captaintau Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Anyone got any suggestions for alternative activities whilst the world cup is on. When more of the population than normal act like idiots and the TV schedules change? Any better ideas for time occupation during world cup season? Hara-Kiri springs readily to mind! Kudos to Sky One, though, for intelligent scheduling for 24 Quote

Kudos to Sky One, though, for intelligent scheduling for 24 I am not intersted in football either, BUT it might be a great idea to join some friends which host a party with beer and snacks! ;-) Take your MP3 player with you or a good book or whatever else and participate only at the food and drink related parts of the party! >:-) Or take your car, bike, motorbike or whatever vehicle you own and ride through the beautiful landscape without of dumb Golf-3-Kids or whatever! Nothing better than a sunny day at the countryside with nobody arround! Quote
Jipay Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 In France they are starting to organise non football fans parties. I guess it's a good occasion to socialize while other people stick to their TV :) Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 I'm gonna put 2 and 2 together here. We're all fans of LEGO, right? And we've got a thread about what to do when you don't want to watch the footie? Build LEGO. Alternatively, go to the cinema while your home team is playing. It will be like a ghost town, as I'm sure JoeMI6 will confirm as we went to X-3 on Saturday afternoon. Quote
JoeMI6 Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Yeah, there were barely any people there. The roads were really clear as well. You could hear the tension (in other words, raucous shouting and cursing ;-) ) from deep inside the pubs. Quote
Deinonychus Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs!!! Oh...wait...nobody in Europe cares about North American hockey... come to think of it, nobody in the United States cares about north american hockey :-P Quote
captaintau Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 All very good and very valid suggestions / points. Cinema - good plan. Will work on that. Not seen X3 yet. Non-football party (to run concurrent to football party) - very good plan. Quote
Hobbes Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I can't believe I found my way into a football related forum... From April to October it's all baseball for me. Except LEGO there's nothing else that could keep me from watching my team (suck for yet another season) :-) Quote
Jipay Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Ahhhh, finally ! As a proud supporter of the red sox baseball team, I can only agree with you hobbes ! Quote
Hobbes Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Ahhhh, finally ! As a proud supporter of the red sox baseball team, I can only agree with you hobbes ! Well, Red Sox are an enemy but at least you don't root for The Evil Empire >:-) Quote
KimT Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Leave the TV alone except for Formula1 - that's the sport to watch. Or one could spend the entire day (and night) playing Counter Strike or Civilization III (Not IV :-X ) At least that's what I do KimT Quote
Hobbes Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 What team do you support ? Baltimore Orioles. And they'll suck for the 8th (or 9th?) straight season cos of their owner's "strategy". But I'm not a bandwaggoner and still like the team the best, even if they're a pain to watch sometimes... :'-( Leave the TV alone except for Formula1 - that's the sport to watch. True, it's the perfect sleeping pill for me, works every time >:-) Quote
KimT Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Leave the TV alone except for Formula1 - that's the sport to watch. True, it's the perfect sleeping pill for me, works every time >:-) WHAT!! >:-( FORMULA1 ROCKS! *sweet* I'll have Your hide for mocking the greatest sport of them all X-D KimT Quote
Jipay Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 I'm not the ultimate formula one either. I think seen erton sena crashing into a security wall in direct was the final shock. Not ot mention watching cars cruising again and again also has this sleeping side effect on me. At least I'll be able to comment my favoryte game with hobbes now Quote
jof Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 No, not F1, its just so boring. At least watch rallying for the crashes. Oh, & what is wrong with with Civilization in its orignal classic form? Either that or spend some time modding the ship stats on the original homeworld! Jof Leave the TV alone except for Formula1 - that's the sport to watch.Or one could spend the entire day (and night) playing Counter Strike or Civilization III (Not IV :-X ) At least that's what I do KimT Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted June 15, 2006 Governor Posted June 15, 2006 Anyone got any suggestions for alternative activities whilst the world cup is on. When more of the population than normal act like idiots and the TV schedules change? I'll be designing this ultra cool Pirate LEGO forum complete with its own skin.... Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Who need alternatives when we have great Football games during one full month :-D :-P *yoda* Quote

captaintau Posted June 15, 2006 Author Posted June 15, 2006 Who need alternatives when we have great Football games during one full month :-D :-P *yoda* I always thought the terms "great" and "football" were oxymoronic. But then I suppose its all relative. So, a month of "great" football, eh? What's on? I thought all football stopped for the world cup. Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I always thought the terms "great" and "football" were oxymoronic. But then I suppose its all relative. Loooooooool :-D I concur with you in general except for the Euro and World cup ;-) *yoda* Quote
