Darth Yogi Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Here is my AAC-1 hovercraft from Battlefront II. Hope you enjoyed. Please C&C. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nice job! Shaping is nice, although the blue Technic pins kinda stick out for me. What are you using for the lasers in the 'shopped pic? You should try creating a new layer, then add a red line, rounded off at the ends. Draw a white line of just under half the width of the red line on top of the red line, also rounded off at the ends. Then blur it (Unfocus in Paint.NET, dunno what you're using) and lastly add a Motion Blur. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks. I'll change the pins to tan which will be less noticeable. About the lasers, I googled laser then put it in a new layer then added it to the main picture, then sized and rotated it. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 About the lasers, I googled laser then put it in a new layer then added it to the main picture, then sized and rotated it. No wonder. Lasers in real life are so much different than Star Wars lasers. Actually, that would be because contrary to popular opinion, blaster bolts are not lasers but 'pure energy'. No, I have no idea how that works. But it solves the 'spend a ton of money on shields instead of plating your ship with mirrors' issue. Quote
Legostein Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hello! A really decent hovercraft. I like the coating with the wedge plates, but also the use of those TECHNIC® bricks which do a perfect job here. These pieces are good for giving shape and detail. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Well done hovercraft darth yogi! I'm not familiar with this vehicle (never played the game), but it sure looks good, especially the overall smooth finish achieved by the SNOT build. Good work! Quote
The Legonater Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Lasers in real life are so much different than Star Wars lasers. Actually, that would be because contrary to popular opinion, blaster bolts are not lasers but 'pure energy'. I keep trying to tell that to my friend, but he continues to claim that both blasters and lightsabers would be easily deflected with mirrors... This is really nice job- instantly recognisable to the one in the game. I love the use of the tread! Quote
Lord Starkiller Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I keep trying to tell that to my friend, but he continues to claim that both blasters and lightsabers would be easily deflected with mirrors... This is really nice job- instantly recognisable to the one in the game. I love the use of the tread! SW bladders are closer to Ray guns ( radiation ). Don't you have any grey replacements for the blue technic pieces? Quote
BrickArtist Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Nice work here, Yogi. i like what you've done with the sides, and missile launchers. Yet, I think SNOT might be a good idea to get rid of the gappiness in the tiles. Also, the yellowed tiles might detract fro the look a little. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Thank you all for the kind comments. Brickdocter, thanks for the tips on the lazers. I'll use that method next time(maybe a little simpler ) Quote
