WesternOutlaw Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I've posted some of these images on different threads, but here is a collection of Ghost Town images. These were inspired by a mystery that I wanted to do on Eurobricks, but members seem to have lost interest in the mystery idea. In any case, here are most of the images: *skull* Quote
Aredhel Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Wow, thats really cool! And you did a lot of good images to show the atmosphere! Good work! *y* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 30, 2006 Governor Posted March 30, 2006 The Brickster, it appears you put quite some effort into creating these MOCs for your mystery so its a same that it never got up off its feet. I don't have much time right now so I'll write more about them lately. Are these all the images? Some of the building look interesting and I wouldn't mind seeing close ups or different angles... WesternOutlaw Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Thanks for the feedback (Aredhel and Phes). I ended up wrecking the town and boxing up all the pieces. The Shady Inn (version 2) was the largest of the buildings that included a bar, upstairs, and two hotel rooms. I thought I had taken a few more images, but I can't seem to locate. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 31, 2006 Governor Posted March 31, 2006 No matter The Brickster, there's still plenty here to work with. After a quick look this thing... captures my attention... This is a very intriguing and interesting looking custom mini-figure! I notice the image file name is "ghost rider", could you tell us more about this character? Quote
Brick Miner Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 This is a very intriguing and interesting looking custom mini-figure! I notice the image file name is "ghost rider", could you tell us more about this character? i agree... this is a very inspiring minifig MOC !!! great job!!! he has lots of character. i would like to see the glow-in-the-dark version of the head though !!! this head and the the glow-in-the-dark ghosts make an appearance in my ghost town !!! it a glow in the dark theme :-) can i ask, what type of camera are you using to capture such a great images ??? what is the price range and specs ??? im in the market. - brick miner Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 The camera that I used to take these images is an older Sony 2.1 Cybershot. - It takes very good close up shots (in fact better than a newer 5.1 that I use). I'm very partial to Sony digitals though. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 31, 2006 Governor Posted March 31, 2006 (edited) The Brickster, and what of the mini-figure me and Mr Brick Miner are inquiring about? Did you respond in a rush or something or did you completely miss where we asked? Edited March 31, 2006 by mister_phes Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 The Ghost Rider (or Phantom Rider actually called) is the spirit of a dead outlaw. Much of his background is shrowded in mystery, but legend says that he rides out of the Dark Chasm during full moons seeking vengance upon the Town of Gravestone. Some say he was hung unjustly while others say that he owned the deed to a gold mine that was stolen from him; his spirit haunting the hills and mines near Gravestone. Much of the mystery also lies within the dust-covered buildings of Gravestone, a once booming little town whose inhabitants left after the gold in the nearby hills was picked dry. Some say that there is an ancient Indian curse on Gravestone and the Phantom Rider has something to do with that curse. Gravestone is now merely a dilapidating old ghost town that only a few call home, but on any night with a full-moon, those foolish enough to stay the night in Gravestone may see the ghastly glowing green eyes of the Phantom Rider staring at them; and that will be the last thing that they see. *skull* Quote
Brick Miner Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 The camera that I used to take these images is an older Sony 2.1 Cybershot. - It takes very good close up shots (in fact better than a newer 5.1 that I use). I'm very partial to Sony digitals though. i can't seem to find "sony 2.1 cybershot" or "sony 5.1 cybershot" on ebay anywhere !!! it seems that all the cybershots list there have names as follows: SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-(followed by a LETTER)(followed by a NUMBER or NUMBERS). for example i can find: SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-S60 SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-W1 SONY CYBERSHOT DSC-T7 and others like them. they all seem to have 1 letter in the name, and no points in the numbers,... can you specify which version you like ??? thanks so much for the information !!! i really appriciate it also, if anyone else has a digital camera type and model they love for taking close up shots of their legos, i could use their feedback !!! my budget is around $135.00 USD. thanks again - brick miner Quote
Sir Dillon Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Very nice creations, Brickster. I really like the look of the Shady Inn, though not the place i'd prefer to spend the night at. X-O The photo work is also very good! *y* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 Thanks. Ya, you'd want to stay away from the Shady Inn. On the camera, my older one that I'm partial to for the close-ups is a DSC-S50 (2.1 Cyber-shot). Quote

Norro Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 This is a great collection of images... it is nicew to have them all gathered under one thread. You have a wonderful ability to capture mood in the backgrounds. I also like the way your custom MOCs fit with the Lego western theme so smoothly. God Bless, Nathan Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 That mystery set of photos had a great looking feeling to them... I suppose you could apply mystery to pirates, caste or wild west with equally dramatic effect. Nice job though. Quote

They were to big to cartoonish but you captured the real lego way.{i didn't know i could sound like an art critic} Quote
