Cad Bane Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Hey all! I was just fiddling around with my loose Lego's and came up with this. It's loosely based on the Lego set 'Cad Bane's Speeder' and the EasyRide airspeeder which is where I got the inspiration for the overall shape/design. The color and size are the biggest differences. The pictures don't quite do it justice though. Also with a limited assortment of parts (I don't like to destroy my sets for parts usually) it turned out pretty well. I would love to hear feedback and thoughts for improvements are much appreciated. In particular, I was wondering if it actually looks better for the back to be the front. That would mean swapping engines with headlights and moving the pilot to the other side which is quite simple actually. Overall View: Front View: Back View: Right Side: Left Side: Comparison to the real thing. and this: Thanks for your feedback! All pictures are on my Brickshelf when public. Edit: I have just finished revising it so it's closer to the easyride. This way the red works a bit better, though if I can tweak it enough and it comes out amazing (not likely) I may get it in a different color through LDD. If it's just okay then I wont bother and just live with it. Pictures will be here soon. Still a WIP though and open for suggestions/improvements. Edited December 23, 2010 by Cad Bane Quote
CommanderFox Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) Its alright, though I think it could use alittle less red. Your've got the shape though, just get the coloring down and maybe some more details and it will be alot better! About making the front the back, and the back the front, I reckon your right, the back would make a better front as it is more aerodynamic. CF Edited December 21, 2010 by CommanderFox Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Pretty good, Cad Bane, but I really don't think it looks good in red. I understand the lack of parts, but I really think the only way to truly get the right shale with the slopes you're using is to make it bigger. Otherwise, consider using different pieces. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 This is nice mini-version of Cad Bane's speeder, it's already good as it is, and if your initial intention was just to build something out of your loose parts, then you did pretty well. But if you intend to improve this, you will definitely be needing more parts to make it look sleeker and to put some additional details. Quote
RoryoCox Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 With your lack of pieces it is understandable that you cannot make it how you would like to. I think like others said the red does it no good. It does however make a good model of speeder. You have got the shape right and for a lack of pieces, I would be proud. Just a few more details are needed. Thanks for sharing this Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not bad 'Cad Bane', not bad at all, though I too feel a little too much red. Still it's a good smaller model of what's-his-name's speeder ! May the brick be with you ! Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Not bad at all! Nice work on the overall shape. I think it could be a bit longer. Other then that and the color it's mighty nice! Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Hooray for spare parts MOCs, especially when they turn out nice like this one... The sides of the speeder seem a bit too flat. "Cad Bane's speeder" is actually just a Coruscant taxi (deformed to fit the style of the cartoon) which has rounded edges extending all the way around the vehicle. At this scale, I think that a couple of these would help capture the shape at the sides. From what I can see in the screenshot, the speeder should have a lump in the middle above the centre headlight. Perhaps this could be achieved by making the sloped bricks in the center a plate or two higher than the surrounding bricks. It looks as if you've actually made that region smaller by using a sloped brick which is shorter than the ones surrounding it. Where are the three headlights in the front? The boosters should sit much higher on the ship, on level with the saucerlike region on top. I don't mind the red too much... reminds me of one of my old MOCs which was also built from spare parts. Cad Bane Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 Thanks guys! Yeah, I agree that it's suffering from red overload, but I had the most parts in red for whatever reason. I may try to find a few other colors and try to modify the look. The hardest part for me was the base. I'm going to try to insert the bump-like things but I may end up reverting back to the roof slopes if it fails to achieve what I'm after. I'll post the updated version soon. Thanks again. -Cad Bane Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Great MOC! About too much red...well at least you found a consistent colour right? Well done. Quote
prateek Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 The shape is excellent! I like the side view the most. With a few tweaks, this will be really good Quote
