Posted January 28, 201114 yr Hi everybody, after lurking around this site for about a year as a non-member I finally registered to get active ;-) Well my favourite LEGO theme is City/Town, but I'm also interested in many others like Creator, Technic, Train ... I came to LEGO through my children about three years ago and since then the collection is growing. To introduce myself I show you one of my latest creations. Its a tipper truck with a snowplough and a saltbox to de-ice the roads. Hope you'll like it. Regards Sleepie Edited January 29, 201114 yr by Sleepie
January 28, 201114 yr Hi Sleepie, Nice design with some good details, I like the spreader at the rear. Welcome to the forums, perhaps you could give us a little introductory story over in the new members section :-)
January 28, 201114 yr Very nice LDD truck you have there 'Sleepie' and welcome to EB as well ! Do you intend to brick-build your design ? Anyway, great design and keep on LDDing !

The model is already standing on my desk ;-) I make LDraw models for nearly all of my creations, sometimes before building it with realbricks, sometimes afterwards or I do it in parallel like with this model. Often you'll have to tweak some details when brick-building pre-designed digital models, because something is to weak or doesn't look as good as previously planned. And I often prefer to publish rendered pictures, because I'm not that good at picture taking and you don't need a sunny day to make good pictures :) Sleepie Edit: fixed a typo Edited January 28, 201114 yr by Sleepie
January 28, 201114 yr Nicely done, sleepie, and welcome to EB. I love the level of detail you've managed to achieve and I like the size. It is a bit too colourful for my tastes, although I that many of these trucks are basically commercial vehicles pressed into service in winter for this task by adding equipment that is not necessarily colour coordinated with the paintscheme of the truck, so perhaps it does add to the realism. Cheers, Ralph

Cheers, Ralph Thank you Ralph. I like your models a lot and got new ideas and techniques to use in my own models. And well yes, the color mix is intentional. I was inspired by real-life, because we had tons of snow here in december and many commercial trucks were retooled for winter service. The color scheme is based on the Octan colors. I'm working on a trailer for it at the moment, when that is finished I'll show it here without the snowplough. Regards, Sleepie
January 29, 201114 yr Very nice digital truck model Sleepie, I for one, really like the colorful commercial look of this truck, and the realistic snowplough and rear details. Great work overall! Also, I think it would be better if these photos were deeplinked in the post, for members to appreciate this wonderful build more. This topic might help you --> How to Deeplink and Post Images. I posted the photos below for the benefit of others. Welcome to the forums BTW.
January 29, 201114 yr Hi Sleepie! Welcome to the Universe of Lego. I like your model very Much! Say Do you have the same colors for this LDD file Version as the desk built model? And Keep on Pushing!

I'd have deeplinked the images, but as I'm new I don't have this opportunity yet ;-) (But I can understand why the board admins don't permit this for new members to prevent image spamming) So thank you for doing it for me. I'll edit the initial post when I have reached the required post count. Cheers, Sleepie

Did you try to deeplink the page containing the file and not the file itself? Your code should look like this: [img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sleepie/MODsAndMOCs/00-Trucks/TruckWithSnowplough/tippertruck-i-withsnowplough-01.jpg] BTW, nice job with this MOC and welcome to EB.
January 29, 201114 yr Author Hi Sleepie! Welcome to the Universe of Lego. I like your model very Much! Say Do you have the same colors for this LDD file Version as the desk built model? And Keep on Pushing! Hello Fuzzylegobricks, well my brick-build model is not 100% identical, but the only reason for that is that I have not all required bricks in the required colors on stock at the moment (I don't have enough blue slopes for the roof on the saltbox). But all pieces used for this model are exist in the used colors. I didn't know if the used parts are available with the used colors in LDD. I don't use LDD. This model is created with the LDraw parts library using MLCad and than rendered with POVRay. But I guess that you cannot recreated this model with LDD, because I also used older parts (hinges) like 1, 2, 3 and 4, which very likely not available in LDD. Maybe an LDD expert can shed some light on it. My last trys with LDD were about two years ago, I cannot even tell you the LDD version I used at that time. LDD just didn't suit my needs and I moved on to the LDraw set of tools and never went back. For me this is more flexible, has an higher part availability and more possibilities, but that is just my opinion. You don't? I know plenty of members still grouped under 'I'm New' who deeplink images. Did you try to deeplink the page containing the file and not the file itself? Your code should look like this: [img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sleepie/MODsAndMOCs/00-Trucks/TruckWithSnowplough/tippertruck-i-withsnowplough-01.jpg] Hmm, maybe I did something wrong. I'll try it again right away, but I read somewhere in the guidelines & rules that you need at least 10 posts to use certain features. Anyway no big deal and will work shortly in one way or the other. Thanks for your help. BTW, nice job with this MOC and welcome to EB. Thanks! Cheers, Sleepie Edited January 29, 201114 yr by Sleepie
January 29, 201114 yr Nice plow Sleepie! We don't get to see too many LEGO snowplows in our LEGO world. Your is great!
January 29, 201114 yr I'm not into LDD at ll, but I must admit this is one one best designed trucks in LDD I've ever seen. Living in a snowy cold country, this sight is just too familiar on the roads
January 29, 201114 yr Author Nice plow Sleepie! We don't get to see too many LEGO snowplows in our LEGO world. Your is great! Thank you. Maybe the reason is that snow is vary rare in a LEGO town ;-) But I guess you'll see many of them in real life, afaik the winter in canada is normally more hard than here in germany. I'm not into LDD at ll, but I must admit this is one one best designed trucks in LDD I've ever seen. Thanks Selander, I'm glad you like it. Living in a snowy cold country, this sight is just too familiar on the roads Oh yes, I can imagine. Hmm sounds like you should add a plow to your truck collection, too ;-) Cheers, Sleepie

I'm taking a wild guess here, but would you happen to be Dutch by any chance? There are plenty of countries that had snow in December, of course, but we had unusual amounts of snow in December and your truck looks European. Cheers, Ralph

Cheers, Ralph Not dutch, I'm a german guy, so we are neighbors ;-) Yeah the weather in december was really crazy in december in most european countries. I can't remember that we ever had so much snow here. Greetings from sunny germany, Sleepie
