chongcheng Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Ok, been wanting to do up this for a while. A medieval barn. A very simple design, but still took quite a number of bricks to build it up. Looking at the back - I left the back empty for easy access. Decided not to do the modular removable roof due to a lack of fitting tiles. We see two cows/buffalos Looking when the front door opened - we see two pigs there, not very clearly as they are blocked by the fences. At the side of the barn, I added rows of cultivated vegetation. And a scarecrow to keep the birds away Hope all of you enjoy this :) Quote
Gregorovich Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 It's a very simple design, but it looks so good! The shape of the roof is very nice, and the inside is good, too. I like the neat rows of flowers. Well done! Quote
BrickArtist Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Very nice, the simplicity looks good! Some of it looks a little to simple though. The weak baseplate plastic makes is look less presentable, for example the brown 2 by eights are above the grass(baseplate) it might look better if you put a laver or 2 of plates down. One reason that I favor plates is that they allow you to make an even surface, thats not flat, but isn't so dramatic as a whole brick. You also might want to add a loft to the barn. Great job, this is a nice build! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Very nice work. I would recommend some brown or tan plate to cover the floor of the barn as grass doesn't usually grow inside a barn. This would raise the realism a bit. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 That's a nice barn you have built, no doubt inspired by the upcoming kingdoms set? The barn itself has a nice shape and colourscheme, but I do agree with ISC about the floor inside, as grass wouldn't be growing there. Tan for straw and some scattered brown pieces would be worth trying. The scarecrow is a nice touch and much more original then using the old standard of a pumpkin minifig head. Nice work! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Excellent barn 'chongcheng' , but yes I agree.....tan floor is better for the barn floor ! I'm a conformist! 'chongcheng' ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Very well done barn MOC chongcheng, simple yet beautiful. I like the way you used those yellow flower pieces, are they supposed to represent sunflowers or corn? The brickbuilt scarecrow is a nice detail, and the interior looks good with the cow stable. Good job! Quote
chongcheng Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Thanks for all comments :) Added a dark tan floor for the barn That's a nice barn you have built, no doubt inspired by the upcoming kingdoms set? Yup...the design of the barn door was directly taken from the upcoming Kingdoms set Very well done barn MOC chongcheng, simple yet beautiful. Good job! The yellow flowers are supposed to represent corn or wheat - food grown from the farm. My impression of medieval things are largely left behind by the games I play in the 90s - Ultima 7 (probably one can identify this from my Avatar) and maybe in some ways Darklands as well :) Quote
bsong Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Very nice indeed. Thanks for sharing! Edited January 25, 2011 by bsong Quote

TheLegoDr Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I like the shape of the barn and the interior design with the cows. Quote
LandShark Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 That's a nice looking barn, chongcheng. I do think it looks better with the dark tan floor. Also, do you have the barn from the new Kingdoms set (Mill Village Raid)? I'd love to see them next to each other. Quote
