Legomaster34 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Some of you may remember my last failed attempt at creating the famous school of witchcraft and wizardry(and if you haven't, look in my signature). So, since I don't have the pieces to make Hogwarts how I would like it to look, I've made it in LEGO Digital Designer! This is only a W.I.P. so it's not finished yet, but while I am building it there are some things I am uncertain about, so I want to hear your thoughts about it. Main View: This is the main image, as you can see little of the castle is actually finished, but the greenhouse is completely finished, and Hagrid's Hut just needs a roof. The Forbidden Forest on the otherhand... Update 1; 4/13/2011: The main entrance has been started, now that the correct door is there I can make it. The Black Lake has been started, but it is pretty far from completion. The Great Hall is going to be next to the lake where those rocks are, which will also be where the kitchens are. As you can see there is an extra layer of baseplates that the Great Hall is now on. Update 2; 4/16/2011: The Black Lake is now finished. Gryffindor Tower is completed, as well as the Transfiguration Classroom. Update 3; 6/5/2011: I have finished Ravenclaw Tower, and the Entrance Hall only needs a roof. I also added a stain glass window with the house colors, which is above the Hogwarts Crest. The History of Magic Classroom is also finished. Update 4; 6/8/2011: As you can see, this is probably the biggest update yet. I have added a lot of new baseplates for a bigger Black Lake, as well as the boathouse, which is finished. Update 5; 6/18/2011: I have finished the kitchens, and I will now start the Great Hall. The potions classroom is also completed. Update 6; 6/28/2011: I have almost finished the Great Hall, all it needs is the roof. There are also some extra empty rooms that I don't know what I should put in them. Update 7; 7/8/2011: The Great Hall still needs a roof, but now the Quidditch Pitch just needs some finishing details and it will be done! Update 8; 9/17/2011: As you can see, a lot has been added since my last update over two months ago! The only interior design added, however, is the library. Forbidden Forest: I do like the trees I've built, but it is still far from finished. Hagrid's Hut: All Hagrid's Hut needs is a roof, so it is almost finished. It does have a front and back door. The back door leads to his pumpkin patch and the Forbidden Forest. It also has an interior, which I waill show you when I am completely finished. Greenhouse: The greenhouse was the first thing I built. I tried to have glass all over the walls, which I think I accomplished nicely, I used SNOT to make the roof, which you can see better in this picture: picture There are lots of magical plants inside, which you can kind of see in the top view. Hufflepuff Common Room: The Hufflepuff Common Room has a nice warm fireplace on the one wall, as well as a table with a letter and a goblet on it. Susan Bones is sitting on the sofa, and Cedric Diggory is in his school uniform ready for class. Charms Classroom: Professor Flitwick is at the Front of the Charms Classroom standing on a pile of books. There are three long tables with chairs in front of him. Second Floor Bridge Corridor: The Second Floor Bridge Corridor links this small section of Hogwarts to the larger side via a bridge. There are many statues here, as well as two suits of armor. Note: the statues on the right side aren't finished. Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom: The Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom has a desk for the teacher at the front of the room. There are also two desks with parchment and a bottles of ink on them. Defence Against the Dark Arts Office: The Defence Against the Dark Arts Office has a desk with a letter and a bottle of ink on it. There is a chair in front of the desk for a student to sit. There is also a table with a skull and a brain in cases on the right side of the room. Filch's Office: Filch's Office has crates of things he has confiscated from students on the left side. There is a shelf with student discipline files on it. Filch's desk has a Kwikspell letter, parchment, and a bottle of ink on it. Behind his desk is a chest of confiscated items. Hanging from the cieling are chains that used to be used to punish students. Second Floor Bridge: This is the bridge that is on the second floor. It is connected to the Second Floor Bridge Corridor. Gate to the Quidditch Pitch: This is the gate that will lead to the Quidditch Pitch (I am considering having this be the entrance to Hogsmead, which I don't think I will make, so I want to hear what you think it should be. If I make the entrance to Hogsmeade it wall have the winged boars on it). Update 1; 4/13/2011: The Black Lake: As I said in the update the Black Lake is far from finished, so only a little bit is finished. The Kitchens: This is where the kitchens will be. It will have no windows since it is under that rock layer that the Great Hall will be under. The roof is low since it is for house elves, but minifigures can still stand. Main Entrance: Now that LEGO Digital Designer has that door piece I can make doors in Hogwarts, and I think I will change the doors in Hagrid's Hut to that kind of door. Update 2; 4/16/2011: The Black Lake: The Black Lake is now done. I used lighter blue around the edge to make it look shallow. Path to Hagrid's Hut: This is the small stone path that leads to Hagrid's Hut. Transfiguration Classroom: This is the Transfiguration Classroom. Professor McGonnagall's Desk is at the front of the room. Above her desk is a small storage area. Quidditch Supply Room: The Quidditch Supply Room has a trunk with the Quidditch balls in it, some barrels, and a mannequin with Quidditch robes on it. Gryffindor Bridge Corridor: The Gryffindor Bridge Corridor has two suits of armor on either side of the bridge. Colin Creevy appears to be late for class! Gryffindor Common Room: This is the Gryffindor Common Room. There is an armchair across from the couch. In between those is a table with a glass. Percy Weasley is ready for his next class. Gryffindor Girls Dormitory: The Gryffindor Girls Dormitory has four four-poster beds, with a bedside table for each. Lavender Brown has slept in very late today. Gryffindor Boys Dormitory: The Gryffindor Boys Dormitory is the same as the girls dormitory. Update 3; 6/5/2011 Entrance Hall: This is the exterior of the Entrance Hall, to see the interior click HERE. Above the door is the Hogwarts Crest, and above that is a stain glass window with all the house colors. Ravenclaw Common Room: In the Ravenclaw Common Room we find Cho Chang performing