Archer and Blaster share a past shrouded in mystery but somehow connected. They each sport energy harnessing rods on their backs, a host of common parts, and the same ruthless personalities. Some say they are brothers, if a bot can have such a thing. Archer is armed with an explosive arrow firing bow and powerful sword. If you get in Archers way, he is guaranteed to get medieval on your …

Archer gets new hands...

The most skilled and advanced member of Alpha team is no match for Archer. Archer requires a proper set of black hands and unfortunately for Jim Stringer, he is the only Hero Factory team member matching the description.

Here's Archer with his new hands. It took me awhile to figure out how to make the hand connection. I'm sure it's been done before but I used the rubber technic axle connector to join the two ball joints. I also used the Hero Factory lid as a shield to protect Archer against Stringer's Sonic Blaster.

Stiffest competition in this contest yet, bro. Love how you tried to get the ongoing harnessing rod theme.

I love these. I love Archer's torso, his bow, his colourscheme, his posing, and so much more. My biggest gripe with him, however, are the limbs. They're short and disproportionate to the rest of the MOC, and some of the techniques (joint-hands?) do not look good.

The hot rod is very cool, but I can't help but notice that the entire core of it is system. I'm usually a big supporter of system usage on Bionicle/Technic parts, but putting some Bionicle over a mostly system structure really makes it feel like another system theme instead of Hero Factory. You're going to lose votes for this, unfortunately.

Disregarding contest fitting, I really dig the shapes on the hot rod. The only part I don't like at all is that tiny windshield. Heck, this thing doesn't even need a windshield. I'm curious though, how much modification to Archer did you have to do to get him to fit the vehicle?

Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks for the kind words. I built Blaster first and didn't have much time left when I got around to Archer. He's still very much a work in progress. I plan use black standard bionicle hands (nothing fancy) and new hero factory feet from the Jim Stringer hero set. I agree that the limbs need to grow a bit but I was a bit constrained by a lack of parts. Also planned are a quiver flung over his shoulder to carry additional arrows and a feather type thing off the side of his head. I'll post updated photos when I get around to finishing the mods. I'm very happy with the torso, neck and head and these will most likely remain unchanged.

I had never originally planned to create a vehicle. When the contest deadline was extended I decided to help try to fill out the rather sparse vehicle category. I wanted to build a Hot Rod to stay with energy rod theme. I'm happy you picked up on the connection as I thought it might have been too subtle. When I raided the kids lego bins for black and orange parts I was left with very little bionicle and a stack of parts that I'm guessing originated from Mars Mission and Power Miner sets. I think I could have made something more fitting to hero factory in silver but I decided to stay with the black/orange color scheme. And yes, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that Archer needs to remove his big feet to fit into the car. All that said, I think Archer looks pretty cool in his ride and I'm happy with the quick build. Thanks again for the encouragement.
