Peppermint_M Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 So I went to The Works on the weekend. There at the shop was a very large stack of Click Brick sets of many kinds. I decided to go for the tractor as it had a figure. The Box. Front and Back. A price sticker for £1.99, a picture of the set and a "Works with other brands". As you can see from the back, this "Agri" series is made up of other sets that combine with the tractor. A great concept and after minimal spend of about £8 you have a well stocked machine barn. I will review the other sets at a later date. Contents: Instruction sheet. Bag of parts, Bag of Figure and Glossy Catalogue. I can provide a scan of the instruction on request. If you ask today/tonight then I can get it done tomorrow in work. The catalogue revealed a few more sets to buy, FIA's meccano like product line and thier 3D foamboard puzzles sets. A closer look at the bag of figure and the "odd" parts. As you can see, the figure is disassembled entirely. Which must save money on the equipment needed to clip tiny people parts to each other. The parts that are "odd" hardly differ: The lamp brick has a tiny line above the lip, the 2x2 round plate has a circular hole instead of a cross, which is to be clipped to the peg plate, which is a plate thickness instead of a brick thickness. The axle doesn't have an extra 1x2 plates-depth underneath. The only part not seen in todays Lego is the peg plate. The bricks are amazing, wonderfull, glossy and bright. Their colour is a near, if not perfect, match to TLG bricks. They have great grip and feel just like Lego does. The Built Set A great design that would be at home on any Town fan's farm. The other complimentary sets clip onto this tractor to add to playability and therefore fun. Figures Well, apart from the face print, this guy fits right into any Lego Town, his orange helmet is a match to TLG's and is a near colour match to the offical shades. As for Quality: Take a look at the image below. Which is TLG and which is Clone? Hope you enjoyed this review. The set is 100% replicable in Lego, I can scan and post the instruction sheet if you'd like. I love this, it is as good as Lego from bricks to figure and I shall certainly be watching their output with interest. I also bought one for my little brother, he was so pleased that he went to town the next day and came back with two sets. Quote
vexorian Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) I just love the design even though tractors are not my thing. The one in the left is LEGO because the logo in the stud is visible :) Edited August 3, 2010 by vexorian Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Wow, my camera is better than I thought it was! It is an amazing match though isn't it? Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hey this is the set I posted an image of a few days ago in posting titled 'Brick Click' - thanks for the review 'Peppermint_M' - your right this is a well produced set and the quality I feel looks better than even MB (Mega Blocks.....MEH !). Yes please for the scans of instructions, wouldn't mind knocking one of these up with it's attachments in real Lego. Keep going on these reviews 'Peppermint_M' - Queen Of The Clone Brands ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Very, very, very nice. I really like this set. The quality is amazing, and so is the price. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 The photo's document the only real differences. I poured out the bag and was just amazed, it was like opening up a Lego set(and boy am I familiar with the feel of rummaging in new Lego bricks, MMV was my most recent build proir to this set!) I'll get the scans done tomorrow then LT, I may need to .JPEG them unless I can find a PDF host/ e-mail them. Quote
Thrund Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I poured out the bag and was just amazed, it was like opening up a Lego set Now you know how I felt, especially as I was expecting to be confronted with a Best-Lock equivalent. The tile-with-pin and plate-with-circular-hole are Oxford elements, by the way, although Lego used to do a similar pin as a propeller mounting. Quote
crossmr Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I really dig this tractor Peppermint. If I was building a city now I'd be getting you to send me one of these. I don't think I can get Click Brick here in Korea. Quote
NewRight Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 The sad part is this is one of the nicest molded clone brands I have seen. I has the cleanest parts. What is the quality of the plastic? (Not the molding, but the type of plastic used) Does it have the same durability as a regular LEGO element? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 It might as well be Lego. Such is the quality of the plastic. As I mentioned before the only difference is the "STAR" printed on the studs. Quote
Rick Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Actually the other seat is better than LEGO's because it doesn't have the center mark that TLG recently introduced. I have never seen a clone brand on here that seems to deliver such great quality at such an amazing price. The fig (mainly due to the head print) is a little creepy, but the quality of the bricks seems on par with LEGO quality. Although it is much better than other clone brand's design, I don't really like the design of the tractor sets. The color scheme isn't varied enough, all boring blue and gray. 'Problem' with these clone brands is that I could never get myself to incorporate the bricks in my collection. However, I hope this potentially 'real' competition puts some pressure on LEGO prices (wishful thinking I guess). Quote

However, I hope this potentially 'real' competition puts some pressure on LEGO prices (wishful thinking I guess). The quality is quite visible. And although it probably isn't as good as LEGO in the 80s-90s, I am actually wondering if its quality is not as 'good' or better than the 2008+ LEGO. I mean, I keep seeing some mold marks in some pieces, specially my newest set: the snow trooper battle pack has some marks that I was not used to see, (it is not a big issue but I am just saying current LEGO quality is not as hard to beat as it was in the 90s). As this Click Brick quality is rather new (old click brick sets were actual Chinese imports) I doubt we'll be seeing much of them outside the UK this year. I hope they grow and keep up with their quality until they can get into the international market. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 A PDF of the double sided instruction sheet is hosted here. If in future it isn't there, PM me and I can sort it out. Quote
dr_spock Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Thanks Peppermint_M. Here's the Lego clone. :) Quote
Thrund Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Here's the Lego clone. :) Nice job, given you were missing a couple of the exact parts. I believe you need to add a 2x2 round plate on top of that turntable to make it compatible with the accessories (that turntable was exactly what I would have used to reproduce it in Lego, so I gave this some thought). Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Good one 'dr_spock' great copy in the genuine stuff ! I hope to make my copy today - mine might be in red - post a.s.a.p. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Rick Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Here's the Lego clone. :) Wrong forum dr_spock, this should go in the Town forum Nice effort in reproducing it in LEGO. But... what are those giant pink things? Quote
dr_spock Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks guys. I'm thinking giant pink dragon fruits from genetic cloning process. Nice job, given you were missing a couple of the exact parts. I believe you need to add a 2x2 round plate on top of that turntable to make it compatible with the accessories (that turntable was exactly what I would have used to reproduce it in Lego, so I gave this some thought). Good eyes. Yes, I'm missing a couple of Lego pieces that match the Click Brick set exactly. Since I'm cloning a clone with Lego, I probably shouldn't make it exactly. Their lawyers may not like that. Thrund Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 And although it probably isn't as good as LEGO in the 80s-90s, I am actually wondering if its quality is not as 'good' or better than the 2008+ LEGO. I think it is better - or at least, I think the clutch is at '90s Lego levels. I've had two Next Generation sets sitting around for a couple of weeks and decided it was time to disassemble them, and found it much harder work than with any recent Lego set. Quote
