Bingo Little Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 This didn't actually start off as anything to do with Medieval Market Village, but halfway through construction (a very on/off affair over eight months) I acquired the set, and it went to something between an MOC and a MOD. I eventually decided that as there's a lot extra in there, it's an MOC - kist a fairly derivative one! Anyway, it went from being a hunting lodge to the village, which seems to have a royal visit and some sort of troop muster going on... One of the things I wanted to do with the minifigures was portray some old factions of soldiers and make them look more updated - and make a few new ones look more 'classic'. It's not just about soldiers though - there are 89 figures in the model (probably, counting gets pretty hard) as well as a few statues and suits of armour, and I've tried to make sure of two things: 1. None of them share faces. (Except beneath full face helmets, or with an added beard, where you can't tell - I was running out of different heads...) 2. None of them are original TLG figures (except for the Jester, because he's really too perfect to change). I figured that since I'd used two full lego buildings, even with a few changes to the interior, I should really not use anything else of theirs, save, you know, bricks. Anyway, enough of the babble! Some pictures (the rest are on my Flickr, which is here) Pity I left the Blacksmith's open... A travelling fair. Not quite pictured: the fire eater, standing behind the guy prancing around in a mask. Robin Hood watches from on high... The gatehouse. Guess which faction owns this castle? The King's chambers. All the buildings or sections of building had either an openable roof or a wall that swung out. My friend who helped with the photographing loved arty angles, and this is one of them. I feel like the gardener would use it for his facebook picture. Possibly my favourite person in the set is the hunter, feeding his dog a bone. There's lots more in the flickr link above. Also, once it's edited together, I should have a video tour available which covers a few things not quite shown by the photos. It's the first MOC I've shared here, so be nice please! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Very nice indeed and very BIG too ! Fantastic job you have done here 'Bingo Little'.....are you going to expand it any more ? Great work and I'm a conformist! 'Bingo Little' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Hm, I'm beginning to notice a trend here. I don't really like using plates for roofs. You could at least tile it. Quote

Great work and I'm a conformist! 'Bingo Little' I'm a conformist! ! It's been eight months: I think I'm going to stop now. I'm running out of people, space on my desk, and ideas - not to mention money! I think in a week or two, I'll demolish it and start on a nativity scene. As for studs on top of rooves, I happen rather to like it as a technique - I don't see why it's much more of a suspension of disbelief to accept the studs there than to accept the studs all along the ground... Vindicare Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Man...after all that time and effort, you're gonna rip it apart? Quote
Bingo Little Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Well, what else can I do? It's been a lovely time building it, but now I have something to remember it by... I'd quite like my desk back, and to be able to start on other projects. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Pretty good MOC Bingo Little, it's just a shame it's gonna go down quite soon. Well, I guess it was great while it lasted. Hope to see more of your creations. Quote
Bingo Little Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 When I was trying to find if I had an old brickshelf account when I uploaded this (though it ended up going on flickr) I found a fairly similar Saxon manor house (much smaller) from three or four years ago that I made - I might upload that as well, though I haven't got very many pictures of it. Admiral Ron Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Thats a great little village! I enjoy how you made each person have a different face, thats hard to do in a village of that size. great work! Quote
Zorbas Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Very nice work that for some reason caught my attention. Well done Bingo Little, your village looks great! What I really like is that there are different sections of the layout that involve different activities and landscapes. All the small details look very nice and I particularly like the photo with the small dock. Good job! P.S Studs all the way. Quote

By the end, it was "hmm, he's in the army, he's been in a few fights." *breaks out eyepatches* "Hmm, he's got a full face mask." *Breaks out that one face I already had two of and seemed to get twenty more of in the battle packs* Dismantling has begun, by the way, sadly. Bingo Little Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 'fraid so. Just the figures and details at the moment, the buildings still stand: but to make it more positive, I've made a start on my next creation already! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Well thats to bad . It is( or was ) an amazing MOC. Quote
prateek Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Very nice, but I agree with ThatGuyWithTheBricks that you should tile the roofs. Edited September 15, 2010 by prateek Quote
Vindicare Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Very nice, but I agree with ThatGuyWithTheBricks that you should tile the roofs. Too late for that suggestion. Unfortunately, he's tearing it apart at the moment. Those roofs probably aren't roofs anymore... Quote
Bingo Little Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Very nice, but I agree with ThatGuyWithTheBricks that you should tile the roofs. As has already been pointed out, it's rather too late for that - though the buildings themselves still stand (with halves of guards and so on sprawled all over them like there's been a particularly bloodless war). I didn't really have enough tiles to do them anyway, but would a good alternative be using these and these? Admittedly it limits my roof colours, with what I've got, to red or brown, but it's the closest I could get to tiling. Quote
Bingo Little Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Although this is a double post, it's a few weeks apart and no one would notice if I just edited it in, so: the guy who photographed this for me finished cutting together a video of it (shows a few things the pictures don't quite capture) and has uploaded it to youtube: Enjoy! Also, it's now pretty much entirely gone - all that's left is a mess Edited September 23, 2010 by Bingo Little Quote
