Veeb0rg Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) I have a 9v train motor I bought as "parts" I'm pretty sure the electric motor has worn out. While I don't mind tearing it apart and rebuilding it, it would just be easier to replace it. I was wondering if anyone had found a suitable replacement for the motor? Hi Veeb0rg, that would be very interesting indeed. You are asking for the motor inside the LEGO train motor, right? I am also very eager to learn if anyone has replaced the motor ... SavaTheAggie Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 It makes me wonder - has anyone opened up one of the new PF train motors? I wonder how similar (or dissimilar) the innards of the PF train motor are to the 9v one. --Tony Quote

Jan Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I recently bought some 9 volt track and got a damaged 9v motor with it. Opened it up and only problem were the contacts between the wheels an motor. Bend them a little, and it's running fine for some time now. You might just want to open it to check if your motor has a similair easy-to-repair problem. Quote

It runs for a minute or so and then slowly crawls to a stop. Even when it does run it has no real power. Edited January 27, 2011 by Veeb0rg Quote

Even when it does run it has no real power. When it's open, do you see the brushes sparking (you can't see the brushes themselves because the motor inside the 9V train motor is closed, but the plastic does let some light through, so you can see it if it is sparking. If it is, then clearly it's toast, but you may be able to repair it if you can find another 2-axle DC motor that fits in the spot. Quote
jjolaney Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Try Micro-Mark or another model raiilroad or car supplier Sal WFB, WI I have and the motors are EXACTLY the same. With a small amount of modification they would work in a 9v motor. Quote
