xwingyoda Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Guys, Like I said previously, I bought all the Batman sets and I have a weird problem with the new gold rim parts: they are not the same rims as pictured on the box and as pictured in Vader's and Jay's reviews >:-( The same problem with the Dragster's rim *wacko* Does any Europeans have this problem ?? I will call Lego monday to try and have answers :-/ Maybe its special Europeans rim *wacko* . No guns in the Dino line, different rims in the Batman line :-| That is really annoying me !! Those rims are nice but not as nice as the "real" rims ;-) *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Wow thats bad, i would be most upset if all the euro sets have different rims if this is the case then it sucks. Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 7, 2006 Author Posted April 7, 2006 Hey Vader, its not only my set, I opened Ras' set (with his consent of course), and the rims are not the good one either *wacko* All that is weird !! Welcome to the Lego Batman Twilight Zone :-P *yoda* Quote
xenologer Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Huh Those New Rims look nice I think I'd rather have them then the ones in the photos... but thats just my opinion... can you fit a technic pin into the hole in the center? (on the front side, I already know the back side does that) Quote
snefroe Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 my question is this: where does this part come from? if this part is in no other set then this, wouldn't that suggest it was specifically designed for this set? Quote
Norro Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 That is bad... but whyt would they change it? God Bless, Nathan Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 xenologer, The rims are wide enough to fit a technic pin on each side 8- Quote

xwingyoda Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 xenologer, The last pic is from the dragster, so I guess that rim "problem" (or whatever) touches every bat set with rims: dragster and batmobile ;-) *yoda* Quote
captaintau Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 My Batman Dragster rims: Note, they are the same as on the box. I got mine through Bricklink from a seller in the states Quote
jonfett Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 No idea why they did this change?! Maybe you put them backwards Yoda! At least we get to own collecters editions, might sell mine on eBay as rare and then use the extra money to buy another batmobile! Jon. Quote
blueandwhite Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Honestly, if you can put a pin in either side, then these rims are a significant imrpvement on the originals. Quick question: Do these rims look the same on both sides, or is the other side similar to the interior of the American rim? Later. Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 Quick question: Do these rims look the same on both sides, or is the other side similar to the interior of the American rim? Yes, the interior is the exact same as the american rims ;-) Since there are two-sided, the interior can be used as classic old cars rims hehe !! *yoda* Quote
jegoing Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Guys,Like I said previously, I bought all the Batman sets and I have a weird problem with the new gold rim parts: they are not the same rims as pictured on the box and as pictured in Vader's and Jay's reviews >:-( The same problem with the Dragster's rim *wacko* Does any Europeans have this problem ?? Those rims are nice but not as nice as the "real" rims ;-) *yoda* That is odd that a territory would get a different RIM. The sets released in the US and Canada have a rim that is more beefed up and suited for the armored batmobile/dragsters. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Have you tried contacting LEGO? They might send you the other rims. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Have you tried contacting LEGO? They might send you the other rims. I think they just changes it for the European release, since Ras' set also had these rims...or Yoda just has a weird batch of Batman sets :-P Quote

I think they just changes it for the European release, since Ras' set also had these rims...or Yoda just has a weird batch of Batman sets :-P Well, from the sound of things, the European rims are an improvement on the older North American versions as they can be turned around for a more retro look. Honestly, its not like the US ones looked that good to begin with. If I could, I would love to have reversed them as the interior on the rims actually looks better than the exterior. So congrats to you Europeans on once again getting the better set *y* ! Later. Quote
reideen1313 Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I'm working on getting an answer for you on this gang. I'll let you know what I come up with. (Sorry I haven't been around - real life tends to get in the way from time to time.) Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 21, 2006 Author Posted April 21, 2006 Tks a lot reideen1313, Your help would be much appreciated for solving this Bat Mystery !! No worries, hope to see you soon and more around ;-) *yoda* Quote
reideen1313 Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Still working on this.... I've pointed it out to my LEGO contacts and they're researching the two different rims. Hope you guys don't mind, but I used your photos as examples of the differences. Thanks for posting those!! Quote

Hope you guys don't mind, but I used your photos as examples of the differences. Thanks for posting those!! No problem. But, if it affects LEGO in the future, will we get any commission for contribution to R&D or whatever? ;-) Free (or even reduced) entry into LEGOland this Saturday would be fine. X-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 26, 2006 Author Posted April 26, 2006 reideen1313, I don't mind at all that you are using my pics to solve this mystery ;-) I do appreciate the time and effort your are putting into this !! Tks a lot hehe !! *yoda* Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Okie, sorry for double posting but I needed to give you an update on this pending issue ;-) Here is what Steve Witt, aka speaknspell said on this issue so far: Strangely enough, there was no clear answer when I was over in DK. what they said to me was that sometimes the pictures on boxes are different because the final element hasn't been designed yet. This is not the answer to the question, but I thought it was interesting anyways. Just wanted you to know I was still looking into it. Steve Maybe one day we'll have a clear answer on that ;-) *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 a strange reaction from Lego, if you're asking me. If it's a mistake, then it's mistake, if it's a European release then it's just that. Why the mystery? surely some one of the board must be able to provide a decent answer for Steve and community? ... *wacko* Quote
JoshW Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 That is really wierd. I have gotten mismolded pieces before, but not an entirely different piece. Josh Quote
