I wanted to use my pig for something so I made him a mud pit but I thought that it was kind of boring so I added the Elf and some trees. I also wanted to experiment with posing the Elf nd work on my tree building skills. The first shot is my favorite.

Looks good! That small tree is exceptionally well done. With the bigger trees, however, there's room for improvement. First off, you need to add twigs. What you used as a substitute for twigs are branches (the prefab element). No tree starts off with thin branches - at the beginning, thick twigs almost the size of the trunk itself grow out of the tree. Try inverted brown slopes! Don't get me wrong, the prefab element you used is great but I would advise to use it at the end of twigs rather than a replacement for them.

About the bending of the tress: I personally don't like it. Could be just me, but I don't have feelings towards such flimsy structures. If I wanted a tree whose trunk isn't completely straight, I would either do the trunk with a brickbuilt slant or just use a hinge at the base. Your solution does look good and is creative, though, I have to give you that. :classic:

The mud is something I also like about your creation, Masked Builder. Looks very authentic. To supply some constructive criticism, the edges are a bit too straight and angular - if you know what I mean.

Another great thing is the elf, of course!

Overall, I find this to be a very nice little vignette, Mr Masked. Your small tree has brought inspiration to my mind.

Cheers!

Well I wasn't really sure if I wanted to do that but I see your point. I think a bunch of twigs would mess with the Elfs shot.

Now the bent tree trunk was something to make the tree different. I'm not disagreeing with you here, but I think it fits just fine.

And could someone please add "[MOC:]" to the title?

Nice work, Masked! Trees are excellent. Great job! :classic:

Well I'm glad someone like my trees.

I'd add the branches as Enpaz said, plus maybe some ground foliage and a base. Your archer pose is nicely done, too.

I'm not sure what you mean by a base. Do you mean something like what you did on your recent Mocs?

Yep. I think any vig should have a base. Even just a simple studs-up border tiled over can be effective, although the quadrilaterals with rounded corners are still my favorites.

Okay I'll try to add that if I have the time.

Oh, the poor pig! :oh3:

Very nice moc, I particularly like the elasticised positioning of the elf's arms. You've got to love the elven longbow!

I do think that a thicker foliage on the trees would improve the look of things, perhaps starting above the head height of the elf if you didn't want to interfere with his line of sight?

Nevertheless, very well done, and very nicely shot as well! :classic:

Thanks! I'll see what I can do as I'm out of leaf elements.
