FinalFeature Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) Updates on Page 3. With all the new parts coming out lately i decided to start building the USS enterprise. I don't think anyone else has ever made a minifigure scale version yet. Anyhelp on building the outside of it will be very appreciated. Heres what i want it to look like. (Credit to Google images) This is still a Work in progress so i'll keep the updates coming every once in a while. More pictures can be found on Flickr. FeedBack is appreciated. Wow, this will be pretty darn big when you're finished! I wish you the best of luck. Thank you both. I have spent about 4 days trying to get the shape right. Im thinking of using a mindstorm in it, anyone else like that idea? I probally will have updates by tomorrow. The finished project will hopefully be 6feet long. LegoGalactus Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 A unique and ambitious project. Good luck with it. I’ll be watching for updates. Quote
Fugazi Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) Wow this is an awesome project, albeit quite a difficult one too! Besides the sheer number of parts needed, the biggest problem in my view is to support the different volumes. The saucer will certainly need its own support, as the connection to the engineering hull won't stand the weight of the saucer. Moreover, the warp nacelles will be quite difficult to support from the pylons alone. The angle of the pylons and the offset connection to the nacelles will require more support than Lego alone will provide. You may wind up having the same rigidity problems as the makers of the original filming model It should be possible to use a metal frame as a skeleton around which you can build the ship, but this will require some soldering skills! In any case, I certainly don't want to put you down, I'm quite excited about your project and I hope it turns out as great as it sounds! Keep us posted! Edited April 21, 2010 by Fugazi Quote

Lord Arjay Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Pretty good so far. But only time (and the finished model) will allow me to give a good opinion on it. Quote
Fires-storm Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Wow, I always wanted to do this but never had the bricks, what an awesome, nay, an epic! Idea. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Quote

Im glad you like the idea. The signature should be updated shortly. This model is going to be soo epic, any updates? Thanks k_peek_2000. It might take a while for this too be finished since there seems to be no other models to get inspiration from. Here are he updates so far. The main charachters so far. The second row figures are still being worked on. I also need to add ears to spock. Any links to decals of there heads would be appreciated. Note: The monitors, screens, etc will be changed once i get around to doing that. The front wall comes off, giving it the tv feel. Thats all for now. Expect updates in a week. Feedback is appreciated. LegoGalactus Quote
sok117 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 How are you going to attach the a disc sort of thing around the control room? oh and keep up the good work, I can't wait to see it once it's done. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I've been visiting this hangar bay periodically to watch the construction of the Enterprise. The bridge is coming along nicely. Scotty looks real good. Quote

And mixing up fleshies with the original ones is a no-go. You may want to check this topic. And over here are some interesting decals (post #6) from other EB members. But definitely the best site is over here. Now get back to work. EDIT: I found a nice pic of the bridge: Quote
Dreamweb Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I don't think that's the real minifig scale, it would have to be a lot bigger. If I'm not mistaken, the original Enterprise had 21 decks and 400+ crewmembers. That would be almost impossible to build. But it looks like you're doing a fine job so far with your version. Good luck! Quote
Forresto Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 EDIT: I found a nice pic of the bridge: nice find Holodoc! I believe that is one of 'SirNadorj's' that he sold at some charity event. Quote
Big Cam Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Looks very promising, I like your trek fig's. Quote
Holodoc Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 nice find Holodoc! I believe that is one of 'SirNadorj's' that he sold at some charity event. Sorry for not giving credits, but I just browsed Google with "Lego Enterprise" so I don't know the builder. If it's SirNadroj - well done! Quote
Skulls_Eye_Schooner_Sailor Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) Nice looking bridge. But, I agree about the figs. Some look good and some don't. Also, what is up with the colored paper on the wall? That's just a placeholder right? And how would build a Klingon ship, buy a Statue of Liberty? Some technic and some different type of plates. I've been visiting this hangar bay periodically to watch the construction of the Enterprise. The bridge is coming along nicely. Scotty looks real good. Thank you TheBrickster. I think the head matched scotty best. Looks very promising, I like your trek fig's. Thanks BigCam! I spent a while trying to make the figures look as accurate as possible. If anyone would like to download the decals just ask. Nice looking bridge. But, I agree about the figs. Some look good and some don't. Also, what is up with the colored paper on the wall? As requested, here is the crew with custom decals so far. I haven't completely applied the decals yet. Pictures of the upgraded ship will be posted on Saturday. Feedback is appreciated. FinalFeature Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Sorry for the delay everyone. The reason for the delay is that i had found my dog dead and have been sad since. But anyway here are some more pictures of the Bridge that i promised. Comparing with the real version. (credit to Google images) Feedback is appreciated. gotoAndLego Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I think your bridge is too large. From that photo there should be less space between the inner area and the red railing. Quote
