Didnt see this anywhere else, but there are new train parts on shop at home at least on the USA store, under the train accessories page, the AAA battery box part 88000 and power function train motor 88002, very helpful for those getting the maersk train and emerald night, especially that AAA battery box

Oh my gosh, wonderful! Time to spend money...lol

Finally! I've been waiting for this, after seeing it available for other countries! Now, when I buy my Maersk train and the 3677, I can pick up the equipment to motorize them right off the bat.

Good find, fluffy, finally the battery box is available in the U.S.

Nice, $75 (rechargeable box + transformer) vs $12.99 (AAA battery box)

My Cargo train has the battery box that it came with as did the Passenger. For the EN Express, I ordered the PF parts but chose the rechargeable one. As expensive at is, I have decided to replace the Cargo and Passenger with the rechargeable (for convenience and I hate dealing with Batteries) and got these at this site (shop@home). And lining up the loco at the charging station feels like a loco replenishing its fuel tanks or taking on water and coal at a yard.

I only need one wall charger to deal with all three packs.

All we need now is a new wagons pack containing train wheels, magnetic couplings, train base, etc like the old set 3737 to help us build more train cars.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder which enterprising Bricklink store will run first with this idea?

I wonder about this all the time... some of the BL stores sell "custom" packs, generally like a pack of some color plates or some such, but I never see things like this that would be greatly useful...

I would think for the little extra work it would take, they'd sell a lot more pieces - and I'm not just talking about trains.

Well, I got lots of AAA rechargeable batteries lying around. I can't justify the price for the battery box. I don't like the down time wait to recharge it.

All those parts are already available for purchase through the online Pick a Brick (those that are currently available anyway), you can just add them to your order in any quantity you desire.

The thing that I find anoying about 'Pick a Brick' is they sell only things in a certain colour for example the train/carrage plate they sell them but only in dark stone colour and for black trains/carrages it doesn't look good.

So things from pick a brick compared to Brick link are a bit limited unless you don't mind your construction being multi coloured!. :sceptic:

They are, but I was just perusing last night and every once in a while a picture simply doesn't work... in this case it was the train buffers, and they listed type 1 and type 2... with no picture. I know one has the angled "cow catcher" appearance, but I don't know which one, so that was kind of annoying.

When I looked last night they had both black and dark gray (EDIT: black is 6x24, gray is 6x28, so point made). One thing I noticed, though, was that the ideal "new" style bogey would use new wheels and technic pins (connector w/ cross axle), which only come in tan (or blue if you don't mind "with friction," and in this case it shouldn't matter). So you have a black base, black wheels, black bogey... and tan or blue axles sticking out of the wheels.

Sure, you could use a cross axle, but then you're losing differential - the train will run more smoothly through curves with the connector pins.

They also don't sell this kind of brick on S@H: 40344.gif. While you can accomplish a decent bogey without one, this is the ideal piece for it.

Just my opinion, but the old wheels/bearing elements look better... but will run over $8.00 for two 2 axle bogeys, not including the plate, when you add wheels (x8), the metal axles (x2 packs) and the bearing elements (x4). I have no opinion about the new buffers, though (the single piece units with the sealed magnets). I like them just fine.

Plus the buffers more easily go with the old style.

It looks like the standard buffer is part 91968, while the plow buffer is part 91966. I believe they are Buffers 1 and 2, respectively, on PaB.

:oh3: I'm on PAB right now adding a few minor things (since I'm already ordering a number of other sets anyway).

The Type 1 is listed as design ID 91922, type 2 is 91994... must be new, hence the no pictures or 360.

I'm going to give this a few minutes, hopefully someone here can tell me which is which. There's no other information except "Type 1" and "Type 2." I would assume "Type 1" is the "normal" one and 2 is the plow... but I don't want to assume or order pieces I don't need.

According to Lego Digital Designer:

91992 Train Buffer 1 - Has the plow

91994 Train Buffer 2 - Is the standard buffer

I can confirm because i ordered some type 2 on PAB.
