Jipay Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Legoamon's Tomb Legoamon has been a popular sovereign. He gifted his folk with many new inventions and building techniques. But his time was coming, and a massive tomb has been built so people never forget what he has done for Egypt. At the dawn of his life, he comes to the tomb to see if the decoration pleases his taste. The evening sun was irradiating the Nil, melting water and fire into a dancing ballet. Legoamon looked back at the Tomb, hoping he could live until it was achieved. The Pharao looking at the river The whole Wip from above The sarcophagus, which will contain the Pharao's Mummy The whole entrance to the Tomb Walls decorations Bird view of the whole WIP Decorations of the back portal Furnitures I must confess that I could have just typed 'This is a WIP, I need more material from Legoland Pick a Brick', but it just wouldn't have been the same This MOC will by far be my biggest one once it will be complete, as what you see here 'only' is the entrance portal to the tomb. Siegfried Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Long time no MOC! You've put a lot of work into this. I especially like the rocky facing wall. I can't wait to see the rest! (A piece of advice for Legoamon; it may look nice but having a tomb on the edge of the Nile is hardly smart.) Quote

(A piece of advice for Legoamon; it may look nice but having a tomb on the edge of the Nile is hardly smart.) Glad you like the rocks. The whole MOC started by the rocks, the rest following afterward. I know that puting the entrance near the border of the river isn't the smartest idea, but sometimes practicality has to be sacrificed over aestetic Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I am very much liking this WIP Jipay. As Sieggy mentioned the outside rock walls are superb! Loving the statues and the 45 degree angled tiles look great on the walls. Surely you don't get light blue 1x1 tiles from PAB? Looking forward to the rest of this project. Quote
Duke Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 This is very nice, a fine backdrop for the pharaoh minifig. Are you planning a removable roof as part of the project or leaving it open? Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 This is fantastic. I love the Anubis. I expect this to become even greater with the pharaohs quest theme in 2011 Quote
Jipay Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 This is very nice, a fine backdrop for the pharaoh minifig. Are you planning a removable roof as part of the project or leaving it open? The tomb will feature a roof, but for now I didn't have enough pieces, so I need to do some serious shopping in some weeks. . I expect this to become even greater with the pharaohs quest theme in 2011 I'm expecting a lot from that theme aswell ! Loving the statues and the 45 degree angled tiles look great on the walls. Surely you don't get light blue 1x1 tiles from PAB? Actually, there are no 45 degree tiles. That's the complete wall which is 45 degree with standard 1X1 grey tiles. The 1X1 light blue tiles are from Günzburg pick a brick Thanks for the nice comments Quote
Shadows Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I'm seeing a number of interesting bits to steal for future projects and the 1x1 tiled floor puts all those 2x2 tiled floors out there to shame, it's simply . Definitely keep updating us, I know there will be a lot more for me to steal admire as this goes on. The 1X1 light blue tiles are from Günzburg pick a brick Why don't we ever have 1x1 tiles in our PaB here? Quote
Siegfried Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I know that puting the entrance near the border of the river isn't the smartest idea, but sometimes practicality has to be sacrificed over aestetic Yeah, I know. Why don't we ever have 1x1 tiles in our PaB here? Oh boo hoo hoo. We haven't even got a PaB. In the whole bloody continent. Quote
badboytje88 Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I really like where this is going. Loads of details. I envy your amount of bricks and your eye for detail. The furniture is lovely. Is the woman in the tomb dead? ~Bart Quote
Captain Becker Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Now i want to see more of this. This really is an impressive project and what i can say now is:Holy Mother in Heaven, its so beatifull Keep us updated mate, cant wait for more pics Captain Becker Quote
Shadows Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Oh boo hoo hoo. We haven't even got a PaB. In the whole bloody continent. Blah blah blah, our sets are disproportionately cheaper, too. (though they're starting to make up for that price difference) You want some 1x1 tiles if I ever run across them at PaB? (I almost never get there, so no promises...) Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I remember talking about this in Gunzburg, but this was exceeds expectation. It looks really great and it is good to see you have time to actually build! Good luck on this one buddy! Quote
Baylego Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 This is looking great so far! It is very nicely detailed and has a very egyptian feel to it. Also, can somebody please tell me where that girl's face is from? I have never seen it before, and it looks very useful. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 AWESOME W.I.P. there 'Jipay' - so colourful and with such detail I can not wait to see the end result. Keep going and really I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Rufus Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Impressive MOC, Jipay. It must have been hard work placing all those floor tiles. This looks like it could be the bottom floor of a 'modular tomb' - perhaps this could be a new line for TLC exclusives? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 26, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 26, 2010 I love it! The outside wall is so sober with few colors and man-made decorations, but once you go through the door there's a fantastic world of colors and decorations all over. This reminds me of those Egyptian tombs I've visited a few years ago in the Valley of the Kings. I keep looking at this with the new parts that'll come with Egypt Quest in my mind, thinking how they could fit in with the interior. Especially those new colorful wings would fit in nice. It would be awesome if LEGO were to make an exclusive Egyptian set that looks like this tomb! With the upcoming Egypt Quest theme the timing might be just about right. Maybe someone should whisper that in their ears. Looking forward to see more WIP picture of this project. Quote
Jipay Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 Thanks for all the nice comments guys, those are highly appreciated ! I'll keep you posted as the project grows I keep looking at this with the new parts that'll come with Egypt Quest in my mind, thinking how they could fit in with the interior. Especially those new colorful wings would fit in nice. I'll definitly use those wings somewhere. I already have some ideas, but I'll have to experiment first Quote
Fugazi Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Amazing WIP Jipay! Ever since the day I set my eyes on the Pharaoh collectible minifig I have been dreaming of such a MOC. I can't wait to see where this is going! As mentioned by others, I love the contrast between the rough and earthy exteriors and the ornate and colourful interiors. The river shore is also beautifully done. Looking forward to the updates! Quote
Cara Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 Love the contrast of inside to out. Jealous of all those 1x1 tiles. I the crabs in the furniture. My suggestion would be put the anubis up on a plinth so he is more proportionally filling the archway compared to the sarcophagus. Quote
iamded Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Awesome MOC so far, Jipay! So colourful, really makes everything stand out. Awesome decorations, and as has been said countless times already, the rock work is fantastic. This will be magnificent when completed! ~Peace Quote
