Janco147 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Hey everybody Wouldn't it be nice if your train lights actually changed from white to red when the train reverses direction? No biggie with LEDs. These things are direction-sensitive, so I just built them into a 2x2 brick. Of course video says it al: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAtZ1Jik97Y Just replace the regular 12V lightbrick with these ones and you're good to go If you're interested, mail me at jckaaden@gmail.com I've got spares. You just might persuade me to part with them ;-) see you, Janco aren't 12V trains THE BEST!!!??? Quote
Bernie56 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 So, these will only work on 12V trains? What does one do with say the PF Cargo train? Any similar solutions there? Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Great modified system you built They look like they work flawlessly. If only I had 12v Great job anyways! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Superb! Have you put resistors and leds in the brick? I have posted this topic months ago: 7720 with real lights P.S. 12 volts trains are lovely! Quote
locoworks Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 LED's need resistors that are suitable for the voltage they are supplied with unless fed with the very few volts they need. 12 volt and 5 volt LED's just have a suitable resistor built in so they operate on those voltages. all that is needed is a stock bicolour white /red led ( available from specialist normal model railway electronics suppliers ) and the appropriate resistor fitted inline. but a good job by the OP, come on LEGO, fingers out.... I'm just an 'oldie' that doesn't know zip about 9V, RC and/or PF trains. My brick is made with the 'eighties' system in mind. Using the 1x6 brick and light prisms. Take a look at my third picture. If that'll fit into your train somehow, you're all set. My brick will work on 9V as well. Slightly less bright, of course, since 9V is less juice then 12V. Quote
