The Yellow Brick Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Okay so we recently have been introduced to power function trains and they are great but in the last train sets (7897 and 7898) we had the Horn which was awesome but in the 2010 trains we didn't get the horn or any sound except a annoying Buzzing sound So this is my idea on how to bring back the horn but in power function. it will be about the same size of the sound brick but it will feature a wire which connects to the IR receiver.so there will be no need to have some system to set the sound of (just like the grand carousel). but this will mean adding a extra button to the remote. hope you like my idea guys and id love to here some feedback Edited September 26, 2010 by The Red Brick Quote
andythenorth Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 It's a nice idea. It would be nice to have sound. A sound brick seems obvious...but it does waste a channel. And activating it would make more sense with the push-stick PF remote (up for horn, down for whistle), but that means an extra remote alongside the train PF remote. How about an addon to the remote itself - just a simple sound module with buttons for horn, whistle etc? Quote
private_lego Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Nice and easy idea. Belug members are developing a simular (non lego) system, for steam train sounds. The sound changes with the speed. This should also be possible in a brick format. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Yes but it would be better if you actually heard the sound coming from the train itself. Edited August 20, 2010 by The Red Brick Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 How about one built into the powerfunctions train motor? It could be a small switch on the bottom of the motor; you build bricks up on a track (two plates high) in order to hit the switch before it hits a crossing. that would add the train doing a horn... by itself! roamingstop Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Many steam engine sets for garden railways contain an extra car which adds battery powered sound effects; the intensity of sound related to the speed the car is drawn at. Railside signals could be used to add 'whistle'. However it does not add 'whistle' to the child / adult / remote control unit. FOr children especially, the ability to whistle on command is probably more appealing than a trackside device. Quote
