eltsyr Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Hey, great lightsaber ! Too bad chrome parts seem to cost an eye :( I'm just coming out of 20 years of Dark Age myself...but now with 5 kids ! 3 of them were covered by Star Wars goodies this christmas, including a few boxes of Lego Star Wars. I quickly rediscovered the addiction of putting together bricks & plates, with the increased possibilities of Star Wars licence and new color tones. It killed by pocket money as well (my wife has recently ordered me to stop buying legos...never marry an engineer :D) Anyway, as I've been lurking this forum for quite a while, I know that 1. No matter what my first MOC looks like you'll have infinite benevolence 2. Because we can never get enough legos and a stale forum is sad 3. Average Joes MOCs have a noble mission : making you appreciate even more competition MOCs with gazillions of bricks & talent ;) So like we say in french...dont acte ! Here's a little picture of a lightsaber I quickly made for the only kid who didn't have a toy torchlightsaber this christmas. I happen to like it better than bland plastic models with blinding LEDs. There are some color issues due to our limited set of bricks. Sorry for the bleh picture quality, my camera is pretty bad and I was in a rush to avoid being seen by my wife (it's painful enough seing your husband become an AFOL :D). I took this one to show the crystal on/off button. And this one to better show (with a little less...aheum...bloom) the proportion. I haven't found how to put 8 black 1x8 plates around the bottom of the handle (instead of 4 with half-pins), if anyone has an idea. Edited January 2, 2011 by eltsyr Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Nice job and welcome to EB, eltsyr! BTW, there's nothing wrong with creating your own topic to post this MOC, seeing as this topic features another member's creation. Quote
eltsyr Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Nice job and welcome to EB, eltsyr! BTW, there's nothing wrong with creating your own topic to post this MOC, seeing as this topic features another member's creation. Thanks for the welcome :-) For posting in the same topic I was not sure. A 5000+ bricks Venator MOC certainly deserves its own topic. I feel that for less ambitious MOCs a generic topic would be a good idea. I hope Courleciel will take no offence, actually he gave me the idea a few days ago ...if needed I can remove my message. Today I actually made a second MOC and although it's not starwars related I did it with the bloody remains of the Slave I & Arc spaceships my kids received from Christmas, plus a hoth skeleton as it reminded me of Captain Harlock spaceships. I posted some more pictures on the Lego SciFi board (I had locked up my wife to avoid looking ridiculous so the pictures quality is slowly improving :D) Quote
Cad Bane Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Wow! Amazing work! I think a detachable blade would be cool, but might be hard to pull off. I definitely agree that some black would enhance the look as well as make the chrome stand out more. Great Job. Display your masterpiece proudly! -Cad Bane Quote

I'd definitely post this last creation in a separate topic; it has no connection to the life size lightsabers of this topic. Quote
KimT Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 There, I've made a topic for you. Nice work. These 1:1 lightsabre MOCs are a nice twist to the usual vehicles and dioramas. Thanks for sharing your work and welcome back to the world of LEGO. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Welcome to the forums eltsyr! As the others have said, any MOC is very much welcome here, especially non-traditional ones like yours. I must say that is a really very well done real life-scaled lightsaber MOC, much like Courleciel's but yours in a non-chrome but equally good version. Impressive work! Quote
