lightningtiger Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 G'day everyone, I decided this morning to build a new small MOC....a Star Wars one for a change.....but what small one to make......ah, found it this morning.. A mobile mortar known as a WW-676 as well and now here is my design of said craft. Comments and suggestions welcome as normally I'm a town builder. May the Sith brick be with you ! Quote
CMP Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Here was my first thought. What the hell are you doing here? It's not bad, but the upper 'pod' could use some greebles on the side, and you're missing the steering vane underneath as well. Other than that, quite nice. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks 'CallMePie' for your comments, yeah....sorry I forgot the steering part....my bad, time for an add-on. Brick On with the force ! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nice one, mate. Next thing we'll see a Watto's springing up in your town. :classic: Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Here was my first thought. What the hell are you doing here? It's always nice when 'The Original' Tiger makes a rare and welcome contribution to the SW forum. Thanks for sharing this LT, I honestly didn't know the about the existence of this small vehicle until only now. I think you got the basic shape right, though one thing I noticed is the wedge-shaped steering vane at the underside of the back is missing. It would also be more accurate of you remove the grille slope at the back and reposition the side grille plates horizontally. Still, nice work on this one! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) How's this for quick eh ? More comments welcome......may the Sith brick be with you ! Quick footnote - sorry, 'KielDaMan' I was photographing and posting above before the little note about the rear grill pieces.....I'll look into that ! Even faster...... May the Sith brick be with you always ! Edited February 7, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Not bad, lightingtiger. Now that the steering vane problem is fixed, what I notice is that it looks like the rear seat should be about 1 plate lower, and the cooling...thing behind him should drop below that seat, with a top panel that slopes downwards and back, not upwards and back. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) Okay, half redesigned now...... Thanks 'Brickdoctor' for your input ! May the......you know the rest by now ! Edited February 7, 2011 by lightningtiger Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nice. I've got one last suggestion. I know it doesn't sound right compared to the reference pic, but remember that minifigs aren't proportionate to humans. What if the backing of the front seat was one stud shorter? This wold bring down the back area by around 2 plates. Not sure how that would look, but to me it seems it would make it a lot more compact and more elongated looking. Quote
DS2626 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Not bad! although it could be a little thicker to look more realistic... Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks again 'Brickdoctor' for your comments.....also thank you 'DS2626' as well. I'll try and thicken the piece between the upper and lower sections, plus balance out or try and balance out the rear of the upper section. More tomorrow and may the...... you know it by now ! Quote
Artifex Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Good job, lightiningtiger -- it looks great! Off-topic: Have you ever noticed how Star Wars suffers from the same problem GIJoe does? They are the only guys who go to the front of battle in vehicles that usually leave the pilot/driver/gunner exposed... Quote

And your right....about them being exposed....but I guess when they are wearing armor of sorts eh ? Changes being made tomorrow.....keep on watching ! Quote
Praiter Yed Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I've never seen this before - hopefully it's ray shielded. These are my favourite types of SW MOC's - little add on craft or scenery that compliment official sets and expand our own little brick universe. I agree with KDM that the grille pieces at the rear sides should fit horizontal like your reference image and also as Brickdoctor says the pilot could be a tad lower. Quote
Legostein Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hello! It's nice to see you now found your way into the Star Wars Galaxy. It's a nice gadget for the troopers. I am sure they appreciate your efforts. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Again thanks to everyone so far for the feedback, only twenty minutes ago I decided to fix a few things..... Even though the original design didn't have mounts for their own blasters.....I install them anyway ! Comments as usual welcome ! Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Looked through the first page... looked okay at first...slowly got better...but now its great! The front looks a tad bit empty (not enough aerodynamics! ) but thats what it looks like on the diagram. Keep it up and hopefully this is a start to seeing more mocs here from you? CF Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks 'CommanderFox' and 'ceroknight' for your comments, I'll review the design again, but I don't won't go over the top with this MOC ! May the Sith brick be with you ! Quote
