tin7_creations Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Hi fellow customizers! This is my entry to the Let's Go Cosplay Contest! Theme: Marvel Superheroes Character: Thor Cost: It's $5 CAD for a block of Sculpey. I used 1/5 of a block to create my custom pieces which is about $1 CAD. Plus a dark green cape from MMCB which (according to Bricklink) amounts to $1.53 CAD. So altogether, my fig costs around $3 CAD. Additional Images: Randall goes to Comic Con! Alright, here we go! Everyone, meet Randall. He works part-time at a comic book store, and part-time as a Starbucks Barista! Randall is going somewhere special today, and he must dress up accordingly. Who should he dress as? "OH! I know who to go as! I've got the perfect costume to celebrate this exciting occasion!" Wanna know where Randall is going today? It's like the Mecca for comic book fans all around the world! But what booth is this? O-M-G!!!! (Geeky squeal!!) It's the Marvel booth for the upcoming Avengers movie!!!! Randall has the perfect costume!!...? But wait... Let's examine his costume more closely. The helmet and armour looks exactly like the movie, although they can probably be found at any costume store. The cape however... any self-respecting Marvel fan knows that Thor has a red cape! Why is he carrying a gun? Where's Thor's hammer Mjolnir? Here's what the entire vignette looks like: Half of it is Randall's bathroom, the other half is the Comic Con booth. The non-LEGO items in the vignette: - Captain America's shield is a painted BrickForge Round Shield. - Iron Man's helmet is from Christo on eBay (I have showcased this one before; but since it's not part of the actual entry, I think it should be okay!) - Thor's hammer Mjolnir is my own Sculpey creation. Hope everyone enjoyed entry! Comments and feedback appreciated! ~tin7 Edited October 2, 2010 by tin7 Quote

The Penguin Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) A very fine teaser, tin7! ) Looking forward to your entry, I'm sure it'll be something spectacular, really. Doesn't Randall have a body too well-buil for someone working in a comic store and Starbucks? ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Edited September 22, 2010 by The Penguin Quote
LuxorV Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Very interesting introduction, tin7! It's always nice to see your great customs, and using them as eye-candies into this little story makes them even more appealing I'll be waiting to see how this entry evolves. Quote
Rayman Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 First one out of the blocks Tin7! I can't wait to see how this story turns out. Quote
tin7_creations Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Alright! Final entry updated! Quote
The Penguin Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Being a DC fan, I do not know the character Randall is portraying, but he sure looks good! Very well done, my dear Watson colleague! ) Did you sculpture the helmet, or used an orcish one? Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Edited October 3, 2010 by The Penguin Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Looks great tin7! I think you pretty much captured the amateurish cosplayer image perfectly with the wrong colored cape and mismatched weapon. Maybe Randall's portraying the Thor version year 2900? Very nice concept on the double-sided vignette, as well as the finely-printed details (imaged mirror, door hallway, ComicCon and Avenger posters). Best of luck in the contest! Quote