some spells. This common room is very similar to the others, except for the cieling, which has a star pattern on it. Ravenclaw Dormatories: The Ravenclaw Dormatories are almost identical to the Gryffindor Dormatories, except blue and grey instead of red and yellow. History of Magic Classroom: This is the History of Magic Classroom, Proffessor Binns (a ghost) is standing (floating?) behind his desk at the head of the room. Behind him is a chalkboard. Update 4; 6/8/2011 Boathouse: Here we have the boathouse. This small section of Hogwarts is where the boats that carry the First Years are kept. From this view you can also see part of the expanded Black Lake. Update 5; 6/18/2011 Kitchens: The kitchens have a lower ceiling than the other rooms in Hogwarts because the house elves work there and they aren't as tall as a wizard. There are four tables that are in t5he same position as the four house tables in the Great Hall. There are also two stoves on the far side of the kitchens. Potions Classroom: The potions classroom has two tables for all the students to mix potions at. There is also two shelves full of potions and potion ingredients. Update 6; 6/28/2011 Great Hall: The Great Hall has red and yellow stain glass windows on the walls, the larger window is behind the teachers table. The four house tables have benches for all the students to sit at. Update 7; 7/8/2011 Quidditch Pitch: The Quidditch has a tower colored for each house, and two with Hogwarts colors. On one of the Hogwarts towers there is a place for the announcer of the match, which has a megaphone and the scoreboard. Update 8; 9/17/2011 The Library: The library is a place for student to study, read interesting books, or just hang out with their friends. There is a large circular table on the left of the room for doing any of those things. On the right, however, there is a desk for Madam Pince, the librarian, to work at. Vindice Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 What a great start! Really like the thought that's gone into this. Looks like a large brick-order is about to be palced! When are you hoping to start/complete it? Quote
Legomaster34 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 (edited) What a great start! Really like the thought that's gone into this. Looks like a large brick-order is about to be palced! When are you hoping to start/complete it? Thanks! Currently the price for all the bricks is almost $700, so it might be a while before I put in an order. I'm hoping to complete this project by the end of April, if I'm lucky. Edited March 24, 2011 by Legomaster34 Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Very huge and detailed castle! I like very much the room with the dark gray statues Quote
Legomaster34 Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 (edited) Very huge and detailed castle! I like very much the room with the dark gray statues The room with the statues is one of my favorite parts too, but it is going to take a while to finish because I want to make all the statues distinctly unique. First post is now updated with a new Main View, the Black Lake, the Kitchens, and the Main Entrance. I will plan to update the first post every Wednesday, but sometimes I might update earlier. gogocar Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I normally don't react to LDD MOCs, but this is just awesome! It's huge! And although it's a LDD, it needed a lot of hard work. Quote
Legomaster34 Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 (edited) I normally don't react to LDD MOCs, but this is just awesome! It's huge! And although it's a LDD, it needed a lot of hard work. Thanks! It is huge, seven six-brick tall stories, if you count the roof. Update 3 is now up (sorry it's so late in coming, I've been busy with other projects ), and it seems that I won't be done by the end of April as I had planned, seeing as it is now June , so now I am hoping to finish by the end of November/beginning of December, seeing as how I haven't even started the Quidditch Pitch, and I have decided to build Hogsmeade as well. Legomaster34 Posted June 8, 2011 Author Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) I have added Update 4, which is the biggest update yet, a lot more space has been added, as I see that there would not have been enough room for all the stuff I wanted to add. If anybody can find what I took away to add the new section, I will post the LXF file for everybody. Edit: Update 5 is up! Edit 2: Update 6 now up! Edit 3: Update 7 is up! ACWWgal2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 are you going to put ? This is really good. Quote
Tanma Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Wow, this is a great Hogwarts castle. The only rooms I don't see featured yet is the Slytherian rooms, and the room of requirement. But there are so many features included, you even have a Quidditch field. This is an impressive structure, will the Forbbiden Forest be added? Quote
Legomaster34 Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) are you going to put ? This is really good. Am I going to put what? And thanks, since there seems to be an interest in it again, I'll post a new update soon;) Wow, this is a great Hogwarts castle. The only rooms I don't see featured yet is the Slytherian rooms, and the room of requirement. But there are so many features included, you even have a Quidditch field. This is an impressive structure, will the Forbbiden Forest be added? Yeah, I have specific places where I want those rooms to be, and I haven't gotten there yet But don't worry, I'll try to do it soon;) Yeah, the Quidditch Pitch was actually one of the easiest to do, all of the towers are basically the same structure, just with different colors! To answer your question yes, the Forbidden Forest will be added, but it will probably be last. Edit: Update 8 now up! Edited September 17, 2011 by Legomaster34 Quote
Tanma Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Good to know, have you any plans to make the Centaur tribe? On the matter of the update, the library looks nice but why does it curve around a gap? Is it one of those hinged rooms which flip open? Quote
Legomaster34 Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Good to know, have you any plans to make the Centaur tribe? On the matter of the update, the library looks nice but why does it curve around a gap? Is it one of those hinged rooms which flip open? I origanally didn't, but that's a good idea, so I probably will now No, the library curvs around a gap because the Great Hall is next to it, and the Great Hall is longer so the wall curves at that part. Hope that explained it well enough:P Edited September 18, 2011 by Legomaster34 Quote
