optimus-convoy Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I just recently found this pack of rumors from a Nintendo fansite, 4 color rebellion Word is that the DS lite will launch in Europe June 9th or 16th, with the Revolution getting released in Japan in June/July and the rest of the world in September/October. The Revolution will launch in white only, with black and other colors following soon after. The sensor bar that goes under the TV will match the color of your Revolution. And games on the Revolution Quote
Cutty Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 cum grano salis? Now THAT'S an understatement! This reeks so foul of fan-wishing I cannot even chuckle about it. Especially that Kid Icarus part is weird, seeing how the franchise, and I go as far as calling it that even though it only spawned two(!) games, is even more dead than disco! If it happens though, and hell do I wish for it to, I'll shave my head and get a mugshot of Shigeru Miyamoto tattooed on my headskin ^^ Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 25-30$ for Virtual Console games? What a ripoff! Glad I picked up a SNES recently (10-15 Euro a cart). The games...loads of stuff I don't believe. I don't believe the Kid Icarus stuff and I'm not too sure abou Nights into Dreams either (is that a remake? or a new game? A remake might be possible...). Starfox? Soul Calibur 4? Sure, we'll see new games in those series. and why not for the Revo? Other then that, a new SSBM is nice...but I don't care what they call it, as long as it's good. Pikmin 3...hm, I doubt it. I don't think Pikmin 2 sold very well (I have 1 but I'm not a big fan of it). Ubisoft, Capcom & Midway...good to hear they support the Revo. Especially Ubisoft is a good one to have on your side with games like Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell. Capcom is great too. I do wish Namco would release more then Soul Calibur though (A new "Tales" game...please, Namco...). And Zelda & The Revolution, that's a neverending story. I don't cary anyway, I have a Cube and I'll get a Revo, so I can play it both ways anyway. But I'm still pissed on the 25-30$ pricetag on the Virtual Console games :-/ Quote
SuvieD Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Word is that the DS lite will launch in Europe June 9th or 16th, with the Revolution getting released in Japan in June/July and the rest of the world in September/October. The Revolution will launch in white only, with black and other colors following soon after. The sensor bar that goes under the TV will match the color of your Revolution. And games on the Revolution's Virtual Console should sell for 25$-30$. Won't happen. Rev will launch at best in Sep. in Japan but I think Oct./very early Nov. is much more likely, with each area (US, EU, Jap) getting them a week or two apart. White will probably be the color. That is too much money for an 8-bit game. I hope they have some sort of discounted or tier price system. Completing a decent retro games selection would cost upwards of $1000's. I am hoping for $5-15 max. I can still get 64 games in second hand stores for under $5. I most likely won't pay more than $15. I don't see how it would be affordable. Rumours surrounding Namco state that the original Soul Blade game for PSX will be remade for the DS and all the next gen consoles will have Soul Calibur 4 released on them. Tomb Raider will be released on the Revolution. And the DS and Cube version of Tomb Raider Legend will have some "extras" that aren't in the other console versions. Doesn't excite me. Don't really like those games so, eh. Nights into Dreams is already 65% complete and his being directed by Yuji Naka. It will use the Revolution controller only, no attachments. This may actually happen, though I doubt it will be available at launch. I am curious about this game as I never played it. A new version might be sweet. Retro Studio is giving Kid Icarus a complete makeover for its Revolution debut. The name of the game is Icarus. Good choice for the studio. These guys make the Metroid Prime games. I guess since they took metroid from the 2d side scrolling era and made it into a good 3d adventure game, Nintendo is hoping for the same