Superkalle Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Voting topic for LDD Only UPDATE: VOTING NOW ENDED. I will get back with results shortly. This is the voting topic for the LDD Only class. Dont forget to vote also in the LDD + Real bricks class Rules for voting Each member who registered on Eurobricks before June 3rd, 2010 can vote. Members who joined after that date are ineligible to vote. Contestants may not vote for themselves, but are welcome to vote for other entries if they want. The voting will end on the 12th of August at 21:00 CET. How to vote Have a look at the entries and decide which ones you like the best. You now have a total of 3 points to distribute freely among the entries. For example, Entry A gets 2 points and Entry B gets 1 point. Have a Look at the first post below to see example of how to cast your vote. Note: In this contest, all themes battle against each other. Your job is to award points to the BEST of them all, regardles of theme. Assessing the entries - A world first NOTE: Since the LXF-files are attached you can download the MOC's and turn them around, investigate building techniques, zoom in etc. This is, to our knowledge, a unique and world first in the history of Lego building contests - to be able to really have an in-depth look at the entries. This means that if you want you can judge not only by looks, but also by building technique. It's your choice. A final word All designs in this contest is the sole property of the creator.

Scouty Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 2 pts. Jan - 131 - Apartment Building 1 pt. Set Sprinter - 150 - White Star Bridge Lovely!
Sandy Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I have to say, most of these entries portray the biggest issue I personally have with LDD creations, and it is that they are lifeless. Even the digital minifigs can't fix that problem completely, since most creations are missing those tiny details that make real brick creations so fascinating, like lighting, shadows, reflections, texture, uneven coloring etc. I'm giving my points to those entries that best get around that issue of mine. 1 point goes to 114 Microscale cyberpunk city by Alopex. Using microscale was a brilliant move, as it made this entry very interesting to look more closely. It also didn't have the problem of filling empty space or big walls. Instead of wanting more life in it, this creation lead me to imagine life into the minuscule city myself (especially the hovering aircraft helped in that). 2 points go to 131 Apartment Building by Jan, which is almost more like an architectural blueprint than an actual building, and that's what is so fascinating about it. The modularity aspect is given a deep thought by the creator, and the different examples are great. Because it is not even supposed to be a finished building, the lifelessness does not bother me. This is a brilliant concept that does not disappoint, merely makes me wish to see made in real bricks and filled with life.
Captain Becker Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Well, this is gonna be hard to vote. There is so MANY awesome entrys and there is some unique peces what i couldnt use. BUT if i have to vote ill vote: Theme: Historic Themes Designer: SolidBrick EntryID: 104 Name: Farm House This gives really the farm fealing to me, and i have only one question: When i can move in? Captain Becker
Professor Flitwick Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Very difficult to chose. I had to put six names into a hat and draw out three. One point goes to mrblue - 110 - Pirate Island Port One point goes to Bojan Pavsiv - 146 - Circus Arena And one last point goes to Alopex - 114 - Microscale cyberpunk city Honourable mentions go to ADHO16, Bricknave and Saracen. Sorry guys!
prateek Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Esso Service Station by SalvoBrick - 1 point Great building techniques with clean lines INCOM T-65 X-WING STARFIGHTER by L-DI-EGO - 1 point Awesome X-Wing. Probably one of the best I've seen. Troop Transport by greenskull139 - 1 point So cool looking!
Bricknave Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 1 Point to: Captain Blockbeard's Golden Gander SteamPunk Airship --Aside from the wondrous airship and landscape below, the dog eating the skeleton's arm is amusing. 1 Point to: Penguinz's Lego Mall --I was in for a shock when I looked at the highly detailed interior of the mall! This model would make a great LEGO City set, because it would go well with the family house and pizzeria. 1 Point to: Catanas's Post Train --This would also make a good LEGO City set, specifically as a limited-edition special offer! I like the detail inside the wagons, along with the mail lorry and even the small train station. Good luck to everyone who participated! Leg Godt - Play Well
Erdbeereis Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Wow, too many nice entries, so few points! 1 point to The Lanterne Rouge and his Haga Defender. Love the curves! 1 point to Jan's Apartment building. It just looks so professional, great work! And finally, 1 point to Bojan Pavsic's Circus Area. Very fun.
Dr Kilroy Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 2 points - Set Sprinter - 150 - White Star Bridge 1 point - Solid Bricks - 104 - Farm House Simple and stunning MOCs! :) Regards, Dr
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 These are great entries! So it was very hard to choose only three. Nevertheless the three which I finally chose are: Carbohydrates Penguinz Bojan Pavsic Good luck! Klaus-Dieter
Jan Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I'm really having big problems choosing, but here I go: 1 point - Captain Blockbeard - 108 - Golden Gander SteamPunk Airship because of the whole atmosphere of the images and creation, and the short story 2 point - Set Sprinter - 150 - White Star Bridge Because I think this is typically a design which you prepare first in the computer before you start building. good luck, Jan
Fires-storm Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Theme: Town Designer: Jan EntryID: 131 Name: Apartment Building I award this entry all 3 points, I love the originality and utter modularity of its design, plus it is very creative indeed. Well done
DLuders Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 1 point for Designer: Bojan Pavsic EntryID: 146 Name: Circus Arena 1 point for Designer: SolidBrick EntryID: 104 Name: Farm House 1 point for Designer: Captain Blockbeard EntryID: 108 Name: Golden Gander SteamPunk Airship .
Fugazi Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) I must agree with Sandy here, I would enjoy looking at LDD images much more if the rendering could be improved to feel more natural. It would probably eat up too much processing power, but it would really add to the experience. It's especially obvious in the LDD+real bricks category, where the real LEGO look so much better than their electronic counterparts. Note that I do think LDD is a great design tool -- it's just not a very artistic one! Nevertheless, here are my favourite entries (1 point each): Designer: Saracen EntryID: 144 Name: Irish Troubles Designer: Bojan Pavsic EntryID: 146 Name: Circus Arena Designer: sunnyx EntryID: 149 Name: BattleCruiser from StarCraft II Good luck to all! Edited July 22, 2010 by Fugazi
CorneliusMurdock Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 My three votes 1 for SolidBrick - Farmhouse Just a great historical house 1 for Lego Jango - Spaceship a spacious and lovely ship 1 for Bojan Pavsic - Circus Arena Very fun
Randal Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Speaking as someone who spends every day working to enhance LDD images to make them look great, I would invite the LDD haters to check out the link in my sig. (though some days turn out better than others) I keep on planning to make a thread showing how to bring out LDD image potential, but my computer time in the last month or so has been limited, which is why I wasn't able to finish my entry in time. With that out of the way, I like a lot of the pieces here, they are fun and imaginative, but the ones that made me smile the most were: Designer: The Lanterne Rouge EntryID: 119 Name: HAGA DEFENDER (Some of the design elements here made me drool, specifically the canopy and the overall shape.) 2 points Designer: Captain Blockbeard EntryID: 108 Name: Golden Gander SteamPunk Airship (I'm a sucker for good steampunk. The part I loved most about this is that it was a complete diorama and not just an airship.) 1 point Designer: Bojan Pavsic EntryID: 146 Name: Circus Arena (This just plain made me smile. It's fun and bright and there's a bit of a story going on.) Honorable Mention Personally, I'd love to use these 3 entries in future Brick comics, if the designers approve. Each would be given a Link to the designers work.
LuxorV Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 First of all, I'd like to say all the entries show great creativity and I wish I had more points to give.
