reviews or mentions of it I decided to do my, so here for you is a review of the LEGO Minifigure Torch Keyring! BOX Front: The box is pretty simple, no plastic, just acts as a very LEGO looking frame to the product. Shows the age to be 5+ Back: The back sticks with the yellow colour scheme and shows the 4 main features plus arrows to show its maneuverability. INSTRUCTIONS Front: These are fold out instructions, the front shows a diagram of the product along with all the licencing bits, copyright and Trademark etc. Back: The reverse of the intructions shows how to change the batteries. It takes 2 lots of CR2025 3V Content:The actual instructions are very small and available in 24 languages including, English, Danish, Japanese and Korean FIRST LOOK Front: As you can see a very plain minifig. The head is the new take on the classic LEGO head, with added shape to the mouth and white sparkle in the eyes. I'm glad they kept the fig simple. Back: The back is just as you would expect it but with a battery cover. Here you can also see it was made in China (what isn't?). Also notice the leg piece is slightly irregular. Bottom: The base of the minifigure is where the 2 LEDs are, one in each foot. This is good because 2 is better than 1 and its nice and symmetrical. TORCH The torch consists of two Bright White light LEDs. The lights are activated by pressing the LEGO logo on the centre of the torso. They are very powerful and easily lit up a darkened room, perfect for finding the lock on you fornt door at night! SIZE Heres a couple of photos to give you an idea of size. its actually measurements are 7cm (Head to Toe) 4.5cm (hand to hand) with a torso width of about 2.7cm FEATURES Maneuverability: All parts move in the exact same way a minifigure does. The legs move forward at 90 degrees and are limited going backweards, just like the real thing. The head can do as many spins as you like as can the arms. Keyring: The keyring is the same design as the keyrings used for ordinary minifig keyrings. (did I say keyring too much?) Also... for those who were wondering you can remove the arms and hands just as you can in and ordinary minifigure as they have the exact same joints. The legs however are firmly attached (for obvious reasons) OVERALL I really like this product, it is very useful and fun. It looks great on your keyring although it is a little bulky for your pocket. Non-LEGO-lovers will think it's cool and 'retro' Its a great conversation starter too! (is that sad) I would love to see more of these on the same scale with minifigs form other sets. Big Cam Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 OMG, that's awesome! I must get one of these. Is it available at S@H? Great pics too, you really got good shots and a fun comparision to his mini twin. Quote
Izzy Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Nice Review... I took pictures of my one a little while ago but never got around to putting them up. So thanks, now I don't have to. Hehe. I really love this guy, and the lights really are SUPER bright, I have indeed used him to see and be able to unlock my door at night on several occasions. I paid $10 AUS for mine. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) The last pic was creepy... The legs do seem a little closer to the head then on a minifig. They are so super-bright they can "unlock" doors, you say...? Edited April 1, 2010 by indianajones Quote

RileyC Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 I have one of these and the light is so useful. ITs really bright as well which surprised me because its just a keyring. Its a neat thing Quote
danim Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 you can also get them in different colours as mine is red with blue arms Quote

MrTools Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I love it, i may have to pick one of these up. Quote
avoidz Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) I've seen these in my local Kmart for a month or so. IIRC, they come in two different color schemes: blue torso and legs with reds arms (as pictured ^^) and red torso and legs with blue arms. Edited April 2, 2010 by avoidz Quote
Aanchir Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 My brother and I got a pair of these last year-- mine is red with blue arms, and his is blue with red arms. Ours, interestingly, didn't come in boxes-- instead, a multitude of them were mounted with one leg planted in a display stand. So perhaps the boxed versions are only in non-US markets? I dunno. They're rather useful and stylish. I keep mine attached to a carabiner watch on my belt loop. A warning, though-- my brother's similar watch broke last year and he had to keep his minifig light in his pocket. As a result the face printing began to wear away. Quote
k_peek_2000 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I love how it moves and the arms and hands come off like a real minifig, that's quality right there. That's why we all love Lego :) Quote
