Alopex Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 2132... The city of Neo-London... Overpopulation has reached its peak... Rubbish litters the dirty street were a miserable tramp has to live... An agent looks for an enemy of the state... A prostitute stands on the corner, she has to make money for her starving family... Another member of the secret police searches the street for a man who dared to think aloud... A member of the Mind-Mafia gets a man to show him a hidden batch of illegal mind-chips... Meanwhile a killer waits in the shadows... A pair of thugs try to get money out of a bartender... Countless neon advertisements advertise things the people could never afford... A police car waits for its unlucky victims... Hope you like it! (Even though it's not very uplifting ) Quote
indyman09 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Great Moc. I love it! The story is also clever. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 "Countless neon advertisements advertise things the people could never afford..." Not only can't afford, but I'm assuming they can't even read the ads either since they're in Japanese! Great crime story and MOC, nice and cluttered it really looks like the minifigs are miserable. What head is on this figure on the right side of this picture (black suit, white tie), it looks a lot like Ed Harris!: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Alopex/cyberpunk/p1040695.jpg Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Nice MOC! I like how it is very detailed and futuristic Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I simply love this futuristic build! Great backstory, and even better construction of this run-down structure with elements perfectly suited to the description of the period. I like the use of those trans-pieces for the futuristic holo-neon ads, but like what Dr.Nightmare pointed out, did the Japanese invade London in this Neo-world? Excellent job effectively conveying the message of this build Alopex! Quote
user Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Wow this is exactly the feel I was trying to get when I was making my cyberpunk MOCs! Great work this is awesome I love all of the transparent signs and the whole ghetto futuristic idea of the whole thing! Quote
TheWarden Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Wow, I get interesting vibes from this - cyberpunk, future-shock, "Blade Runner-esque," apocalypse future... I could probably sling buzz words all day. There are some neat details, but to the criticisms - the pictures are not that good. If you still have this, try some pics with natural of artificial light. The MOC is better than the pics let us see. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I love the grainy pics, makes it look like an old gritty movie Quote
Alopex Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks for the comments! Neo-London is basically a slum built outside London for the huge amount of immigrants, that's why there are so many foreign advertisements. I planned them to be Chinese (Like in Blade Runner) But I don't have any Chinese stickers... What head is on this figure on the right side of this picture (black suit, white tie), it looks a lot like Ed Harris!: I think it's colonel Dovchenko's head... Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Very distopic I love it! I love the detail in the street rubble and the general layout is perfect for showcasing the set, very well done! Quote
Leo-J Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Ditto TheWarden. The vibe just jumps at you. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 This makes me think of the movie ''Blade Runner'', excellent MOC! Quote
dragunov Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Wow, this is amazing, really getting down to the nitty gritty! Edited December 30, 2010 by dragunov Quote
meyerc13 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I love this creation. William Gibson is one of my favorite authors, Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies (and DADoES is an incredible book), and this MOC reminds me of the worlds created in those works. I actually think the quality of the photos adds to the future noir theme of the work. Quote
Alopex Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) Thanks guys! I'm happy so many of you compared my MOC to Blade Runner, it's one of my favourite film's. Some of the photos are supposed to be dark and grainy, I think it really adds to the atmosphere of the MOC. This was just the introduction, More shall come... Edited December 31, 2010 by Alopex Quote
