Admiral Ron Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Good day everyone! Here is my entry for the Winter Break Contest. I know the pictures are really crappy, but I will fix them as soon as I am able. Please tell me how I can make it better! Here is the whole thing. Another angle. Lucius does not look happy, but you can see the magical paper airplane notes. This is under the Dark Lord's reign, so here is the Magic is Might statue, with Muggles in their rightful place. Ah! A Ministry official has just arrived! Could that be the Department of Mysteries? Just dont run into the Ministry Police! Hope you enjoyed it! EDIT: Just took some new pictures! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Very nice entry Ron, simple yet very effective build for this gathering scene of the Ministry of Magic. Good job too on customizing the wizards and the clever flying paper airplane effect. Best of luck in the contest! Quote
Geertos13 Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) This is a NICE creation I like the idea, making a vignette instead of a real building is quite unexpected but an original idea ! All the Black, makes it look a little dark though, but it works considering we're during the "dark times "with the Magic is Might Statue. In my opinion,An even more crowded place would have been better. And I think that if you chose another form( a round base plate with the statue in the middle, and everything around it, for instance ) would have created an even more bigger impact and nice dark feeling to it. But you decided to do it this way. It's a nice addition to the Harry Potter MOCs, And good luck in the contest :D Edited December 25, 2010 by Geertos13 Quote
Admiral Ron Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone! I shall try to improve it, but what do you mean by the statue on the round baseplate? Quote
Geertos13 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the comments everyone! I shall try to improve it, but what do you mean by the statue on the round baseplate? weel I was trying to say, that if you changed the general form, ( right now it is one wall )If you could keep that wall, and then make the ground go as a circle. Something like that. You should have the wall, and then in front of it, build a baseplate and make it look like a circle. You would have a half circle. And then have the statue in the middle, against the wall, and have the fireplaces at both sides of the statue. And then in front of it, officers, wizards, the ministry police and so on... Matn Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Nice job! It definitely resembles the Ministry of Magic in the films, which I like very much. The tiling matches the floor very well. It's always so busy there, so the crowd also matches. I like the detail of the flying notes. I especially like the statue, it simplifies the description in the books but it works so well in LEGO! Just a wizard standing on top of a skeleton, great idea. It's indeed very hard to photograph black LEGO bricks, try to do it in a well lighted place. Good luck! Edited December 27, 2010 by Matn Quote
KingDom Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Nice MOC! I really like the fireplace and statue. This has a certain feel of cleanliness and simplicity suited to the setting. Do you have any pictures without the minifigures? Quote
Hinckley Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Sigh... I've edited the title of your topic to reflect the rules: "WINTER BREAK: The Ministry of Magic" Quote
Admiral Ron Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Do you have any pictures without the minifigures? I am afraid I dont, I am no longer at my home, but I can take a pic or two this next weekend. Sigh... I've edited the title of your topic to reflect the rules: "WINTER BREAK: The Ministry of Magic" Sorry , I swear that has never happened before... Quote
buddy Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Great entry! It is accurate and detailed. I particularly like the minifigs used and the technique used for the paper planes. Very well done. ~buddy~ Quote
