BrickArtist Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It all started a month or so ago, I slapped together some bricks, and make A BARC. Since then I have obsessed over getting this thing as accurate as possible. I've spent a lllooonnnngggg time on this thing. And finally I have what I think is the finished product. On my last one the criticisms were: -Curvy portions are front are absent/Too blocky. -Twin blasters at front are missing. -Turbine needs to be in the front. -Needs secondary control yoke. That list is short because the one who "Wants Cake, with liver and onions" didn't give me that 200 word post of criticisms that i appreciate so much. Hopefully he'll get around to this one. Anyway here it is: And the side: Thanks for looking. Leave. behind. A. Criticism And please Specify! Even the smallest of inaccuracies, never say never! Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Looks pretty good, brickartist! The only thing I notice is that you now seem to have lost the taper on the front part. And we're supposed to stop making fun of fallenangel, remember? Quote

And we're supposed to stop making fun of fallenangel, remember? Yeah the taper wast lost. Long explanation for that, has to do with part limitation. I was complementing him, I should have that more clear...oops! He's really the only person who leaves behind criticisms that I can truly work off of(Part Recommendations, reference pics, Building techniques). It's all so helpful! EDIT-Not 'Retrogradations" "Recommendations" Megablocksin Spell-check! Edited January 30, 2011 by brickartist Quote
BrickArtist Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Good job looks great. (first post) Hi there "RvB" And welcome to EB! Anything that you liked in particular? Great Details! Thanks! Anything in particular? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Yeah the taper wast lost. Long explanation for that, has to do with part limitation. Too bad. Can you not just move those 1 x 4 tiles forward and angle them or is there something blocking them? Edited January 30, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote
BrickArtist Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Too bad. Can you not just move those 1 x 4 tiles forward and angle them or is there something blocking them? Ok if you insist So the rear repulsor lifts were redesigned to accommodate armor. Unfortunately I could only find a 1x1 brick with studs on all sides-The other one(The piece I used for the rear repulsors), how convenient is located in the nose. I was forced to take that one out, and put in 2 Dk. Bley 1x1s with studs on 2 side, which i have abundance of. This had the same effect. In addition to that there are Light bley 1x1s filling it up to prevent the little gap that would occur above the 1x4s otherwise. Oh wait a second, I know how to fix it! Quote
M<0><0<DSWIM Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 This looks pretty cool and fairly accurate! I like the minifig hands as handlebars idea and the shape looks right. The only thing I think is missing is the round turbine on the nose. Can't see if it's there in the pics. Quote

On my brickshelf there is a head on pic I'll put it here when I resize. Sorry if that made somebody's computer slow. Edited January 30, 2011 by brickartist Quote

Can't wait to see...v.4. Don't worry, I went to v.5 for my AT-RT before I was satisfied. Quote
BrickArtist Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Great. Can't wait to see...v.4. Don't worry, I went to v.5 for my AT-RT before I was satisfied. I'm thinking 5 for this, and 4 for my AT-RT. The BARC is to me as the AT-RT is to you. Eventually I may do some decals for the red at the back. Quote
Fallenangel Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Great. Can't wait to see...v.4. Don't worry, I went to v.5 for my AT-RT before I was satisfied. Well I'm on version 9 and I'm still not satisified! I wish I could build it in UCS scale but I don't have the parts... Congratulations brickartist; you're now in the same position Brickdoctor was in with his AT-RT and which I am in with my X-wing! Hopefully you won't be made fun of like Brickdoctor and I were. That list is short because the one who "Wants Cake, with liver and onions" didn't give me that 200 word post of criticisms that i appreciate so much. Hopefully he'll get around to this one. Why is that still there? (The member title, that is.) Too bad. Can you not just move those 1 x 4 tiles forward and angle them or is there something blocking them? It appears that my previous condition of using the 1x1 modified plate was thrown out during the building process. As a result, the nose on this model has become significantly thicker than it had been in the beginning, which really is a retrogradation. I think that with the ski pieces, tiles, etc. the entire model may have become a bit too bulky in general. The back looks higher and the feet don't reach the pedals. How does the size of this compare to that of the BARC from 7913? In any case, it should be smaller than the latter... remember, the minifigure should be able to straddle the speeder. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Why is that still there? (The member title, that is.) 'Cause no one has changed it. n any case, it should be smaller than the latter... remember, the minifigure should be able to straddle the speeder. I think he said he didn't want to use illegal techniques to split the trooper's legs. Quote

You shouldn't need to split the legs. Just use a new speederbike or motorcycle chasis so the fig can "straddle" the bike. Edited January 30, 2011 by M<0><0<DSWIM Quote

I'm just not so sure if that will integrate well with the bike. Granted, it was a good idea on TLG's part, but it looks too big to me. Quote

Eh, sorry but no way. I despise that standing fig look IMO it looks plain old ugly. On another note, I've heard rumors of a piece that is perfect for repulsors, and came in the ben10 sets, anybody know what these are, and where they are on BL? Quote
prateek Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 This is better, but still not perfect... I agree with BD that the taper of the front should be added again, and I don't think the skis work too well in the back, although I'm not sure how to fix that. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 It's really nice to see the evolution of your BARC speeder brickartist, as an observer I think I'm already satisfied with your model and will just leave the criticisms to the ones above. The only suggestion I could make is if you could provide pics or links to your previous versions for easiness of comparison. Quote