with Icarus. I think this gen of games will be the rebirth of any noteworthy IPs Nintendo ever made. I am expecting to see Punch Out and Duck Hunt come back as well. I doubt this will be for launch. A new Star Fox game is in development. It will rely solely on the Revolution controller for control. I hope so. Star Fox needs to have a really great game made. There is a horse racing game in development aimed at the Japanese market. I heard it was a Mario horse racing game. It could happen. Not sure I would want it though. Fight Night is in development by EA and will use 2 controllers. A Burnout game is in development for the Revolution. I doubt it. Two controllers? No way. One controller is more than enough. 35 development kits were sent to Rockstar London/Take Two about a month ago. No info on what game(s) they are planning to do, but it seems unlikely that it's going be a GTA game. (Maybe there new ping pong game?) Interesting, but why 35? Wouldn't 3 or 4 be enough? I don't buy GTA games so if that is what is coming, blah! Ubisoft has 9 games in development, many of which are launch titles. Prince of Persia is being considered for Revolution. I heard there were 2 Ubi games, Red Steel and Rayman (both are confirmed). Nine in development?, doubtfully. Super Smash Bros. for the Revolution will be subtitled "Mayhem". Good name hope it's true. Nintendo and Valve were in talks during in March about bringing an exclusive new version of Counter Strike to the Revolution. I can see it happening. I think it won't until the Revmote proves to be great with FPS. The Revolution controller in Zelda: Twilight Princess will be used in combination with the shell. Its use will be limited, for example, using it in situations where you are in First Person View. However, the rumors also say that there will be an exclusive dungeon that exploits the new features of the controller with a new item. Rumours are rumbling about the graphics of Zelda: Twilight Princess, they say that we will be greatly surprise at E3 when we see new screenshots/gameplay of the game. I don't guess anything about Zelda. I try to read as little about it as possible. I want the mystery there when I play. Pikmin 3 is completely finished. It will use the Revolution controller exclusively. (We all knew Pikmin would come out on the Revolution, I mean the controller is made for this type of game) Very likely, if not finished close. I can see this as a launch title. There will be online launch titles from both Nintendo and 3rd parties. Sega games on the Virtual Console will be available for download on day one. That should not have to be a rumor. It should be common sense on Nintendo's part. Midway is developing three exclusives for the Revolution. Probably true. Almost all games will be exclusive due to the console design. It can't run many games the others can. Not enough bells and whistles on the Rev. Two Rpgs and some new/weird games will be shown at E3. I am sure. Lot of games will be shown. Developers have known the new name of the console since January. Probably, but I would have expected a leak of it by now. I have seen some guesses and right now it seems like G O, Blue Wave, and RS are the prime choices. I don't care what they call it. I will get on even if they call it the Nintendo Happy Happy Bunny Garden Wonder Box. We must keep our eyes on Zoonami. (I've heard the name of the company lots of time, but I've never seen a game released by them). Never heard of them. I will keep an eye open. Capcom will show 2 titles for Revolution at E3. Can anyone say Mega man? Red Steel will not be the only game revealed prior to E3, although Nintendo will not show anything till then I have heard about quite a few games. Though not all that many names. With under two weeks left before E3 if this is true we will see something within a week I would say. Please note these should be taken with a grain of salt, but if any of this is true... *sweet* Note taken. Some are obvious and will happen. Others seem too much like wishful thinking. I will wait until E3 and not get my hopes up too high. The real rumor I want answered is the possibility of stereoscopic 3d and what that would involve. Thanks Optimus for the rumors! Quote

