Carbohydrates Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 When I posted my last Western MOC, the gun shop, I asked people for ideas of buildings that would fit in well in a Western town. The two most commonly suggested were a post office and a doctor's office. Well, I haven't tackled the post office yet, but here's an attempt on the latter! Made in LDD this time because I wanted to enter the contest. This, like the previous one, is built to fit in with LEGO's official Western sets: it's on a 16x32 tan baseplate with a black fence and the back is open. I wanted to build this one with subtle earth tones, so I wanted to avoid bright primary colors on it. I didn't intend to build two green buildings in a row, but sand green is just so beautiful! Quote
SirWacky Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Very nice! I love the texture on the walls! Great job! Quote
the Inventor Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Really great. I love that color, it make the building look even better. The design of the building is great, I especially like the lanterns and the interior. the Inventor Quote
TheWarden Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Very nice with an interesting color scheme. Your doctor scared me a bit just walking around with a knife like that. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Very nice. My favorite part is the skull on the fence; really adds that 'Western feel' to the MOC. Quote
prateek Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Great! The wall texture really gives it the Western feel Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Nice LDD job there 'Carbohydrates' - really has that western feel about it. It must in a larger town because most small settlements didn't have doctors, they had barbers hence the red/white candy striped poles indicating blood/bandages - mainly for bullet removal. I'm a conformist! ! Quote

I'm a conformist! ! I didn't know that! Thanks very much for the neat tidbit of information there. Here's the doc's office in the context of a town (3 official LEGO buildings, 2 of mine). I figure once the saloon/hotel is done, it'll be a pretty respectable town! Quote
Rick Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Great Western town you've created so far. As others have pointed out, the wall technique on your latest building is very creative. Would really like to see it 'in brick'. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 That's a totally amazing Western MOCset, Carbohydrates! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic and fits very well with all the official WW sets released in 1996. The exterior as well as the interior is designed perfectly and full of details. The only two things I miss are a horse and a civlian (who is on his/her way to the doctor). Otherwise it's perfect. Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