SuvieD Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Asking a stupid Q: I stick pretty much to the 64.. . what is the revolution? Thanks and God Bless, Nathan Codename for the new Nintendo system that will come out later this year. Check Here for info about it. Once E3 happens there will be more definite info about the system. There is a lot to it. New controller, new way to play games, improved graphic (not as much as PS3 or Xbox360), can download and play games from the 8 bit era until now including Nintendo, Sega and Turbographix and more. It looks very promising and is supposed to be affordable. Quote

JoeMI6 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I couldn't be bothered to read through all those rumours ;-) , so this might have been mentioned, but anyways. Metroid Prime 3 and a sequel to Super Smash Bros Melee have been confirmed as in development for the Revolution. And i also heard on the grape vine that it will have internet access from day one, and free downloadable games from Nintendo's and Sega's back catalogues. Quote

I'm pretty damn sure about those free downloadable games Lost Viking, it's one of the things that Nintendo has been offering on the machine. One of the first bits of info i heard about it. Also, there have been some nasty rumours flying about that Resident Evil 5 won't be released on the Revolution. Quote

JoeMI6 Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 The name of nintendo's new home console is.... Wii Here's the link all about it : Wii-The new revolution Quote
Andrex Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 I know, I saw that article earlier today, and to be honest I can't stand the name, I mean wtf 'Mum, I need a Wii' argh how... odd. It looks kewl I suppose, yet sounds odd. I prefer the term Revolution BIG TIME, I reckon they should have stuck with that. Quote

I agree, but I am still going to get it... heck even if it was called "If You Buy This, Your Gay" I would still get it! Yes, that's my feeling exactly Lost Viking. A name changes nothing about how awesome a console it will be. Also, it does have a fair bit of meaning to it, rather than the Xbox 360, which (if you haven't noticed) isn't spherical and the PS3, which is just the next number. Wii is pretty original. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 What a terrible name. I just plain hate it. Revolution sounds a million times better. Heck, just about anything does. But still, the name doesn't matter. The system does. I'll get it anyway...but I do hope we won't be ending up with games like "Super Mario Wii" or similar games... And in the end, at least it's original. A lot more original then just sticking 3 or 360 at the end of the console name... Quote
SuvieD Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I think it is a very good name. It is easy to use, easy to remember and easy to market. I mean think about it. A commercial starts Guy; hey ladies I have to get going. :-) Lady1; oh! why? Can't you stay a little longer? :-( Lady2; yes, stay a little longer. 8-| Guy; sorry ladies I am going to fire up the Nintendo and play some Marioparty. :-/ Lady3; Not fair, I don't have a Wii. :'-( Lady2; can we come over and play with your Wii? *sweet* Lady1; I haven't played with one for a while now and I would like to get my hands on one. X-D Guy; Okay, Okay you ladies can come over and play with my Wii. :-D ;-) Imagine Nintendo using the Queen song "We will rock you" and changing all the We's to Wii and having some awesome game footage to go along with it. I have read a lot about all the reactions and seen many of the jokes and pictures for it and I still think it is great. Everyone is talking about it so whether you hate it or love it, people are going to hear about it. I think it is a good name. Very original, very funny. Quote

X-D Guy; Okay, Okay you ladies can come over and play with my Wii. :-D ;-) And that's why it's not a good name :-P . Anyway, try pronouncing "Wii". Besides the obvious english meaning of that, it also means "who" in Dutch, "how" in German, and " yes" in French. I'm sure there are others as well. It sounds good, certainly, but Revolution sounds so much better...and doesn't lead to confusion because of the rather...ambigous...meaning of the pronunciation... Quote
Andrex Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I am still buying it of course. It is my fave console out of the new three! I'd get one no matter what it was called tehe. The only thing I do not like is the name, the rest I LOVE! Oh and one more thing, oh dear, another reason for the PS3 fanboys to make fun of it lol, 'Mummy, I really need a Wii!'. Ah well, at least it's original :D but they still should have stuck with Revolution, I am still calling it that, Wii just doesn't sound right at all to me. Quote
Cutty Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I have mentioned before I wouldn't get a Revolution...but a Wii? That might change my mind. It's a fair name, at least better than the uninspired "X" in "XBOX" whereas the "BOX" in "XBOX" reminds me more of cheap cartonage/cardboard than high level gaming experience. And SuvieD: Your dialog is great! Just remember: Playing with your Wii is GOOD! Quote
optimus-convoy Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 Hmm, Wii... Not sure if I like it as much as "Revolution", but It's definately original. :-) Quote

Black Sparrow Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 The New Nintendo system is going to be very cool. But they had to turn the name into the Wii. Wii Is a weird and a discracful name. 8- Quote
